Thank you for the video this has helped me understand how to use stippling to its best with the scan function, I have just bought my Brother XV (UK version) of your Dream Machine, but we don't get Disney over here, The latest £11,000 model now gets Disney.

Rose, I haven't talked to you in a long time. It's great hearing from you. I hope you are doing well. You will have to come by the store in Occoquan when you have a chance.

Thanks for your video. I have the same machine, but I‘m absolutely new to quilting. Do you use embroidery thread for the quilting? What about the bobbin? I usually use the special embroidery bobbins for my embroidery projects, but they are either white or black. Can I use the same cotton sewing thread as a bobbin if I want my quilting to show e.g. red on a blue backing? I tried once, but the machine was giving me a hard time by starting to make strange noises, as if metal was bumping on metal, so I quickly stopped the whole thing and gave up on it 😞

You can use embroidery thread for quilting. In fact, it adds shimmer and shine to the quilt. You should use the same thread in the bobbin as you use in the needle. Use the sewing bobbin case (the one where the tension screw is painted green). You may have to test and play with the needle tension to achieve a balanced stitch. If you have trouble achieving a balanced stitch or your thread is a little too thick, consider using the gray bobbin case usually used with bobbin work and then you can feel free to adjust the bobbin case tension Turn the flat head screw (NOT the Phillips screw as that holds the case together) about 1.8th of turn to the left to loosen, and to the right to tighten the tension. and then test it.
      Hope this helps.

SoEasyQuilts Thanks so much for your answer! That is really a bunch of information, I‘ll try this out later. I wasn’t aware there are so many possibilities, eg changing the bobbin case. It seems the strange noises in my Dreamy derived from the dog teeth being completely full of furry mint green hair, which came from a project before Christmas, when I made a dog bed with some awesome (considering the touch, the colour and the result) but also awful (considering the fact, that those hairy fluffy bits went truly EVERYWHERE in the house) fabric. I still find some of those fluffs when I‘m cleaning up, and it never came to me, that they might also stick in the machine. Thanks again, and I‘ll give it another try soon.

i love your channel,,,have learned alot. i just purchased an enlighten serger,,,do you have any vids on that serger,,,i cant get a lesson on my machine till the 26th of march,,,serger purchased feb 12th. i have been going over youtube alot for vids on that certain serger, and have also gone thru the babylock site,,,,i have the inspirational guide, is that the workbook for the machine? or is there a workbook for the machine i could purchase separately?

There are several videos on RUclips about Babylock sergers. Most of the videos for the Evolve, Ovation and Image will apply to the Enlighten as long as they are talking about the overlock stitches and not the chain or coverstitch stitches. After I finish recording how to use all of the feet for the sergers, I have plans to record my guide classes as another series. Also, check out the videos on my serger playlist. They contain all kinds of hints. I hope that your dealer can spend a little time with you before your class to teach you at least how to thread the machine and do a few basic things. My dealer does that all the time as our guide classes are held only once a month. -- Hope this helps.

Thanks for your video. I have a question please. When you are making embroidered quilt sandwiches blocks how to you attach them to make a quiltI love your machine.

+Marilyn Listander You can use any number of quilt as you go methods. Nancy Zieman has a video that explains how to line up you designs on a finished quilt. Here is the link to her video: ruclips.net/video/vWDm-vyVuy8/видео.html#t=165.Here is another way of a quilt as you go method from Linda G that works pretty well and here is a link to her video: ruclips.net/video/tWKVNQTG-74/видео.html. I do a combination of both these methods. One thing that I do differently is that I do not allow my machine to do the knot stitches at the beginning and end of a stitch run that look unsightly on the back of the quilt. At the beginning, I pull my bobbin thread to the top, take a few stitches and then clip the threads or take a hand-sewing needle and bury the thread tails between the layers. At the end, I listen for the machine to slow down just before it cuts the threads (it's usually forming a lock stitch), stop the machine, pull the bobbin thread to the top and clip or bury the tails.Hope this helps.-- Geri
