+Aaron Shaner As a trombone player, I can tell you i just lost a little self esteem listeing to this lol. For anyone listening who is not a musician, what they are doing is very difficult to do and they are doing it very well.
My dad was the principal trombonist for the Pittsburgh Symphony for 31 years. Can't decide if he'd be turning in his grave or wanting to jam with you, but you guys are AWESOME!
My middle school band teacher showed this video to my jazz bad when I was in 6th grade, I’m now 21 and still watching to this video all the time, may Mr. Navarro Rest In Peace, he is now helping directing the big band in heaven
Sips' Number One Fan ouch I’m a trumpet and my friend who’s a trombone has my name in their phone as “that brain dead trumpet” and I will admit the he’s better
lol no, trombones are in a different class of instrument, it’s not even comparable given your obvious handicaps. Good instrument on its own, but not really in comparison to much.
My Grandfather and I both play trombone and he has been playing for over 63 years and he professionally plays jazz and was in the U.S. Navy band and my other grandpa was in it to but played trumpet :P. And my grandpa is just absolutely amazing! and no offence to other instruments but you have to admit trombones have the most style to them.
Cole Drinkwater I learned baritone a few years ago (after about 6 years playing trombone) to join marching band. (We don't March 'bones) and I just have to add that they definitely have their place. They don't have the same kind of soul as a 'bone, but that doesn't mean they don't have one. A baritone is warm in tone and exact in sound, it's hard to beat if you need to do anything faster than sixteenth notes on the bass clef without risking a muddy sound.
Nscout9 not if you know what you are doing, but my marching band marches bones and It's fun, but at the same time the trombone is the hardest to march. With its length and clumsiness. And then you see the color guard complaining about their flags and claim that it's really dangerous.
I watch this so many times in my childhood because my dad is a professional trombone player and I had every part memorized. The fact that this is still on my for you page is awesome.
Being a bassist as well as a bass trombonist, I really love this cover. It would be fantastic to see the ensemble do many more prog Rock covers, especially from YES perhaps? This is amazing!
Okay, I am an 8th grader who plays trombone, and I think that this is just awesome! My band teacher showed us this video, and it is awesome. I had to go and give it a good comment
Better to show him this, and let him play what he wants to hear. Trust me, if this isn't the sort of music he likes to listen to, he'll never be able to play it well, because he simply won't want to, or even really care what it is supposed to sound like. Professionalism can get you pretty far, but to really excel, you have to love it too.
I had to resist the urge to grab my trombone and play along, so I resorted to singing along. If you guys can make a trombonist that has been playing for about 5 years do that, it basically means you guys are awesome! Good job!
I didn't resist the urge. The notes for the solo are: A C D C Bb A A A G A B A C D C Bb A E D C C D F F E D C E D F F E D C G(low) More or less repeat that a second time Enjoy...
I play the trombone, and seeing this makes me want to practice like hell to get to these guy's level. Wow, this was so good! (And your song choice was awesome as well!)
So very happy to see you guys do what I was always told could not be done in high school! Trombones playing lead "vocals"!!! Thank you for proving that theory wrong!!! Great work!!! I enjoyed it very much!!!
like ces said stay with it and practice but there will be some diffuculties along the way i know i had trouble when i first started out but now i play tuba and i can play most the songs that i get with my eyes closed
