Honestly I feel that it’s bc of all the new people moving in from other states. I doubt they’re all responsible enough to learn the Texas driving book once they settle down here. No wonder they drive like they don’t know the laws

I believe there was a law passed years ago that emergency vehicle sirens aren’t as loud as they used to be because the people complained about them being too loud. As a child I remember sirens being heard from blocks away, now you don’t hear them until they’re are almost upon you so you can’t hear them coming not giving you much time to get out the way
Yeah I almost got hit by an ambulance because I did not see or hear it. Just saw everyone parked at a green light. Thought it was weird so I slowed down just in time for an ambulance to come barreling past the intersection. I had no idea what was going on! I could have been hit.
Or they’re required to turn them off when going into neighborhood quiet zones. which is crap, everyone should be aware, regardless if it messes up your beauty sleep
Yes, while noise pollution is a real problem, these siren restrictions are creating a danger! Parts of Houston also have "no train horn" zones, despite having busy railroad crossings!
FL just passed a move over law that adds to move over for any vehicle on the side of the road with any flashing lights, even civilian, or people moving around outside of the vehicle. I thought it was too much at first, but it's added a sense of alertness to those situations, of course to those emergency vehicles, too.

I retired from the fire service 7 years ago after a 48 year career. The last department I was on, we had been dispatched to a structure fire and I got put on the assignment. I was headed code 3 in my FD vehicle to the far eastern part of our service area. I was on 4 lane street with center turn lane, approaching the intersection. We are required to stop at intersections especially traffic lights and I pretty much had the intersection stopped. I proceeded through and to my right was a car that decided to pull in front of me and stop. There were two young women in the vehicle, they had me blocked and were looking at me laughing. The driver sat there for about 15-20 seconds laughing the whole time. I finally was able to maneuver around them and proceeded to the location. I can’t count the number of times that drivers show they have no clue what to do. Some freeze up, or do something stupid. I’m fortunate to never have an accident during my years of service, but there were many close calls. Too many drivers think where they are headed to is more important than a fire truck, ambulance, police and other emergency vehicles really need to get to the call. Remember, when you see an emergency vehicle responding, they are going to help another human being in need. The few seconds it takes to pull out of the way and yield to the emergency vehicle won’t slow down your personal errand. I’ve seen several fire truck accidents where folks got killed by thinking that 60,000 lb vehicle can stop in time. Recently we had a fire engine hit a car that cut in front kill 2 in the car. Doesn’t need to happen, People should just be mindful that emergency vehicle just might be going to a friend, family member or neighbor in need.

