- Riotoro call this their 'convertible' PC case. it comes flat packed, and you get the instructions online to follow. As Leo explains, this IKEA style of building a case wasn't all smooth sailing. We would however love to know what YOU guys think about it, and the final build - was it worth all the effort. Would you buy it ? Please do leave a comment and let us know we would love to hear your opinions on this rather unusual case. See the full review www.kitguru.net/components/le...

I can't believe I watched this whole video without scrubbing forward.
Man, the guy knows what he is talking about
Everyone seems to be missing the point of this case. The whole point of this case is that you get to build it yourself. Personally I like that.
Subtle and tasteful choice in background music much appreciated.
just purchased this case of Ebay for the grand sum of £34 ($42) brand new unboxed (obviously seller bought it and realised it was too much work for them), would i have purchased this case at original price, not a chance ... it took me 30 - 40 mins to assemble ... looks great, materials are quality strong metal panels all over ... air pass through is awesome even with the tiny 80mm exhaust fan (runs at 2850 rpm full speed, with PWM control runs around 900 rpm in idle and ramps up gradually to match) ... the 2 120mm fans are poor quality but i have swapped them out with 120mm RGB equivs (i purchased the riotoro fans and RGB controller) ... i put a 240mm AIO in at the top with so much room available, i wanted the matching riotoro AIO but no AM4 supported brackets available so have gone with Corsair ... the cable management is the best i've seen in any case on the market ... it's easy to hide unmanaged cables behind panels nowadays with nearly every other case manufacturer but this gives you proper cause to cable manage properly ... but you do have a massive trade off ... you trade heat for noise with the stock fans that come with the case ... swapping the stock fans with better quality silent fans and this thing runs like a dream ... temps are super low because the heat just rises out of the case and away from your components ... with the inverted motherboard the CPU is situated at the base of the case and any excess heat that isnt taken by the AIO it simply rises away from the cpu and motherboard and out of the top of the case ... it does warm the surrounding areas a bit more ... which is great as it helps heat your home in the winter :D ... all in all this case is silent with the better quality fans unless you are performing intensive benchmarking ... i've been playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Assassins Creed Odyssey on Ultra and the most i have noticed is a very quiet hum ... the bad points Price and poor stock RGB Fans that come with it
They _almost_ got me interested. The case should have started to be built up from the motherboard tray, I think.
I would get so pissed off trying to assemble this case, I just don't have the patience . I'll keep my Define R5 thank you very much. But good on you Leo for sticking with it 🖖
Your the kind that has 2 left hands and get confused with 3 electrical wires, which goes where :)
No i'm pretty sure I've only got 1 left hand and I can still remember how to wire a plug for the wall , Being British you had to learn that as Nothing came with a plug attached. Patience is what I lack 😃👍
I like the industrial look of the case. Do you think it would take a mod for handles? Just needs good structural integrity around the top thumbscrews to me.
I never realised how complicated a metal box could be.
My goodness.
Is the atx standard possible when configuring as a mini tower? When we did not increase
Could it install 360mm rad in front if modded a little bit ?
I think this is a very interesting case, I love how much airflow it allows and the transforming aspect could be very useful! Just imagine sticking a micro ATX motherboard in it with your first system, then upgrading to a full ATX motherboard and being able to keep the same case! However, seeing how huge the case is for no apparent reason and with so little room for air coolers, makes it less appealing for me. If they can make it smaller and cheaper, it would work a lot better. A more traditional single chamber layout would probably work better
I was looking at the Corsair H500, But I actually like this case not sure about the £170 price point though. What is the cable management like? it didn't look so good from the video? I like unique cases you don't seem to get them these days like you did back in 2001 they looked a bit space age then now they just rip each other off.
An interesting concept, this. Great for people who _really_ want to build their own PC. :-)
I'm not convinced of the need for it, though.
"Happy days, we can see what we are doing..." :D
What's the max height for a GPU in this case?
I love both IKEA and PC building, but this one I'd rather pass. IKEA sets are brilliantly engineered, it's pleasure to play with. This Riotoro kit looks like the opposite.
As a previous owner of an Antec Lanboy Air case that has a similar mesh pattern panelling, a word to the wise if I may, this will be a dust collecting monster in a while :(.
On the plus side, superb temps.
Always wanted to have a Lanboy Air in White & Black, they just cost so much to buy new these days and overall the hassle of cleaning out all the dust all of the time just isn't worth it, would rather have a more closed up case with filtered air intakes that I can remove and blow off away from the PC
@@longnamedude3947 I've got a blue and black one lying around. Been trying to get rid of it for ages!
I don't think my pc habits are healthy though. Whenever a new case comes out that I particularly like, I tend to switch almost annualy :(.
PC 011 Dynamic hopefully next.