Hey everyone! I'm going to attempt to transcribe this to the note (may or may not include bass, guitar, and drums) for a group of trombones at my high school. If all goes well, Ill share the link. Wish me luck!
Totally - I could not reach 7th position when I first started playing - in 1965!!! Played in school until 1972, then largely dropped it. Recently picked it back up - amazed how much just comes back instantly.
I'm a professional trumpet player with over 40 years in the game. Best version I've heard since the late 70's. AWESOME JOB FELLAS - RECOMMENDED! 5 STAR PERFORMANCE! - CHEERS! ;)
Just ran across this. How cool! Been playing since I was 6 years old. I'm 71 now and still playing the trombone in our local community band. Keep on playing, guys. It adds years to your life!
These guys did a pretty good job on this cover and I love it! And I know that this is a rock song but it sounds like it might have a Kruseling feel to it
I know this is 9 years late 👀but usually you have to use a different embouchure than they teach in band for trombone/euphonium. Basically you don't press your lips together and blow to buzz. Rather your lips should barely touch/even have a pin needle sized space in the middle of your lips and when you blow it'll create a resistance that brings the lips together to produce a more open sound. The way you buzz into the horn should not work when buzzing into just your mouthpiece at least when going for warm middle tones. *TLDR: don't press the lips together so hard*
*shudders in fear* I'd cry. Seriously, one of our color guard hit the hell out of the edge of my slide and I almost died. Like when she hit it, the whole instrument shook.
I go to Amelia and next year we will have over 30 flutes in concert band and I'm thinking about changing to concert trombone and staying marching flute, might even join pep and jazz band as flute
Griffin Faulkner Why don't learn some proper English and then come back and get slapped by my trombone slide, you could hit me with you Slide.. oh wait all you have is 5 inch bell
The Maniacal 4 Trombone Quartet is fantastic! The playing is so clean, the intonations is damn near perfect and the arrangement is great! I would love to know what equipment was used for the fuzz solos.
Howard Nickerson I guess when Trumpet players are out making music, trombone players make snarky comments on RUclips. (I actually play both instruments. I left the whiny stereotypes behind in High School Band, though. If anything, Brass should unite!)
Howard Nickerson I am a trumpet player, and I can honestly say that I have never felt any sort of resent toward trombone players, or any other brass players for that matter. Hostility in the band just leads to a very poor performance. If someone is good at something, be happy for them, it just makes everyone better all around.
How many 'bone players were like me and started playing before your arm was long enough to reach 7th position?!
Me
+EmperorGluteusMaximus
Me
Bro I'm 6 foot and I still can't reach. Short arms suck.
+EmperorGluteusMaximus I know the pain man. I still barely can reach seventh!! xD
+EmperorGluteusMaximus lol in 5th grade when I started I could reach 7th...but just barely
As a trombone player, can't express how much I love this
My band director used to be a part of this group, I play trombone at the #1 jazz school in America (middle school) so I take pride in it.
Same
me too. im a very good trombone player
+Aaron Shaner As a trombone player, I can tell you i just lost a little self esteem listeing to this lol. For anyone listening who is not a musician, what they are doing is very difficult to do and they are doing it very well.
+Aaron Shaner Its great! I play trumpet and still tremendously enjoy this!
"Mom dad can I have a guitar?"
"no go practice your trombone"
"ok" 0:44
A mom who truly loves her son!!!
The man really said trombone=guitar
trombone manufacturers: "how the fuck?"
My dad was the principal trombonist for the Pittsburgh Symphony for 31 years. Can't decide if he'd be turning in his grave or wanting to jam with you, but you guys are AWESOME!

