1st story: Lady didn't know she needed a reservation, but claimed to know the owner... Really?
In the last story, the HOA (and ALL its glorious members) are lucky. The writer did not say what the HOA was sued for; but if it was under the Americans with Disabilities Act, the HOA got off DAMN light.
Federal law allows fines of up to $75,000 for the first violation and $150,000 for additional ADA violations. States and local governments may allow additional fines and require businesses to meet a higher standard of accessibility than the ADA requires. With these direct penalties looming, it makes sense to invest in ADA-approved surfaces and access requirements.
Last Story: OP should have threaten the HOA with a Discrimination lawsuit when their pool phub got turn off and sending them the bogus rule violation report.
The best answer to 'do you know who I am?" is to yell loudly, "There's a lady here who doesn't know her name, Anybody here know who she is?"

I don't recall where I saw it, but someone had a Karen scream, "Do you know who I am?" At them, and their response was, "No, but does your father know who you are?"

The last one the board should have immediately removed psycho Karen the second they found out she did that and reversed what she did before the law suit. But, in typical HOA fashion, they would rather have a law suit and make the residents pay for it. The whole board should have been removed and replaced.

Gotta love it when a draconian HOA gets legally burned on discrimination. Whether for disabilities, age, race, etc. it's all good. But yeah, that entire board should be fired, instead if one sacrificial old goat. 🤨
Absolutely! Violation of the ADA.
The fine for a first ADA violation is $75k, additional violations..$150k. The HOA board should actually ban 'Karen' from the pool for putting them at so much risk.
HOAs as a whole should be made illegal. I've never once seen them used any way other than tyrannically.

Wow. Ehler-Danlos is real and pool therapy is really the only way sufferers can tone their muscles at all. My friend has EDS and has dislocated her hip by plopping down in a chair to hard. There are also varying degrees of EDS that manifest in different ways, ranging from stretchy skin to what people call being "double jointed" to the collagen that forms blood vessels suddenly failing and causing fatal aneurisms. It can also worsen over time. In 20 years my friend progressed from having a trick thumb to being wheelchair bound. Not all disabilities are visible and people have come up to her and berated her for using handicapped parking spaces, regardless of the fact that she displays a handicapped placard. Be kind. Not everyone conforms to your ideas and stereotypes.
true i have autism and adhd, but no one who does no already know can tell, because i look and act pretty much like a normal person due to getting both disabilities under control, disabled people can live normal lives with the right help

Had a HOA " Karen " who turned in my yard for having a defunct tree ring , no tree. Every 3- 4weeks. Threatening fines, lawyers, etc. No matter how many times I went back outside and took TODAYS pictures , that no tree " ring" is visiable, and hasn't since we moved I 2005. That picture she shows is from an OUTDATED 2005 GOOGLE EARTH. . HAD to send multiple updated GOOGLE EARTH And daily lawn pictures. I'm 70 now and disabled. My friend informed them , your continued harassement of an elderly disabled person makes YOU LIABLE for a Senior citizen abuse report. Funny how those nasty " Karen reports" dryed up, and now I get " HOW YA DOING???"" Need ANYTHING???" Nope, not a blessed thing!👍😳💝

Because of my first manager, I learned how to call karens out on their bull as politely as possible. Angrily ask me if I know who you are? I'll sweetly threaten to call you an ambulance.
The reason i would never buy a house or condo with a HOA You not even the boss of your own property. They do whatever they like. Some are even crazy enough to try to confiscate the property of people who are not even a member.
My Sister (RIP) bought a house in Albuquerque NM and didn't realize that it was in an HOA! She learned to despise those people quickly. They seemed to love to pick on Her and an elderly neighbor.

I've said it before, however, I'll say it again for the hearing/mentally impaired...."Anyone that voluntarily moves into/lives in an 'hoa', deserves every bad thing that happens to them! I, personally, could never sign away my rights to live in my home the way I want to!!
When I was looking for a new house I had one request to my realtor...do not show or attempt to show me any HOA properties.
I’ve read so many stories about rotten HOAs and I sure do understand. But there are also some that aren’t anywhere near these horrible ones. I consider ourselves so much more than thankful that we don’t live in one of “those”. When we moved to NC there wasn’t much of a choice about not having an HOA as we were buying new and we would be back and forth from AZ periodically. Even custom homes have them, especially by the lake near us. Ours hasn’t dint a single thing about making really stupid and unlawful compliance charges against anyone that I personally know of including ourselves. They take care of everything in our HOA - have gardeners who come and manage all the parts that are not owned by homeowners - we even have a small park right across our street. The city will even snow blow our streets when (and if) we have any snow - rarely. But there were problems with teenagers and the pool and basketball areas - yep, they caused damage! But it must have been taken care of as we never heard a word about entitled people making very large waves. Kids have grown and people have moved in and over the more than 20 years we have been here and we have never had a reason to contact authorities regarding no issues with the HOA! So - it would be really nice if people didn’t vilify every single HOA. Would I rather not have one - of course! But so many times there just isn’t a choice and we didn’t want to and couldn’t purchase an older without one. I sure am happy we don’t have these kind of people running ours. Thanks.

I find it interesting that more than a few stories on these channels relates to people of Taylor's danlos syndrome because of the whole invisible disability issue or other reasons. It might be interesting if someone did a compilation of all the idiots stories as well as maybe one for veteran stories or all the I'm a single mother therefore I deserve free stuff stories, stories involving service dogs etc. kind of themed videos. Could maybe also do some themed around issues like pools, driveways, parking spots etc tree law ones are often fun
So I went to the local hardware store, bought like, 5 items, told the clerk to put them in a bag for me. Bc my hands hurt. She proceeded to hand me a bag. I had to repeat Myself in a loud voice. So it finally put the items in a bag
Barely handed it to me, have me a dirty look and did not even thank me. I said as loud as I could, you are Welcome. Piss on her/it.
I was a retail sales manager in a variety of industries. Sporting goods, car parts, art supplies & framing, & some others. It never failed!! A Karen always showed up. Sometimes a guy, others a gal. I loved handling these people. My secret?? "I appologize for your trouble. What can I do for you, right now, to make it right for you"? This always took the wind out of their sails, because every one expected an arguement. Remove that & whala, I had control of the situation. What fun I had with those folks, still do!😂

I just love how HAS think they can police every thing a renter or homeowner does. God for bid one or all of the board takes a disliking to some one, family or block. Most of the regulations are against basic laws and rights, why people put up with this is beyond me. Then if you fight back they get even worse, some any way other the whole board gets replaced and things aren't bad. Can you imagine eating fined because your trash can isn't put away with in 30 min of pick up or flowers are not on the ok list. If I own or rent I will plant what flowers I damn well like, I love roses. I always plant roses. I feel they bring beauty to abandon help homey bees smell wonderful and look great in side my home. I won't live in one of those places no matter how affordable it is, also they tell you, you can not have family stay over night for holidays or emergencies. Seriously no one has that right not even a land lord unless it's in a lease and we'll that can be fought in court. Any decent person doesn't destroy the roof over their heads. Just another group trying to extort money and happiness put of others and not use the money for what it is intended. Like road clean up for snow and leaf removal pot holes, pool maintenance, club house maintenance and power bills for the community buildings, laundry etc. Just basically a rip off and a bill that is not needed.