@@longnamedude3947 Hard to find a healthy mix if I may add. I went from and Lanboy to Bitfenix Phenom and then Raijiintec Thetis. They were rather suffocated in terms of airflow. But also less dust :)
@@dwizcreations Just upgrading to a Define R6 TG from a Corsair Vengeance C70, building a new system in a few months, not many great case options right now, all have no air flow and no 5.25inch bays
@@longnamedude3947 The Define R6 is a beauty :D. Good luck with the build mate!
I thought you might have told us where to get the manual
Whith all those holes what is the point of the filter LOL
The Gordon Ramsay of pc tech 🤣
Lol
I literally bought a Thermal Take Core X9 to strip it for parts and build a custom case. I think I paid £120 for the White one? and it comes with 480mm radiator brackets etc. This seems like a nice idea but bad implementation.
80mm fan? This reminds me of the days of IDE hard drives and DVD drives. Early windows XP days before 92mm and 120s were much more common.
This is very similar to the Corsair Crystal 280X, just upside down and backwards.
£170 for a plasticy case that I have to assemble myself? Err...no thanks. There are so many better options at that price point.
Look here, it has many options and assembling it is fan www.riotoro.com/morpheus
Fractal offer some amazing cases for around £80 less, already built with amazing quality for the price. Nevermind the other competition
to this.
A case FULL of holes and the only filters are the same ones as on any other case... needs some rethinking.
Rethinking ? do you want a better air flow then this ?
Also much smaller looking than my TT core 5 full atx case
Rio Toro = Bull River?
It doesn't come with a manual!? As much as I love reading e-books and pdf's linearly they make terrible reference materials
The new Ikea case 😂
The video is cool, but the case is an over-priced, under-engineered pile of parts. The main attraction is "convertible", yet offers fewer layout options and desirable features than (possibly all) other cases at its price point. Thank you Leo for doing the work so others don't have to!
I'll keep my Corsair 540 air thanks...
Thumb up for me because I feel sorry for you for taking so long with this crappy case. I would not buy it from 'Ikea' lol
I think Leo missed the whole point here.
Personally I enjoy small DIY type projects its straight, manly fan things to do.
People that are not into DIY, look at it like assembling a Huge Technic Lego.
Basically assembling the case with your own two hands is PART of the fan.
Remove the dohicky out the whatsit is the most technical term ive ever heard!
It’s odd seeing a popular pc reviewer not using a gamers nexus mod mat XD
Leo here: Whoah there, who are you calling popular? Oh wait, that sounds like a compliment.
They definitely don’t understand the importance of correct order, but I think self build cases could be a good thing. Cheaper shipping, more modular and better for case modders
What is the target demographic of this product? The cheap, crazy and gaudy? First off, how many people really need a case that changes size? Secondly, cases aren't crazy expensive unless you want them to be. Third, look at the final built product; it looks like cheap, gaudy trash.
i bet you 1000 pounds he has that cpu cooler blowing into the case and not out
Not entirely sure what you mean but, the Corsair H115i has the intake at the front, the two original fans from the front are exhausting upwards in the roof and the 80mm is exhausting at the rear, exactly as you would expect.
PC building is time consuming enough, without having to build the case beforehand as well! I'm not sure why anyone would opt for that over a case that is pre-assembled by the manufacturer. I know some people like a modular case, but it's lacking in that department as well compared to other modular cases that are already on the market. Plus, I think it looks awful... especially considering it's inverted, which makes no sense to me at all!
anyone with no engineering experience should be reviewing anything like this..
Would you like some cheese?
An 80mm rear fan? In 2019? No thank you.
that tiny fan is a joke right?...
Atleast you dont have to worry about positive pressure :)
It looks like a nightmare. If it was easy to assemble and modify this might be something. But no thanks!
IKEA doesn't make cases, you do if its from IKEA because IKEA makes you build everything.
did you watch the video perchance ?
I clicked on the video hoping to be impressed but this case falls way off the mark in terms of flexibility, modularity and cost, it also looks like it's made out of aluminium foil, I have some serious concerns about it's actual life span based on how flimsy it looks, one bump or knock and it'll cave-in on itself........
Why does it look like shhitt lol
Not just no, but HELL no!!
IKEA CASE with NO OPtical DRIVE.trash it!!!
I think we are getting to the end of seeing optical drive bays in high-end cases, there's simply not enough demand (note I say not enough rather than no). I get why -It makes the airflow/radiator design easier and a huge majority will never need one - we had the same when the floppy went and now motherboard manufacturers etc have started putting the drivers etc on usb sticks its the beginning of the end I think.
I have now brought a USB3.1 external caddy for my Universal drive (it even plays HDDVDs still) which does the job nicely for my Obsidian 1000D
@@johnmedany9294 that's really sad how people forgot the old good things and shift to modern cloud or shitty usb keys...I have tons of dvd and blu ray and I want to see them on pc.
@@panaboy01 Which is why i got a caddy .. it may not be perfect but does the job ...
Case is poor, spend your time watching another video, you'll just be disappointed by this bin buddy
This is an awful idea, who wants to go over all the work to build a case
4:00 annoying music starts; 4:38 stop video. I'll be unsubscribing if this silliness continues.