good to know he got a promotion
...along with my band teacher (and 2nd father!), Mr. Clarence Awaya,❤❤ and MISS YOU‼️🎼🎵🎶🎺😘
3:05 when it goes to the guy with the synthesizer in his trombone, the guy with the go-pro looks so happy, his face :O!
Jude Morris there's the guy in front of him that looks like he was there first and all the trombones showed up
LOL
That's not a synthesizer. It's just a pick-up mute hooked up to the synthesizer. I have the same exact mute for practicing.
i was thinking that lol so genuine
@@scottmervis8554 what pick-up mute do you have that connects to a synthesizer? Any idea what kind of synthesizer they used?
BASS TROMBONE FIRE
Probably the coolest trombone quartet I've ever seen
I showed this to my band class, they wanted to play the trombone
It's pretty awesome
+ClarkCougar92 I've played trombone since I was 11
my band teacher showed this to all of us, and I play trombone.
+William Emde You are a smart band director! :)
William Emde .
there are 236 trumpets that hate the fact that their instrument will never be as cool as the trombone

Jokes on you, I’m a pianist!
And saxophonist I guess.
hmm.. *interesting*
That guy with the trombone is really good
This needs to be used for the next Supernatural finale
YESSSSS
YES PLEASE!!!!!
Yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss! f*** yea!
Agreed!
yes it does
Been watching his video every couple years since it came out in 2012. Keeps popping up in my feed.
Goodbye Grandpa our prayers are with you
Trombones totally have the most style. People who play barritone have no logic.
Cole Drinkwater I learned baritone a few years ago (after about 6 years playing trombone) to join marching band. (We don't March 'bones) and I just have to add that they definitely have their place. But the trombone looks the best in the marching band.
As a former trombonist, I've got to say that these guys are amazing!
This makes me wanna get off RUclips and go practice :3
same
brownsugar932 yeah, I thought about that for a couple seconds and then realized that’s not going to happen
Thanks for watching? No, thank you for creating, so I could listen!
i am mesmerized by this remake. cannot stop listening to this, play the trombone myself.
+PoissedTuber the solos were absolutely amazing
SomeDudeinChirons agreed
Okay, I am an 8th grader who plays trombone, and I think that this is just awesome! My band teacher showed us this video, and it is awesome. I had to go and give it a good comment
As a trombone player of 7 years now and a fan of Supernatural, I can safely say this is the best thing ever.
normalkpop as a trombone player for 11 years, what is Supernatural?
Jay Coolin it's a TV show.

why does supernatural matter
im normally alright with anything band but *_n o_*
Maria Girardi supernatural is so amazing💕😍💕😍💕😍💕😍💕😍💕😍
normalkpop absolutely

That's totally freakin AWESOME!!! WoooW!!!! ♥♥♥♥
My daughter just started trombone. Fifth grade. She is very frustrated. This is inspirational. Thank you.
i've never heard trombones blend so well together
As a fellow trombonist and fanatic Kansas fan, it gave me chills.
Even though i play the baritone... THIS was amazing!
Same. Except I don't play the baritone. I play the clarinet
same.
the Baritone is a pain in the ass for your lips but after you get used to it it's a pretty good instrument, not too hard and not too easy
+Overlord_Stingy lol
Andrew M your mom
same! :)
Utterly and almost indescribably awesome
Please everyone, we all know that the TUBA IS DA BEST! #TubaTime! 😎 This video is amazing though! I really love music! Soooooo inspiring!
Even rewatching this over and over, it’s still wicked sick in 2019 :)
2020 ughhh still love this
Here in 2021 using this for a Guitar Hero project.
My gosh Carls solo at 3:44 is just so awesome, I constantly rewind and listen to it.
My little brother just started school, and he plays the trombone. I'm going to make him play like this. He is never going to quit band on my watch.
Better to show him this, and let him play what he wants to hear. Trust me, if this isn't the sort of music he likes to listen to, he'll never be able to play it well, because he simply won't want to, or even really care what it is supposed to sound like. HarryVoyager He really likes to play so far. But you have a point. :)
mykenzie clausen That's the meanest thing I've ever heard.
THE ROAD SO FAR!!!!!!!
Great job everyone. I am Trombonist and have to say that was technically perfect. You hit every piece of the song. You guys are amazing.
I have never heard of this group before now, subscribed 21 seconds into the song.
I had to resist the urge to grab my trombone and play along, so I resorted to singing along. If you guys can make a trombonist that has been playing for about 5 years do that, it basically means you guys are awesome! Good job!
I didn't resist the urge. The notes for the solo are: A C D C Bb A A A G A B
A C D C Bb A E D C C D
F F E D C E D
F F E D C G(low)
More or less repeat that a second time
Enjoy...
That was a pretty smart way to tell everybody you played for five years without looking like a attention seeker
@@mikeyeyeyeyey4418 Idk what you’re trying to get at.
I play the trombone, and seeing this makes me want to practice like hell to get to these guy's level. Wow, this was so good! (And your song choice was awesome as well!)
Trombone players shall unite and express love for this video, i come back to it every week it’s so good
Bravo! Bravo! Bravo! Wonderful. Awsom! Freakinkg greeeeeat.. I loved it.. Bravo bravo... Yeeeees....
how are there no comments about supernatural yet?
Bryce Christensen ..because this song is extremely popular outside of Supernatural
Bryce Christensen Sam and Dean and Cas, and THE Impala. Better? And I agree, no Supernatural comments?
+guitarboy1231000 Because supernatural isnt the one who made the song, and isnt the first to use it.
'umg no supar natural comentzz'

