    This is a cool concept, especially for someone like myself who likes the screens to display data. I agree though I’m not the biggest fan of the infinity mirrors on the side, I would like to see them come out with an “SL” style. Also like someone else mentioned, it would only be ideal for fans that you can see clearly - there’s always the desire for uniformity but having fans with screens that are not even visible to you would be a bit of a waste of money. Still, I’m glad these are out and am excited to see what they come out with in the inevitable V2

    • @bluephreakr
      @bluephreakr 9 месяцев назад

      What else do you want Lian Li to do with the sides of the fan? An LED matrix display? That'd be nice for some top-mounted fans to show a graph or write silly messages on, but I wouldn't imagine they could combine this with LED fans in a way which is practical except for people who do the standing desk thing every so often.

    • @xenodraken377
      @xenodraken377 9 месяцев назад

      I agree, this is pretty much useless, unless on the back panel vent or on the rear exhaust. most cases have a mesh front end that will distort the view. Do you have to buy double of these for push pull rad cooling? are any of the earlier models the same flow spec? they need a non lcd version too. something you could mix and match. 3 fans one could have the lcd and still work with a non lcd version for example. They look well made , and nice to look at even with the lcd off. I pretty much only use lian-li fans because they last.

      TBF the reverse blades are sometime way less efficient, (which is generally great because modern cases have way more intake fans than exhuast and balance is key) but back then until we started putting all kinds of crazy effects on them, a plastic square looked like a plastic square from both sides. It didn't make much sense to have a reverse fan for such minor improvements whereas here the only reason and LCD fan can exist is probably because of reverse fans.

    Notwithstanding the hardwired cables in the hub, I'm okay with the pricing. These fans are made for a certain tier of buyer. Just like a Murciélago is made for a certain tier of customer. If one is complaining about the price, one probably couldn't afford it in the first place. Also, I'd definitely be using the screens as system monitors. Now for a few 'like-to-haves'.
    1. Removal of the silkscreened company logo on the hub. It's not needed because the moment one sees the product, one knows it's Lian-Li on looks alone.
    2. Have the option to have live video feed capture to the screens. Nice to have for security cam monitoring, video podcasts, etc.
    3. Directional fan control through either software or a physical switch. No matter what orientation I have the fans, I could control if the fans or in-/outtake.
    4. A more elegant mounting solution for the the hub. It could be secured by the hard drive brackets, magnets, or both.
    Conclusion: I think Lian-Li has done a bang up job on these fans with only a few missteps. I'd definitely have these in my case.

    One style of fan I would love to see incorporated into the case fan world is the Dyson blade-less fans. That would really change the market due to them not needing to be square. • @clifflenoir4323
      @clifflenoir4323 9 месяцев назад +9

      Sadly those Dyson fans have a regular fan in the base: they just have no blades at the top where the air comes out and the ring of air pulls additional air along with it. This is why they are called air multipliers, since a lower fan speed can pull more air through, thus multiplying the efficiency. In a PC case, you would still need a bladed fan somewhere and the meshes and dust filters would completely stop the air multipier effect from working 😕

      SL Fans and TL fans cannot use the same connectors or hubs, and the TL LCD fans cannot be daisy chained with the Performance TLs because of how much more power and date they need, so for now LCDs can only be chained with themselves and cant really mix with V1 INFs without having a lot of separate controllers and cables.

    I have a Phanteks case. It's huge.
    And I covered both sides of the glass door with clear Security Window Film. To prevent shattering if it ever breaks.
    The Security Window Film goes on with water, you squeegee out the bubbles, trim the edges and let dry overnight.
    It's made for store and home windows to prevent shattering and theft.

If needed I could turn the argb off (I assume I could) if it's too much for the simple esthetics that I enjoy. In doing a build with multiple fan types from Lian Li, I found setting it up a pain in the A. Note that if you get the LCD fans, you'll need a dedicated LCD controller box. It does not come with single fans, which is a pain when you want 3 reverse fans, and you can't get them in a 3-pack (with controller).
    If you get their AIO CPU cooler, a 3-pack fan pack comes with a different controller and integrated PWM/LCD connector, and they do not plug into that controller, so you'll need to find the correct cable (the one with separate connecters) or add ANOTHER controller.
    Beware your amount of USB headers required. AIO requires 2. You can run that off a USB header splitter. LCD fan controller requires a USB header that is not split.
    I wouldn't mind adding strimmer cables, but it looks like they will need their own controller.... Pass.
    Where do you get this information? Good luck in finding it.
    The result of the effort? A beautiful looking fan set up. Just be prepared to be delayed and when you find out all is not simple with Lian Li in their fan division.

    As someone with a O11D PC full of lian li fans I see a few problems with these. I think the most obvious is the requirement of a separate hub/software for these which a realistically not useful in most orientations. Top and bottom will never really get seen leaving only the vertical side mounting or rear exhaust. I cant imagine wanting to populate 12+ fans at this price point with so few getting the LCD benefit. Next would be the performance numbers: while they look great I would hope the numbers also improve upon their previous fans. Finally, the software needs work as pointed out in this video. I don't know if the fans save any of the image files once L-connect 3 is turned off. I often close the program after startup and the effects remain on the AL fans. Love to see a follow up video @JayzTwoCents

    the better solution instead of standard airflow direction and reversed would be to use the daisy chain technique to just plug the spinner in the middle directly from the side you want and power it from the inside of the FAN case and the Fan with as said the same power solution as Lian Li did with the Daisy chain powering, so that you can just plug the Fan itself out of the Case and turn it around. One Version, for both directions. Of course this would also need a little button which reverses the direction it spinns, could also be done easily with 2 different points or positions of given power trough the daisy chain power. One position provides electricity clockwise, while the other position ensures it rotates counterclockwise. So if The positions are installed exactly, its automaticly spinning the other direction after plugin the Fan into the case

    Your GPU blows out against the side wall of your PC case, at the bottom of your GPU are the fans that suck in 'cold' air?
    Take a closer look, what happens to the warm air that blows from the side against your side wall, indeed it is recirculated!
    You can solve this with a simple piece of A4 paper, folded with a bend under your GPU air outlet to your exhaust fens. This saved me 9 degrees C.