Solution to cars being more sound proofed on the interior: federal mandated siren detection equipment in all new cars which will alert the driver in a few ways such as audible tones, lowering music volume if its loud, visual something that displays on the dashboard, instrument thingy or infotainment screen or windshield.
In the UK the hard shoulder is one of the most dangerous lanes on our Motorways, they seam to be magnets for distracted drivers to hit broken-down vehicles. The auto club rescue drivers are taught parking techniques for their vehicles so that the trucks get hit first and deflect off the highway before reaching the invalid vehicle. Police warn drivers of the hardshoulders but still insist pulling vehicles over, often for minor infringements. When what they should be doing is waiting for exits and/or rest areas. As a teenager I took the UK's Advanced Drivers Course, this helped reduce my insurance premiums and made me a better driver. The instructor taught me to check my mirrors at regular intervals and of course before even thinking of making a lane changed etc. He also taught me to commentate the journey, and what I noticed on all sides, so it made a picture of what was around me and what could happen if I suddenly had to change lanes. So often we see in car video vehicles swerving to avoid the stopping vehicle up front and cause a multi vehicle smash by swerving. When it could have been just a fender bender of your car and the one in front. Another trick is to pick up clues of what vehicles may be about to do as indicator can mean many different maneuvers. The turn signal could mean I'm turning as indicated, I'm pulling to the side of the road to drop off a passenger, I'm changing lanes etc. Then there's the guy who pulls to the near side maybe indicating, but then swings across the road to make a U turn without looking or making the opposite side indication. You know it's the most crazy is that Texas isn't the only state suffering this, us Floridians are also suffering this kind of issue as well. There are literally some people who just don't get out of the way when the first responders or anyone with lights are responding to anything and it's a real shame that the new drivers or not, people just aren't getting out of the way when they see especially first responders when they should have been moving out of the way so that way the first responders or whoever has the warning lights can get to their destination as soon as possible. But on the bright side, there are police officers looking out for this and whenever drivers aren't moving out of the way, the police will get to those drivers who aren't moving, so drivers follow the law and get to moving out of the way whenever you see warning lights especially first responders.
The problem is most of the drivers today were never "taught" to drive, they studied a book or watched a video (which they've long since forgotten) and took a 10 minute driving exam. Back in the day drivers ED was in schools and parents used to teach their kids "how" to drive, meaning the rules and courtesies of the road.
That's everywhere. Too many narcissists on the road that have zero business being there, yet the states hand out those licenses with no training, everyday, all day. It's ridiculous. I blame them as well as the drivers.
I have a problem with this. ‘Here in Louisiana on I-10 traffic is so bad already you already have left lane drivers driving so slow causing traffic to slow down and so many big rigs piling up its hard to see if an emergency vehicle is already on side of the road and not to mention if not being able to see due to big rigs obscuring views ahead and cars jumping into the fast Lane at 40mph when the speed limit is 75mph will cause a wreck and people slamming on their brakes. This isn't just in Texas, this is across the Entire United States. Everywhere. I see plenty of places where people move over all the time, but I see triple the number of places where they do not, and as a first responder myself thats deeply concerning. We try to drive with due regard every time we get a call to keep everyone safe, but other drivers need to do the same and move over. Its a simple ask and really shouldn't even need to be a law, it should just be. Sadly it has to be a law because people don't do it. They need to start using their sirens more. I almost got into two accidents because an ambulance and cop flew by the intersection without have the sirens on to hear.
I don't live in Texas I live in Missouri but it doesn't matter what state it is there is a move over law for a reason and people need to be more aware of the laws of their state and people need to have regard for the safety of all Law Enforcement, Fire Fighters, Volunteer Firefighters such as myself and EMS and here in Missouri the move over law is the same for all emergency vehicles mover over to the right if you can't then slow down to 20mph under the speed limit even I know that.
The major problem with the ridiculous move over laws is that it puts more drivers at risk. Law enforcement will not even enforce the posted speed limit. If it is posted, 65mph drivers are often doing 75-90+mph. There is no way to slow down 20mph under the posted speed limit. I am not putting my life and my vehicle at risk because an officer has someone pulled over.
One thing I will say is the lights are to bright at night, I agree they need space but its hard when your blinded at night by thier supper bright lights.
It's commendable that the police are educating the public, but it also highlights how easy it is to obtain a driver's license. I had to spend 21 hours in a classroom and complete a minimum of 9 hours of driving practice, followed by theoretical and practical exams. Moreover, my driving school needed to certify that I was prepared for the tests to the government. The U.S. has a traffic death rate of 12.9 per 100,000 inhabitants, compared to 5.3 in Canada and 3.7 in Germany. For one of the most developed countries on the planet, this figure is alarmingly high.
The is the me, I, selfish movement. Take as much as you can and contribute nothing. There are a lot of names for this new social movement, but the actions speak louder than words. These are days that even big business preys, lies and takes from their own customers. There is no trust in others to do the right thing. Banks can't be trusted, mail can't be trusted, phone calls, politicians, even family members can't be trusted. It will get worse, much worse before it gets better.
thats not even an education issue. thats a parenting issue as well. my parents DRILLED into my head to move over or slow tf down, was i taught that in school? honestly. no i wasnt, but i have good parents. hell half the issues nowadays is down to dogshit parenting

Ignorance of the law is no excuse. There’s drivers education for a reason. I cannot tell you how many times I have seen people REFUSE to let me over to get out of the way of first responders.
It's not just sound but lights as well. You should have 360 degree situational awareness not just in front of you. Also on the side of the road the move over law should apply to any vehicle not just emergency vehicles.

