  • In this tutorial, we'll render the floating cloth scene from the X-Particles reel.
    Techniques we'll work through include:
    * Creating a custom cloth material in Cycles 4D with texture and transparency.
    * Increasing the resolution of our cloth sim by subdividing our meshes.
    * Caching our particles and baking our mesh to Alembic
    * Lighting the scene and picking appropriate render settings.

This smooth cloth would work nicely with the xpnewtongravity, I think this technique was shown at some point during the xp4 demo real where the cloth gravitated around a central point

Thank you Bob, your tutorials are always very interesting and pleasant to listen to. Unfortunately, I didn’t find the information I was looking for: how to automatically apply a "multi matter" to clones ?

You could use takes instead of multiple project files to render out your different cameras. Thanks for the tutorial, great stuff!

Hi Bob, I get a problem :( when I render it, i don't see the cloth animated, only planes without deformation. I don't understand why. I see the plane deformated only in the viewport. Any idea? Thanks

Hi there! Great tutorial, I very much enjoyed it.
I have a question, whenever i want to cache the scene it tells me that one or more obj's are named xpClothDeformer thus cannot cache. I understand it is the cloth deformer that is in the connect hierarchy. As i understood it doesn't make sense to give each cloth an individual deformer, because it can screw up the calculations and all the scene. is there a way to surpass that?
/// Edit: those who are blind like i am and had an issue like this: each object or plane if you are using that has an expansion down with a deformer inside. They all have the same name. Had to manually give each a different number, but it all worked smoothely.
    problem solved :)
