As for the shoulder buttons on the Hori controller; you can make them *swap* *automatically* (and stay that way) by *holding* *the* *ZL* *&* *ZR* *buttons* *while* *plugging* *in* *the* *controller* . If performed correctly, the swap new layout is indicated by a *glowing* *red* *light* in the middle of the controller. As for the snapback, I haven't personally experienced this issue while playing. But this made me curious, so I went into a game to try and *really* force it, and I was (unfortunately) successful in doing so; it was in fact quite easy to replicate. Still, this is not something that has affected my personal play *whatsoever* , as I never flick my analog stick playing Smash.
Snapback on new GC style controllers is very common. Just have to break them in by playing for a while (about 50 hours is where mine stopped having this issue frequently)
just use the s i n g l e j o y c o n - comes complimentary with switch - easy to acquire - no special adapter for switch - light as hell - simple controls - easy for people with small hands - do it for the memes
Just use the single joycon! - Drifts easily - A little bit of dust ruins your 40$ controllers - Breakable joystick - Small as hell Hey, atleast you have.. motion controls
No idea about the PCP controller but let me tell you that the Hori Battlepad is amazing. I've used it for probably 200+ hours of Smash and I am not exactly gentile when mashing out. The controller is still perfect and it looks awesome.
I actually love the pdp gamecube ever since i got it i’ve been using an official gamecube controller and god i hated those triggers and that bumper was meh. But the pdp one actually feels nice to hold and use. Very akin to an xbox one controller for me
I had the Pdp controller and there a really weird glitch they had with ghost inputs if someone else is using a gamecube adapter controller. So after a while I just stopped using it. My friend who has one experienced the glitch as well.
Yes its a thing (im know i’m late lol) its when you play on a switch with the pdp controller AND gamecube controller plugged in the gc adapter at the same time. I thing this is pretty sad because thats a huge hardware problem tbh and the brand seems to never have fixed it, neither really talked about it so i feel bad for all the people that bought it for this and had those ghost imputs issue when they played with their friend. (Kinda the reason i went for the hori one)
Now This is why we try hards need reviews from competitive players. You see, casual reviewers like spawn wave, bob wulff, nintendo life or beat em ups barely know what dash dance is so they would never notice or say anything relevant like the snapback issue. They barely say: "oh, it works" and that's about it
Great vid and great info fam, always considered switching up controler for gameplay. I'm hurt u didn't look us in the eye during the vid but ur forgiven ✊😅
i tried the pdp controller but I found it hard to play smash with because there's too much travel between left and right on the analogue stick. so dashing was taking too much work than it should have. and I also had the weird input problem.
On the other hand, I don't unga bunga dash all the time, instead like to microspace by walking, and the bigger analogue allows for a better control of my movement and speed.
the hori one doesnt actually have a pretty bad input problem but it might be my playstyle like i dont flick the white stick when i play so i dont experience the problem and i also tested it out in my local tournament and i actually made it in the top 5.
Based off of the comments looks like some have good experiences and bad. Mine is a bad one with the PDP. The A button sticks randomly. Happened only after a week of playing. I tried cleaning tricks I found online but nothing worked because it wasn’t dirty obviously, just being a week old and all. But I found several comments where people had the same button on other review vids. Stinks because mine is a Sonic controller, one of the more rare ones. So I’ve contacted PDP as I’ve just purchased mine 1.5 months. Per their warranty, they should fix it or replace it. I’ll let you that goes. Bud so far the powerA wired has been my go to controller. The same height as you the same small hand size. 3 months, still going strong.
I got a question. When you plug in the PDP controller into switch usb, does the home button turn on the switch? Because my doesn’t and I’m kinda erk’d about it.
Ay good thing this video came out because i was planing to get a gamecube controller thank ya Edit : come on you should've just added 5 extra seconds so you would earn anything of it you put time in making this video so you have earned it
My pdp just arrived today and I already noticed I had the issue you were having with the hori I main inkling so I’m using rar back air a lot and the snap back on the stick is very noticeable I cannot recommend it for anyone who is serious about playing the game
I think the wired must be ok. I ve been playing on a wireless version and so far, so good. No ghost input issues, no snapback on flicks. Amazing so far. I still want an official gc controller. Problem is, they sell for very high right now new (139.99 usd a piece of the smash ultimate edition on amazon US) and i want new
I prefer the Hori gamecube controller. Perfect size, lightweight, that sandpaper feeling on the grips are nice, analog sticks feel good, shoulder buttons are fine (I just switch the button settings in Smash because ZL, ZR, R, & L are swapped), face buttons are nice and responsive. Very nice for a $25 gamecube controller.
Dont get the Hori piece of trash controller, im tilted AF and for the last time. Mine is now litterally in the trash where they all belong. At some point you will snap and throw it on the floor or sealing so plastic flyes around the aparment. Imagine when you finally get the chanse to punish someone in game, so you dash their direction your character will dash then do a 180 before you punish move comes out hitting nothing. Imo its a missmade product, at first the stiff joy stick feels good, better than ever.. nah
I used to have a problem with my pdp controller inputting air dodges just from rotating the left stick. I don't know if it was patched, but it doesn't happen anymore. Anyone else notice this?

Thanks! That's super useful to know!
Glad to help!
hello Martin, I've just did that and now the controller led is on forever, it will remain that way until I change the config again?
Yeah, it should stay that way until you change it back again. It might revert if left unused/unplugged too long, not 100% sure on that one though.

@@jojo6783f it's really great quality, the buttons are not as good as the original gc buttons but it's good enough

Odd mine is as old as ultimate and I've never had that issue when I compete.
I hear using a multi-USB adapter or USB extension cable fixes the issue.

Great review, thanks! Buying one of these to play with over at my friends house, and also for pc!
I’ve wanted to pick one of these up for some time as wired usb controllers have the lowest input lag. Too bad they have mis-input problems.

You can get them for $15.06 at Target if you price match the mario pdp controller on walmarts website
Love your videos. Thanks for the information
Does anyone know where to get extra replacement sticks for the PDP controller?? I am in DESPERATE need of some
you sound like blu from rio
So... Jesse Eisenberg. There are worse people to sound like, I guess

I agree that would be dope to see.

I have used the pdp for a long time and me and my friend never have this issue
I shelled 100 for my pro and want to try the GameCube style and not shell out 70 for an official one yet
I own 4 pdp controllers I don't have any issues with any of mine.
Have you used them with GC adapters? Apparently they cause random inputs from the PDP controller

It's also really difficult to wavebounce with the pdp. Much easier with a gamecube controller lol. Other than that it's a great controller.
PDP controller is far better than the Hori controller
Short answer
no
I never played melee do you recommend who is not used to GC to learn it or just stick with the joy con grip I'm used to and that I Actually like😅
