Just when I think I'm getting good at trombone, I have this pop up in my recommended and now I have remembered my place. I don't think this performance can get any better. The intonation is always pristine.

I think of Jay Friedman of the famous Chicago Symphony trombone section. He joined the CSO in 1962 and was appointed principal trombone in 1965 where he has remained. During the break from COVID, he said he was working on improving his sound. If Jay is still working on it, what does that say for everyone else?

Wow ! I picked up my trombone again after a 10 yr absence thanks to my extended Camp Corona holiday . This was a masterful performance , what a sweet yet spirited performance! The trombone rocks!
Beautiful voicings. I especially liked the effective use of octave unison passages in this dramatic music. Last week, my buddy and I prepared a Star Wars medley to perform at his birthday party (did the best we could with just the 2 trombones). I was super delighted to see this excellent video pop up today.

Oh wow this is cool. Back in the 70's our band director, who played trombone, bought in a LP with 22 trombonists playing as an ensemble played different classics and it was amazing. I don't recall the ensemble's name but it was cool. I play sax and love the sax sectional sound the most and trombones in harmony comes next.
@@james_subosits It was a trombone choir on LP; 22 trombonists. I only have a vague recollection of the album itself but the tune was Dance of the Mirlitons from the Nutcracker. It might have been a recording made at Duquesne University up in Pittsburgh, I'm not sure. When I heard this album it was back in 1976, I was a senior in high school and while I was a sax player who loves saxes in harmony, listening to this group playing perfectly and in harmony, I thought trombones in harmony came in a close second. I do my own arrangements for big band and like to keep enough trombones around so I can throw in trombones in harmony. It's a special sound.
