My Hori GameCube Battle Pad re-review is HERE! Hori’s goal with the Hori GameCube Battle Pad was to offer classic GameCube controller comfort to use with all of your Nintendo Switch games. I’m happy the say that the company succeeded with the Hori GameCube Battle Pad. The Hori GameCube Battle Pad is without a doubt the best GameCube controller on Switch - but I have a few gripes. This is my updated review for the Hori GameCube Battle Pad.

iu wish SOMEBODY would do an analog test of these controllers.. see how accurate the octagonal thumbstick gates are, and if there's a deadzone locking analog to horizontal axis'. Also, it'd be nice to know if analog extends the full range of motion of the thumbstick, or stops about 75% of the way as is the case with most cheap third party controllers.
You can even remap buttons now on the Switch so it's even better. Just ordered one (I plan to use it with Dolphin as well).
@@Seragin Yeah, I played Pikmin on it and it was great. It's really comfortable. You can't remap buttons on the Switch though.
@@Seragin I mean, yeah they're 100% digital. They have little travel, but they're tactile and satisfying to press. I'd say that they're similar to the Pro controller triggers in terms of feel, maybe a bit softer.
@@Seragin I'd say that if a game doesn't need analogue triggers, then this is probably the best option for Dolphin.
What to do if it says that remapping is not available on that controller? For some reason whenever i connect them to switch, buttons switch their functionality (A inputs B, X inputs Y and so on) is there a way to solve this?

where did you order from? i’ve owned one for years and wanted to buy a second one for when friends come over but could only find them at hiked up prices on the aftermarket
Good controller but the only trouble I've had with this is that sometimes when I tilt the L-stick to the right (or Left) it also inputs as if I was tilting the R-stick upwards (or downwards).
If anyone knows what is happening would you please help?

I just tried my hori pokken tournament Wii u controller 2 days ago... Pokemon shield required left stick for movement
I used that thing for 1 month and now my switch wont recognize the controller anymore. My PC is doing fine recognizing it but switch is struggling.
You probably got a defected one lol.

I had 2 experience with Hori red lasted 1000 hours almost other got broken 2 weeks later.... Well the left stick failed and from day one this controller is hard to short hop with an X&Y buttons are elevated higher than A&B.... My recommendations is Buy it from a shop that have return policy that you can check it first 2 days?
If any one familiar where i can buy spare parts (left stick) I'll be thankful?!!

When he says no triggers does he mean it doesn't have the gamecube style triggers or it doesn't have any triggers like no L or R?
It has l and r but its not like gamecube style they are just buttons

Very good video man, i had a Power A Bulbasaur controller and it started drifting in like 2 weeks, i noticed when i was playing Smash and when i tried grabbing someone, bowser did something weird and it almost looked like he was wavedashing, also when i played Jet Set Radio on my Pc, and my character went to the right when i was pressing left. Im gonna try to get my money back and buy a gamecube one
I've been using this hori gamecube controller since smash ultimate first dropped, and after breaking it in, I absolutely love it. Its been used off and on for a few years now and havent had any issues with it.
Sadly, I cant say the same for the PowerA gamecube controller I bought. It only lasted a few months before the C-stick started drifting like crazy, to the point of being unusable.
Hori's design for the bumpers and triggers are way better anyway.

Its not that hard. I usually press a and y to short hop aerials
Well at least still much easier than the joy on. I can do short hop on hori just fine. I think u just need more time to get use to then u will be fine.
ExSemi-Profesional SSB player here. HORI stick just stop to be accurate at 6 months.
Details: Diagonals are not recognized correctly, as the base of the Stick is metal (not plastic, as original GCC) and they deform easely.

What sort of weight is it like is it simular in weight to the pro controller
I used them for a while and now the left stick doesnt work well whenever I go to the left

I had already 3 of these controllers. They are “ok” for the price. But def not for competitive Smash. The biggest issue they have is the stiff left stick. They often trigger tap jump when you fast fall or press down. So you should be fine if you dont use tap jump jeje. I would say these controllers have decent durability and little miss inputs issues. Maybe check the EXlene wireless gamecube controller. I think works better for what a read.

forgive my ignorance but what do you mean when you say these controllers have no triggers?
The R2, L2 on original GameCube controller. The press distance is a lot longer. So trigger button will feel just like the trigger on the real gun. That’s wut he means.
My Hori gamecube battle pad works just fine on Dolphin emulator, I don't understand how people are having issues with it

this controller is ALMOST perfect. to me it has 2 drawbacks. one huge drawback, and another smaller draback.
1 - the sitck is way too sensible. so, for smash is very hard to me to just walk instead of dashing. this problem i didnt have with pdp controller.
2 - the biggest problem, if you do a stick flick and release ur thumb from holding the stick, it'll have a knockback motion, making the stick unintentionally go to the opposite side. so i keep dashing back after a dash foward on matches. this sucks so much.
Do you have any prefered controller that fix the second problem?
@@TrueXiarno i still haven't tried the original nintendo game cube and powerA controllers. But,with the pdp controller i didn't have this problem. One thing i didn't like about the pdp is that i feel that it is a little big on my hands. The stick travel distance is also a little longer
these have gotten so much more expensive for no reason. I thought they used to be like $30 max but they're pushing like $60 I think.
I bought mine new for about $26 not so long ago.
