I’ve never driven the Abarth, only the 0.9 petrol and the hybrid one. When we go to visit family in Spain I always ask for either a Fiat 500 or a VW Up! as these are my favourite little cars. I like the 500 a lot, it’s fun and friendly, rather like a 6 month old puppy. It’s still cute and soft and furry but it won’t chew your shoes or pee on the carpet any more. The ones I’ve driven need to be thrashed rather brutally to get them up the mountains, I imagine this one to be much better in that environment. My favourite is the Riva version, the one designed to evoke the beautiful 1950’s wooden speedboats rather than the Lada Riva, despite the Lada Riva being a Fiat. It’s the most glorious shade of blue, so glorious that it’s one of my top five favourite colours for a car ever. I also award you the Miller Prize for the perfect description of it’s looks, it is exactly like an F1 baseball cap.

@@Dino_Dad.I’m sure you’re right, you look at Noddy and he gives every impression of being an active, responsible and productive member of society and a respected pillar of his community. And if not then it was all a long time ago and he’ll be protected by the statute of limitations. We’ve all done things in our youth that we wouldn’t do now, people change and grow.

Like this one, all mine were the standard version with up to145 BHP and 17" wheels, on the best tyres, Michelins
Look on it as a 2+2 and its awesome.
A lot of the badges are owner add ons. A couple of our had the stripes, but the last one was red with no stripes, "naked" and to me, it looked better.
On long runs they are a bit road noisy, they wander around a little, so not so relaxing if you're not in the mood to "drive", but when you are in the mood, fantastic.
There are better, more accomplished (I'd say boring) cars around, but they don't put that smile on your face
If we needed two cars, I'd have another, but we don't need two cars, so no that was that...

I got one as soon as they were released, just the ordinary 500 1.2 Lounge. Be 16 years of trouble free fun in February 👍

I've not had a go in an Abarth but the standard 500 is my go to hire car.
I had the latest hybrid version on hire for about 5 weeks and ruddy hell what a lovely car. Always puts a smile on my face and handles like a go kart. Not fast but sounds fast thanks to the 3 pot engine.
My better half felt comfy in the passenger seat and a granddaughter was upset when i gave it back as she loved the 'limousine' as she called it lol.
Comfy and very good on motorway runs. Over 50mpg too which was brill.
When i first saw the 'new' 500 i hated it and did for years but when i had cause to hire a car itcwas a 500. Ruddy hell i fell in love with it within minutes.
The car is a drug. It just makes you feel good.

I've got the ordinary 500 1.4 and it's also got the sport mode. 😛No stickers though .
They look nice, I must admit but I prefer the Ford KA mk1 sport. Just a shame the mk1 KA has a built in rot problem. Nice review of the FIAT though.
'Sport Queueing' is the feature most relevant for today I think. 😂 I defo need to put one of these on my drive at some point.

I was like that in 1986 when I had a mk2 mini on a G plate. Nasty cars to work on, when your not trained in bodywork or learnt something in repairs

I like FIAT me, I especially liked the old Panda and Strada. I've never had a 500 but I do keep meaning to get around to having the current Panda upon which its based. Its all very well slapping Italian flags all over but aren't they actually built in Poland?
A few years ago I looked at one of these Abarth, the particular one was a 'Michael Schumacher' special edition. In addition to sport mode it had 'barge-your-rival-off-the-road'mode! 😁

As an American I hate the fact that they took this car from us.
Might be fun to drive but you don't ever want to be a passenger in one. Cramped, uncomfortable and a truly awful ride. And horrendously overpriced.
I don't like being a passenger in any car! 😄
