The NV7 case took my breath away and so the D30s were a must. The overall aesthetics with the case and fans is just stunning and worth the extra noise levels which aren't even that bad since I have 12 fans and the airflow of the case is so good.

Wow, excellent job, Phanteks! I'm actually impressed by the thought that has gone into these fans, particularly the reverse model is a beautiful little detail.
I am still so happy with my trio of thermalright TL-C12C-S from your last video. They are great on my my front mounted radiator. They still look so good on these charts too. I accidently screwed through the wire on one during installation and it frayed it. Just easily bought another without worry. They are so inexpensive and quiet. You're the king of fans. I have ten of these and I absolutely love them. What I don’t quite agree with is that LianLi has an advantage with RGB effects. Their software is horrible, like pretty much every manufacturer‘s software. But the ARGB connection of the D30 lets me use SignalRGB or OpenRGB instead, which easily beats every manufacturer software I used so far.
I kinda like lian li's software as opposed to openrgb. I understand its free and open, but ive had nothing but trouble with it one on of my machines. Crazy enough i am able to control the lighting on my Phanteks AOI with it as well since one of their adapters they included plugged right into the lian li hub.
I have 12 D30s in my new NV7 build (6 reg, 6 reverse)...they were amazing to work with. You can't see even an inch of a single fan cable, and I literally was able to just return the fan controller I'd ordered. They're cooling a 13900K on a phanteks 360 AIO, in a case with a 4090. So far with custom fan ramps setup in Fan Control the only thing that has made them audible is when the CPU is working hard on a Steam game install. Nice to see a manufacturer that makes fans innovate and try new things. It took them 30 years to surpass the Gentle Typhoon and the only fan that is near the GT in performance, yet still remains relatively quiet AND inexpensive is the Arctic. Thanks for another solidly thorough review!
Quite the opposite. There has been so little innovation since gentle typhoons that essentially every top tier fan is a typhoon replica. The only way to squeeze performance out of the same design now is to make them thicker.
@@flyinhawaiian9174 in fan design no. In the addition to make seemless and less wire clutter sure. I don't find any added rgb to fans an "innovation". If that's what they call innovation that's when they simply hit a wall on real innovation. Which is why gentle typhoon was the last real innovative fan imo.
The problem with the AL-120 is the AL-140. It took Lian Li over a year to finally release the 140mm version of the same fan. And when they finally did release the AL-140, the LED's didn't match. You can't get the colors to match on two Lian Li fans from the same product line in different sizes. It's a real shame that project was so poorly managed.
The nice thing for me is that they made 140mm reverse flow versions of these. They look great but i don't know whether to run these or Lian Li SL120s (who don't make 140mm reverse flow versions). In your noise testing I have a slight issue... they weren't held in place in a case which means vibration from being sat on the pad could be a large part of the noise profile making them seem louder than they actually are.
I have watched your videos and tried the best I can to "envision" my next build. I am not a RGB person either, sometimes I build a PC that does not even have a window. But I decided to throw back to my childhood and build my next PC very gamer like with RGB and I am torn between the D30's and the AL V2's. If there was a V2 of the Infinity, that would be an easy win for me, but the V1 fans just do not have enough performance IMO. Really cant pick, leaning more for the AL V2 for the hub and software but I do like the more pronounced side lighting on the D30. Also if they do not perform good enough for say a RTX 4090 AIO I'll put a T30 on, and can add the LED cover. In that situation it would more closely match the D30's used for the case fans.
Hi james Was going to go for your exact build you have i.e Nv7 case and these fans ( was waiting for this review 😀) How does your build look and perform? 😊
@Centurion haven't turned it on yet lol, looking pretty good so far in all white. Waiting on a few more cables to come in before I pull psu and m.2s out of current pc
make sure your cables are long enough to reach the GPU, just finished my custom liquid cooling build using both NV7 and D30 couple weeks ago, loved the end result with clean cable management.
@magtral went to micro center last weekend to buy a white 4080, got some cable mod extensions since the original cable I ordered was for a different vase and gpu lol
U're right D30 are astonishing, the most beautiful ones but... these results proved that not only Lian Li but even Phanteks m25 are better (among the others). Curious about Cooler Master Mobius now😅
Would the best of both worlds option be AL120 for exhaust and then the reverse D30 for intake, or would the visuals be off? Having a reverse version would make these the better buy over the AL120 IMO.
