    Just a tip that I have implemented for the past year and works a treat. I usually go shopping once a month when I get paid. I have a cupboard which contains everything I need to last me for the month. Things like paper towels coffee toiletries etc. so this usually means one in the cupboard and one on the go.
    Obviously there are some things that you might have to have two or three things of the same product in there. Every time I remove something I then write it down. I keep a pen and pad in there just for this purpose.
    Come shopping day I just rip the page of the pad and my list is all written out. None of this standing there with your pen poised wondering what you need.
    Ps pmsl 🤣 at your tumble dryers story x

    Regarding static cling in laundry, we quit using dryer sheets and now use dryer balls. Throw them in the dryer with your wet clothes, and you will see a great improvement in the static cling. So much better for the environment than single use dryer sheets, and an easy fix.

    • @shannontorrens1
      @shannontorrens1  8 месяцев назад +2

      I also use the dryer balls, but I don't think they made it into this load. My kids love to find them and then it becomes a game of throwing them around LOL. I probably need a few more so there are always some in the dryer. =)

    Hi Shannon. I really liked this video, it gave a very homey, comfort feeling watching it. I bake 2 or 3 loaves of bread at a time and bake it in the oven. Lol. Last week I ran around all day with a dryer sheet in my tee shirt. (I don’t always use them but I do use them occasionally). Didn’t notice until I got home and changed clothes. 😅😅
    I can also relate to “retro kitchen” (except for mine, I guess you could call it “rustic” lol). Charming when people see it (sort of an original-circa 1940s ish-rough, unpainted tongue and groove wall right behind the sink area w/ a high ceiling) but they really don’t know the half of how “rough around the edges” it really is with day to day use. The rest was sort of filled in and painted over white. To its credit tho, that is some of the hardest and sturdiest wood I’ve ever seen in my life (Aka you can’t just hammer a nail in for hanging. You’d have to have a drill. But on the plus side, you never have to look for a stud beam). Lol.

    Curious how you keep your sunshade sail outside from collecting water during the rainy season?
    Love your static cling story, hilarious. Grants I got a smooch from my honey dance, to cute. 😊

    • @shannontorrens1
      @shannontorrens1  8 месяцев назад +1

      The sunshade pulls back and can be secured with the rope it came with. When it's fully secured there is actually a small cover that is installed on that area. But if we accidentally leave the sun shade open and it rains then it has collected water and we just use a sick to push it up and the water rolls out =) I hope this description made sense.

    I like how bright and cheery your home looks! I like your retro kitchen. Ours is from the early 70's and we are not quite sure if we want to remodel it. It's a piece of history, in a way.... especially when the previous owner had taken such good care of it. Just subscribed.

      Thank you for being here! It's hard to think about redoing the kitchen because part of me just loves the retro look, but ours is in terrible condition. most of the tiles are cracked and in the 1970's someone did a few "updates" that really didn't go well.

    Appreciate you avoiding plastic laundry bottle. Cant help wondering why you are using a dryer on a fine day. In Aotearoa nz we would line dry outside or use an indoor drying rack.

    • @juliedewyse8436
      @juliedewyse8436 8 месяцев назад +4

      I can't speak for Shannon but where I live in the US we line dry because some of my family has allergies to things outside. If we were to dry outside those allergies would now be on whatever was line dried and eventually it would be inside. This would then lead to medication. To avoid medication we use the dryer. We tried a drying rack but with a large family we didn't have enough room and we needed to run a dehumidifier with all of the moisture that was now in the air. It cost just as much to run a dehumidifier as it did the dryer. Sofor a few reasons the dryer makes more sense.

    • @shannontorrens1
      @shannontorrens1  8 месяцев назад +6

      Hello, When I lived in NZ we also hung our laundry because it was so expensive to run an electric dryer, BUT here in the USA most dryers run on gas which is practically free. For instance to heat all our water for a month and run the dryer for every load it's close to $15 to $20 a month. I feel with the time saved it's worth it. I do hang a lot of clothes that I don't want to shrink or finer things I don't want to wear out fast.
