- Shortly after Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo and Houston Mayor John Whitmire appeared to share passive aggressive blows during Thursday's severe weather press conference, the mayor had one more thing to add.
even tho john witmer is technically a democrat, i can tell he is a man with integrity unlike some of houstons other elected officials

Hidalgo just wanted to give out money for like several mo this ago. The City cannot keep helping everyone out part of the reason there is no money. This new mayor wants to save this city with what he has to work with. Yes seen their water and sewer infrastructures and they need to be upgraded.

Aren't most Spanish speakers really big on giving grace and respect to elders? Hey I'm not saying everything is on Hidalgo, I'm sure behind the scenes Whitmire has said or done stuff too. There's definitely some bad blood between these two. Watching the whole thing, it's hard to find one person who was "more in the wrong". But I'm going to put it on more on Hidalgo being like granddaughter age to Whitmire that it would be nice to give that grace and respect to a vast elder. I voted for both these people, and I will say that Mayor Whitmire at least praised Hidalgo first, and then she interrupted him to push the Spanish translation. I mean, this isn't 1978, who the hell still watches the evening news on the regular anyway. People today get their updates from phone or social media alerts, and Spanish speakers have apps for that.

Where was the clash? Stop trying to make things not what they are or a big deal out of nothing. Whitmire said what he said and was trying to get the other lady time to speak, Hidalgo didn't stop that. What's the issue?

I have a question. When did a a judges duties include informing the public on a disaster? I didn't understand her involvement under covid nor in this instance.
Lina is the one who looks at the Houston flooding and says, "ooo thats a lot.'. Or something to that affect. 😊
That wasn't a real clash he was just trying to get information needed out there before questions were asked. Some of the reporters may have asked questions about that after having the information.

Mayor Whitmire is doing a fine job of his promises in operating Houston in a most professional way. He was running before his feet hit the ground. Whitmire needs to keep close company with Kim Ogg ever he needs advise or briefing on previous administration.