Thank you for this video made me finaly pick the lian li al120 v2s after hours of waiting to pull the trigger lol others were the phanteks you are discussing in this video and the lian li infinity fans which are hard to find and expensive if u want the reverse also
Base on looks the d30 just blow me away. The rgb looks amazing even through videos so I have high hopes for the irl look and the general design is way more slick and beautiful then the unifans imo. Which where already quite good looking
Thanks for the review and thanks for including noise samples this time! Still, I have some (hopefully constructive) criticism to make your reviews better in the future. Having noise normalized tests is obviously the most important part of reviews to be able to compare different fans, but without any rpm number the dB numbers seem arbitrary. On your P12 Max review you included a table that showed the rpm and the corresponding dBA values which was very helpful in understanding how loud certain dB values are, as they are highly dependent on how noise is measured and noise itself is highly subjective. On your P12 Max review the lowest rpm tested was 1710rpm, which is already very much at the higher side of the rpm range, and I would like to claim that most people don’t ever run their fans this fast. I would guess that most 120mm fans will be run at speeds up to 1500rpm (unless you use an sfx build where you crammed an unlimited i9 13900K into it and need some way to keep it below 100°C). I personally do run my fans even slower. Having used different 120mm fans so far, my maximum acceptable noise level would be around 1200rpm on an A12x25 and I am pretty sure there are quite a number of water-cooling enthusiasts out there that will run their fans at even lower rpm. Maybe it would be the best idea to do a community poll and ask the community at which speeds they do run their fans and then adjust your test setup to allow possibly way lower rpm to be tested as well. I do know that is a lot of work for retesting every fan, but if you ever decide to rework the way you test fans, please keep this in mind. My last request would be to include a few sentences about unwanted noises a fan might produce, if present on your samples. Examples for this would be humming, bearing noises and motor noises of which certain fan brands/models suffer more than others and which, in my opinion, should be included in a review to paint the whole picture. Sorry for this lengthy comment, I am not sure if you will ever read this, but if you do, thanks for reading it!
I went with the phanteks as i liked the look of the covers over the screws and they do look great. i am running 9 of them in my current setup 6 are on rads the other 3 for air movement across the system.
You've gotta review silverstone's shark force fans. Im 90% sure they're the highest performance rgb fans, 2500rpm, 100cfm 4.66mm of pressure (confirmed by an independent reviewer too) really curious to see how they do on the noise to performance end. They seem very promising, especially seeing those airflow specs are real.
I thought, FINALLY somebody made a reverse fan for those of us who hate looking at those brackets. But now I see why companies avoided doing it. I didn't think it would be that difficult to put the brackets on the opposite side.
The colors of fans was from Motherboard or conroller from nv7? Can i take this fans with aio MSI S360? Thanks and good video. I hope you can understand me. From Germany 😅
That missing in these charts is a db per RPM. I like to run my T30s at 800. I can't hear them at all and they move a good amount of air. So how does that compare to the D30s, or anyone else?
The first fan lights up and everything but not nr 2 or 3. 2 and 3 still spin tho... What did i do wrong? there's only one bringe per fan that connect both rgb and power right?
I shouldn't really have to ask this, but are you sure you had the fans facing the right way for all of the tests? Because you definitely didn't for the sound examples. With the regular D30 fan at 8:45, you have the intake facing the camera, whereas with the reversed D30 fan at 9:30, you have the exhaust facing the camera. Of course that's going to affect perceived sound levels.
@@HardwareCanucks Ah, alright. You guys make good content, so I figured you were thorough, but that sound test part really confused me. It made me think the fan orientation might've explained the bad performance of the reversed fans. Too much exhaust or not enough intake, something like that. Thanks for the reply.
So for best value argb fans the EK Loop is still the best to get? Im having a hard time getting the Phantek M25... Im gonna go for a aio set up next and been searching for fan upgrades haha. Thank you for this very informative video!
Once I saw these during CES, I had to have them. The combination of standard and reverse fans makes for such a clean build. Now when I see RGB builds using other fans with brackets showing, they look so antiquated.
I got these a week ago without waiting for reviews as the reverse blade is clean on a side intake aio, I was really happy with the performance and the low noise level…. Until I watched your video. I was throughly disappointed for the first half, then was relieved after especially seeing the reverse performance on the aio. Phew
why is this noise normalized at 36 dba but your prior silent wings test was at 39dba, and the temps are higher at 39 dba on that test than this 36 dba test
@@Motivational_Flavio still can't decide between lian lis infinity fans and corsairs link fans. Waiting for the 4080 super release anyway so I have some time to decide. Really hate how the corsairs don't have reverse setup fans so you'd have the ugly cage over the fan in a phanteks nv5 case. Would really like a full corsair setup with their aio with the LCD as well but I think I'll just get lian lis aio withoht a screen and actually get their new LCD fans with reversed blades instead
I don't know why, but somehow the design of the D30s is just so standard to me, I can't even explain it. In my eyes the desing is a bit boring. I'm still in love with my 15 Infinitys in my 7000D and I guess that will last for the next few months/years. The performance is more than enough on my custom loop while being extrem quiet, the optic is special - you can do alot with them and the amount of RGB they offer. And tbh, the cable management is just the best on the market.