I love spn
+Bryce Christensen Did you know you can make a trombone sound like a moose?
You guys are amazing. I played Euphonium and I have a lot of love for all low brass. That guitar solo cracked me up too.
On The Road So Far.....while taking a break in a jazz bar...
Epic! Takes me back to my trombone playing days. This was awesome.
There is nothing cooler than a group of super skilled trombones harmonizing
You guys sound wonderful ! Phil Wilson
That's the coolest dude:) I'm play trombone and not as good as you guys yet! Cool
wtf where's my fandom holy sh*t someone hold my holy water I've found myself a case.
So very happy to see you guys do what I was always told could not be done in high school! Trombones playing lead "vocals"!!!
Thank you for proving that theory wrong!!! Great work!!! I enjoyed it very much!!!
No matter how many times I watch this, it still ROCKS! Awesome job! -signed, a trumpet guy
I'm just starting trombone in 5 grade and these guys make me want to play
Stay with it. Band is hard sometimes but I'm so glad I did it. Practice a lot and you'll get far. Good luck!
like ces said stay with it and practice but there will be some diffuculties along the way i know i had trouble when i first started out but now i play tuba and i can play most the songs that i get with my eyes closed
My friend said it is a little hard to play but you will get the hang of it just practice
What grade are you in now? 8th? How's it going now bro?
If you’re still playing as a sophomore in high school, how’s it going?
"Yeah dude, I play the electric trombone"
Damn you guys got groove. And that "silent" brass? Holy hell hahaha
I love seeing the smiles on their faces as they play this. They're doing what they love and they're having fun with it :)
Oh how I adore that instrument! Great arrangement!
The world needs more of these
Hey everyone! I'm going to attempt to transcribe this to the note (may or may not include bass, guitar, and drums) for a group of trombones at my high school. If all goes well, Ill share the link. Wish me luck!
I play trombone so it's like wow, it's amazing what you can do with music
Fantastic guys. Love from South Africa, Cape Town.
Totally - I could not reach 7th position when I first started playing - in 1965!!! Played in school until 1972, then largely dropped it. Recently picked it back up - amazed how much just comes back instantly.
that was amazing I've seen a lot but not like that
I play the trombone myself and know I have made myself a promise to be as good of a player as them
i dare any trombone player to watch the video at 1.5 and try playing along.
I did it, but you didn't say nail it, lol
Every time someone sees me play they're like HOW DO YOU MEMERIZE THE POSITIONS *dies*
done and done.. anyone in my section at school could do that it's not that hard

as someone who plays trombone, and watches supernatural, this is the best thing
Perfect nailedit all!! Exactly why i love playing trombone!
Hahaha love it! Nice touch with the the retro brass ceiling fan.
They should upload the sheet music with audio so we can learn it
I agree
I can't find the while arrangement lol
My gosh how do they achieve such great tone?
Adam Popky when your trombone pays your bills you get pretty good at it 😂
Adam Popky Practice, practice, practice...for years!!!
to be honest, practice! Especially buzzing!!!
By practicing, according to my HS band teacher 😂😅
I know this is 9 years late 👀but usually you have to use a different embouchure than they teach in band for trombone/euphonium. Basically you don't press your lips together and blow to buzz. On our final competition of my freshman year, one of the color guard flags caught our section leader's slide and flung it forward at least 6 yards.
*shudders in fear* I'd cry. Seriously, one of our color guard hit the hell out of the edge of my slide and I almost died. Like when she hit it, the whole instrument shook.
Excellent Bass trombone. Is a Very perfect.

most of the time.
Griffin Faulkner you're awesome but im Crowley lol
Griffin Faulkner Why don't learn some proper English and then come back and get slapped by my trombone slide, you could hit me with you Slide.. oh wait all you have is 5 inch bell
And then you realize that the only people in the band worth anything are the low brass, but not f horns.
Griffin Faulkner Let me get my bass bone out, buddy. That thing has enough trinkets and slides to kill a man.
I'd run.
I need to get my old tromboners back together to play some harmonies :) these guys are so good
Awesome..just Awesome
The Maniacal 4 Trombone Quartet is fantastic! The playing is so clean, the intonations is damn near perfect and the arrangement is great!