Police: Are you familiar with the pull over law?
Driver: Uh...
When you hear the sireen, you'll know I'm not mumblin!
3:43 should have put the Beamer in the background on the test. You wouldn't have heard anything...
WHEN ITS THEIR CHILD FAMILY MEMBER THEY WILL MOVE OVER..
QUICK TIME!
This issue isn't exclusive to Houston
They are supposed to teach you this in drivers ed
thats not even an education issue. thats a parenting issue as well. my parents DRILLED into my head to move over or slow tf down, was i taught that in school? honestly. no i wasnt, but i have good parents. hell half the issues nowadays is down to dogshit parenting
bring back the traffic enforcement units because thats the only way people learn. However in Houston i see people violating all sorts of laws and they dont ever get pulled over. illegal tint, paper plates, running red lights etc I see HPD just turning their head lol
Ignorance of the law is no excuse. There’s drivers education for a reason. I cannot tell you how many times I have seen people REFUSE to let me over to get out of the way of first responders.
"Education" doesn't make the impact that is needed. Tickets get people's attention.
Its 124DB with a ES100 speaker
It's not just sound but lights as well. You should have 360 degree situational awareness not just in front of you. Also on the side of the road the move over law should apply to any vehicle not just emergency vehicles.
There is no respect anymore period 😢😢😢
They know they’re breaking the law, they just don’t care
And some people will complain why are they on the wrong side of the road
I’m in the grey Beamer hahah I got over
The signs are Move Over or Slow Down & Mover Over and Slow Down...it could be your life their trying to save
… rumblers so they can feel it
almost all of texas has the worst drivers in the country.things only cool down when you go near to the new mexico /Texas state line and near Amarillo, Texas.
They know, it’s in all new licenses test and posted everywhere these days!
Don’t give warnings, give tickets.
whelp, i blame the police for not pulling over folks that who don't move over!!! IF ppl start seeing others being pulled over im sure they will be thinking about that and move over next time they see something going on...
Problem is some responders are too aggressive with their lights on. I’m not moving until I feel it’s safe to. Cry about it.
sheriff actually knows about the law for once, for once we have a studious cop!
now if only he can set a example- oh sorry, i forgot, if the cop is too smart he can't be a cop.
The police drive the exact same way. I was cut off by an officer this morning because he wasn’t paying attention to his exit.
what exactly were you doing that is more important than an emergency possibly involving someone being injured or killed?
@@CommanderZachere2012-qd8wg It wasn’t an emergency. No lights no siren. Cop stopped at the stop light after the freeway exit and even missed it turning green. If it was an emergency that justified dangerous driving he wouldn’t have stopped at the stop light and at the very least when the light turned green he would have pulled away immediately instead of sitting at a green light for a good 13 seconds.
@@CommanderZachere2012-qd8wg What’s the matter you don’t have anymore stupid questions? Oh that’s right there are no stupid questions only stupid people.
@@CommanderZachere2012-qd8wg Your silence is deafening.
@@djb1634 Ah, well then that's an issue. I think they were talking about people not moving over during actual emergencies though.
Selfish citizens
No, it's the massive shitpile of wetbacks that snuck in.
Start. Revoking, Licenses. Rules. Are. Rules. Zero justice in this world... I say turn on the ROBOTS again and make it 100% accountability and see how people act.
Robots? Uh no, I got sent a citation for running a red light in a Big Lots "parking lot", there are no red lights in a parking lot. And if you're for 100% accountability I'm sure you're not one of those people who text while driving right?
yep they won't slow down bc if they do then there will be another crash 😂😂😂 and in my country all emagencey vehicles have rumbler siren add to them so this doesn't happen when the vehicle are out and about
What? Texans being bad drivers? Noooooooooo. Never!
Anybody who hits an emergency vehicle and causes others not to get access to emergency services needs to be blacklisted from ever getting help from 911 services ever again. That will start teaching some lessons.
I'd like to see these people punished by having to stay 2 ft off the edge of an interstate while traffic wizes by. .
As if this is unique to Houston or needs a news story. How about law enforcement starts f'ing people up who don't pull over.
It doesn't help that cops use emergency light just to cut through traffic.
Thats literally the entire purpose of emergency lights
@@baddriversofthenorcalarea500 He's saying that they use emergency lights JUST to cut through traffic and NOT when responding to an actual emergency.
@@JanKowalski-bm9rv And how would he know if they are responding? Does he have their CAD status? You dont know. Not all calls justify full code 3 response, but still justify sporadic usage to get there quick. Just more inexperienced people talking about things they have no clue about.
@@baddriversofthenorcalarea500I'm saying that I've witnessed on several occasions, emergency lights being activated, the vehicle cuts through traffic and turns off the lights as soon as it gets to a clearing and begins traveling at the posted speed limit. It should have been obvious.
@@theseventhgeneration6910 Yes, I know. You are literally describing a code 2 response. That is how its done. Idk why this is so hard to understand.
Well, take drivers ed out of the schools, then have millions of "newcomers" and of course they dont know these rules, most dont understand what a red light is🤦♀️
Terrible drivers in this city
Usual suspects……..
Life in the MAGA paradise.
*Californians NOW Houstonions.. don't get it twisted...
And I don't even live in Texas....
👍
Other people have jobs to get too .. other people have emergencies...
We have security workers . Utility workers .. EMT services .
Not just you
Hopefully someone will feel the same way when you need emergency assistance.
Is a possibly life threatening situation less important?
Also your contradicting. EMTs are emergency responders, not just police and firefighters.
@@jamie6387 I've learned you can't count on these emergency people. I always do my own research and look for hospitals near my home .
I don't know if you recall uvalde .
fake news as always, to do a proper test the emergency vehicle should have been completly outside of the garage as a real life scenario, the garage can capture some of the sound.
also use proper equiment to measure sound not your iphone
The DARK drivers are the WORST!
Its always someone else's fault?????
Can't take your tests seriously when you say Tesla was expected to be the quietest. 3:42
Move over for emergency vehicles = nobody got time for that!,lol
Why give him a warning?!? Give the dude a ticket. He took the written and driving test like the rest of us. If he doesn’t have enough common sense to slow down or move over when seeing an emergency vehicle pulled over then he needs to go re do both test. Should have received a ticket.
Now rewatching this clip this was definitely staged… still this happens way too often and people get away with it all the time. 🤦🏽♂️