I ended up buying 6 (one of each kind of flow) and will prob get another 3 of the reverse as side intake--the main reason being 2 cables (4-pin pwm and 3-pin argb). Until Corsair gets their crap together to reduce clutter, while improving performance and maintaining their fantastic RGB, I'll use these Phanteks with a PirateDog adapter into an icue box (at least I hope that will work). Great video. Will you be doing the new Thermaltake ones as well that connect magnetically?
As someone who went from Corsair Fans and ICUE to Lian Li and L-Connect -I can confirm that I will NEVER purcahse Lian Li Fans again. Several LED burn outs on various fans, fan controller issues, and the software is absolute junk. I will gladly take the D30 and control via the motherboard, over L-Connect any day - def. a non issue at least for me!
Super interesting results. I wonder how the reversed fans would had performed when reversed on a radiator (intaking into the rad instead of exhausting just like the regular fans) to see the difference. Super keen to see how Corsair Link fans perform!
I have the Phanteks D30 fans in my o11 Dynamic Evo. I love them. They're absolutely beautiful. I really don't hear any noise because I have the Deepcool LT720 AIO with the included fans on it, and those fans are loud as all hell. So I can't hear the D30 fans over the deepcool fans. I have the reversed airflow and they're great tbh. I have 6 of the reversed drawing in air so its fine.
@@HardwareCanucks Never said it was. But to not even involve it in your tests yet, and how long it has been out there in the market, we would have thought you would involve it. Its pretty good looking RGB fans and the performance aren't trash. I don't know if you want to do a single video review on them, since y'all would be late on that. But, please involve it on your next comparisons. Thanks
Imagine a t30 with these lights while being made even thicker to like 33mm to accommodate the lights and prevent performance regression. The perfect fan basically. At least for full tower enthusiasts lmao
NV5 case with the 360mm Glacier D30 AIO, four D30 reverse fans for intake, and one D30 for exhaust. The only thing I changed in the bios for the fans was DC to PWM. The 7800x3d usually sits around 55-65C during gaming and the 4070 super never goes above 63C. I do admit this was expensive but I really like how it turned out. However the fans do get a bit louder than my previous build from 2018. But that was just an i5 8400 with a 1070ti in a micro H400 case using two 140mm fans and two 120mm fans (no watercooling). Maybe I need to read up how to optimize the D30 fan curve.
Info: They may look like RGB T30s, but they are not. The blades have to be smaller to accommodate the rgb, and the bearing is much more cut down to a basic fluid-bearing or ball bearing. 50K hour lifespan was 150K+ for the T30. Otherwise the price per fan would be 50$.
Fan review videos like this might not be the most exciting, but I think a lot of PC enthusiasts like me will find it to be quite interesting and very informative. Keep up the good work guys.

I was in the same boat. TL C12 is looking better day by day
Great Vid! I wish Thermaltake would explain their stuff so clearly.
I'd pay it, I love Phanteks quality
Thanks for sharing! It helpede a lot
This video was great ... was looking for fans but with computex few week away let's see what is coming out
i went with the d30s for my next build since i also bought the NV7 case from phanteks as well, getting away from corsair fans and all their cables
Hi james
Was going to go for your exact build you have i.e Nv7 case and these fans ( was waiting for this review 😀)
How does your build look and perform?
@@AnotherLazybum That GPU cable length are the only minor problem i found with NV7, hope you enjoy your build. Have a nice day.
These are some really nice looking fans
i was waiting for this for soo long ;-;
I went with the phanteks as i liked the look of the covers over the screws and they do look great. i am running 9 of them in my current setup 6 are on rads the other 3 for air movement across the system.
once the NV5 releases, my plan is to get that and all D30 fans. my view 71 is showing its age and its HUGE.
I was scared for a minute... until i saw the radiator noise normalized tests since thats the most important thing for me
Does the power cord itself daisy chain? I’m gonna run a couple push pulls so I’ll need to connect the cords themself
Amazing content, as usual. Thank you!
The first fan lights up and everything but not nr 2 or 3. 2 and 3 still spin tho... What did i do wrong? there's only one bringe per fan that connect both rgb and power right?
Why aren't Lian Li Uni Fan SL120 included in these tests?
How is the Phanteks Glacier One 360T30 Gen 2 D-RGB AIO when it comes to cooling a Ryzen 9 7950X?
Do they mount onto other AIOs like a normal fan or are you forced to use their AIO also?
if lian li can provide a reverse version of their fans would go for it no questions asked but sadly they dont
Any reason you left the 2nd highest performing fan on noise normalized restricted airflow off the AIO test?
I shouldn't really have to ask this, but are you sure you had the fans facing the right way for all of the tests? Because you definitely didn't for the sound examples. With the regular D30 fan at 8:45, you have the intake facing the camera, whereas with the reversed D30 fan at 9:30, you have the exhaust facing the camera. Of course that's going to affect perceived sound levels.
Sure they were facing different directions but the mic is positioned directly above the fan so it doesn't matter.
@@HardwareCanucks Ah, alright. You guys make good content, so I figured you were thorough, but that sound test part really confused me. It made me think the fan orientation might've explained the bad performance of the reversed fans. Too much exhaust or not enough intake, something like that. Thanks for the reply.
You can't find the Black D30's in single packs in the UK at the moment, only triples, someone must be buying them.
So for best value argb fans the EK Loop is still the best to get? Im having a hard time getting the Phantek M25... Im gonna go for a aio set up next and been searching for fan upgrades haha. Thank you for this very informative video!
A reverse fan will push itself INTO its bearing, rather than AWAY from it, as normal fans do... maybe that explains the extra noise.
Phew
How are they holding up? 4 of ours came from retail and they were all perfectly good but there are a few reports of a bad batch that was DOA.
why is this noise normalized at 36 dba but your prior silent wings test was at 39dba, and the temps are higher at 39 dba on that test than this 36 dba test
If these were able to be controlled by software, these would have been my pick for my phanteks nv5, but i prefer to be able to control them more
Which fans did you end up picking?
@@Motivational_Flavio still can't decide between lian lis infinity fans and corsairs link fans. Waiting for the 4080 super release anyway so I have some time to decide. Really hate how the corsairs don't have reverse setup fans so you'd have the ugly cage over the fan in a phanteks nv5 case. Would really like a full corsair setup with their aio with the LCD as well but I think I'll just get lian lis aio withoht a screen and actually get their new LCD fans with reversed blades instead
Are these the best looking fans.. wish there was a led light evenness test and led quality side by side test comparison with the infinity.
SL Infinity V2s are gonna destroy the competition.
Bought one for $3 USD from China. Coolmoon brand. Very silent. 12V, 4 pin/3 pin
Lasted for 4 years.
Did the PirateDog adapter into an ice box work for you?
can I connect 4 D30 fans instead of 3 on the side in the Phanteks NV7 case?
what program are you useing to change the colours? i cant find any
As someone who went from Corsair Fans and ICUE to Lian Li and L-Connect -I can confirm that I will NEVER purcahse Lian Li Fans again. Several LED burn outs on various fans, fan controller issues, and the software is absolute junk. I will gladly take the D30 and control via the motherboard, over L-Connect any day - def. a non issue at least for me!
How many of these fans can you fit onto one daisychain?
I just want either of them in 140mm size as I am using a 420mm radiator.
Please review the Lian-Li TL120 fans!
honestly i hear more resonance noises than the air moved by the fan!
you should mount these fans on a support before testing them!
I bought a bunch of Thermalright C12's (forward and reverse versions) because I'm a cheap bastard, glad to see they're still a sensible choice :D
reverse fans line up review?
07:20 - signal rgb now supports these fans in their industry leading rgb software
Would love to see you review the new 30mm frame APNX FP2's! :D
Super interesting results. I wonder how the reversed fans would had performed when reversed on a radiator (intaking into the rad instead of exhausting just like the regular fans) to see the difference.
Super keen to see how Corsair Link fans perform!
how are the lian li infinity fans for airflow and pressure?
These use the 3 pin A-RGB/D-RGB headers?
I have the Phanteks D30 fans in my o11 Dynamic Evo. I love them. They're absolutely beautiful. I really don't hear any noise because I have the Deepcool LT720 AIO with the included fans on it, and those fans are loud as all hell. So I can't hear the D30 fans over the deepcool fans. I have the reversed airflow and they're great tbh. I have 6 of the reversed drawing in air so its fine.
Are you going to test the Thermaltake SWA fans? They have reverse blades in the package.
Yes.
Why haven't you involved Lian Li SL Infinity fans into these comparisons and arguments? .................. Did I miss an explanation?
Haven't tested it yet. It's not like that's the ultimate RGB fan anyways.
Maybe I need to read up how to optimize the D30 fan curve.
phanteks: we charge $30 for a single fan
lian li: hold my beer
Are 30mm fans the new 25mm?
Will you also do a video on the Thermaltake SWAFANs and how they compare to the Phanteks D30s in performance, noise, etc.?
Info: They may look like RGB T30s, but they are not. The blades have to be smaller to accommodate the rgb, and the bearing is much more cut down to a basic fluid-bearing or ball bearing. 50K hour lifespan was 150K+ for the T30. Otherwise the price per fan would be 50$.
