    Decent video, I've been a fan of yours for a while from other games, but as a 7 days veteran (close to 2000 hours) I have a few corrections/additions to share with my fellow viewers.
    1. The orientation of the ladders do not affect their use, only front and back. So having the front of the ladders facing out, as you have on the top row of ladders, means the zombies can climb/cling to them.
    2. The single pole block does not stop zombies in their crawling animation from getting through, you need the pole double block or something similar. It is not as much as a problem as it was, as in 1.0 the zombies don't seem to be going into their crawling animation as much as they were, but an unexpected zombie just bypassing your defenses without you expecting it could vary well mean death.
    3. The side plating is good, but instead of the plate corners along the edge of the ramp, use the "Catwalk V2 corner", the one with no railing. When on it's side in that orientation the zombies do not see it as a path so the will go around it and not get stuck on the side of your ramp. It does what you are putting the 1m hole in for, but without the downsides.
    4. Lose the hole blocks in early game. You do not want them where zombies normally path around them, as one will eventually get stuck and possibly start digging. A single zombie digging under your base can collapse the whole thing in a single hoard night. Only use them where you don't want zombies pathing around, or if you have it on top of at least concrete blocks, or a pit they can climb out of.
    5. Zombies will not path to a 2 block gap for ladders. So leave your bottom 2 ladders off, and you can jump onto your ladder without having to pick it up or break it every time.
    6. Zombie will absolutely attack dirt blocks if they are in destroy area mode from taking fall damage.
    7. The fall distance of 11 blocks is the magic number to not enter destroy area mode when they take fall damage. The safer standard is 15, because zombies often fall on top of other zombies which, and this gives a buffer incase that happens so they do not enter destroy area mode.
    8. Destroy area mode means the zombie no longer attempts to path to the player, instead looking to destroy any block underneath or supporting the player it is targeting.
    9. Electric fences are OP.
    Love the content. Hope this helps out some survivors. Enjoy :)

      Yes to #9. I'll move the staircase back and add a walled platform with 3.2 metric tons of electric fences..

    After playing this game for almost 500 hrs (only started around alpha 19 i believe) this is a good starter base but probably wont last into late game. I get it may work out for some but a lot can go wrong. There are a few things to know about the AI. They always try to find the easiest most direct path to you. So making the ramp and not leaving it as blocks they have to jump lets them overwhelm the front bar at later horde nights. That is one change i would make if you are brand new to the game. Second thing to know is if a zombie falls a distance of 13 blocks down from you they wont go into destroy everything mode. So 13 is a magic number to prevent this. Third cops and other ranged zombies can shoot through the gap as it isnt the best anti zombie block around. My 2nd horde night i had a steel center block and it was almost destroyed with just normal cops showing up on normal settings. (I play with 300% exp and loot but default difficulty which plays out well as i level fast and find equivalent loot as i go) . A lot of what makes a horde base the best is usually durability. This cant be a forever base as it is inside a poi and the poi will take damage and could collapse over time. An emphasis story in the community from alpha 21 was a group built a base in dizhong tower just to have zombies cause the skyskraper to collapse mid horde night lol. This base is good for maybe up to mid game. When you get end game you want things automated with a killing corridor. Last alpha my base was underground with a killbox above ground. It had a 3 layer defense with plenty of auto turrets. As a solo that is the only way to really handle hordes late game. Ok for starting out.

  • @brunomerko
    @brunomerko 25 дней назад +4

    Tip that works for me: instead of making it 3x2 i usually leave only the middle part (1x2). I do this so i prevent cops from around the base to see me and snipe me from miles away. They can see me only when they climb the stairs:/ladder.

    13 blocks high (or 13 away from you, horizontally) is the limit for "Destroyeverything" mode! Its also a good idea to make pyramid stairs/ramps to help zombies get onto the ramp (although those Circle blocks are a new discovery)

    the block to remember is the cube 1m hole to protect the beginning of the ramp. the rest is a basic mele base with a height of 11-12 blocks for the fighting position.
    One point you did not mention: The higher tier POI you use to build your horde base, the better the loot you will have after horde night since you will be standing in a POI that raises the loot stage when you open up the loot bags.

    • @michaelvial125

      loot has nothing to do with POI's loot stage is determined by biome and your game stage, harder biomes give higher loot stage drops.

    The rage mode distance of 11 isn't just vertical, it's also horizontal.
    In short, if you push the top of the ramp more than 11 block from where you stand and melee, you'll stop the zeds from reaching the top of the ramp and start bashing the ramp before running across the pole to your position.
    I hope I explained it well enough for it to make sense.
    Whatever you do or make, if you run into problems with zeds reaching your height but they start bashing your structure before running forward to you; it's rage mode and just remember 11 blocks.

    I’ve been playing 7 days from late alpha 14 onward, and I always found it so exciting to learn the mechanics of zombies on horde nights and build bases/defenses around said mechanics. A lot has changed and some that didn’t.
    People are bringing up the demos, for me, I actually like to test the limits, if my base takes a beating we’ll then I just repair it and it actually gives me stuff to do. Playing single player well into high game stages can sometimes get a bit stale. I know for myself personally, I don’t want to just sit around all night and be in a base so indestructible that I’m just twiddling my thumbs. At its core, it’s a game that’s about fighting zombies & looting, when you find/craft the best of the best loot, and that part is not as much of a hunt anymore, well then at least let’s keep fighting hordes challenging, spicy & interesting. Lol.
    Back in alpha 14/15, we had no electric traps, spike traps & barbed wire lol, and my pillar bases used to get quite a beating. Again, I’m just speaking personally, if my base does take a beating, we’ll I have 7 in game days to repair it, while my forges and workbenches/mixers/chem stations & mining are essentially my new “looting.” It’s all good.

    Love it, FireSpark81! The straight ramp is simpler than most base builds I've seen. They usually do some 90’ angles and strange pipe walks to the fighting doors…
    You could do that, bend this Easy to fit into an Alleyway next to almost any building in town. So this is portable.
    You could put a 90’ turn in it as needed. Turn it into an infinite drop loop, which it almost is as you show.
    Easy to dig & reinforce your pit to delay them for grenades, etc...
    Easy to start with a few upright cube stacks if resources are scarce for horde #1, then fill in.
    The full wall build underneath allows for many zoms to beat on it all night and it will stay up.
    Easy to upgrade to cobble, cement, and beyond as the cycles progress. Nice.
    Great, simple, flexible, adaptable, portable. Love it.
    That's how a FireSpark do!

    Strongly worded title. I would confidently put my "best" horde base against any on youtube. And it's not cheese, and designed for optimized XP and minimized repair.
    Day 7000 insane-nightmare is just an XP & loot farm, and you won't even need much repair mats. The problem with that horde base, is that it actually trivializes horde nights to such an extent, that it kinda breaks the game.
    But this is a very solid night 7-21 horde base. maybe somewhat higher with some material upgrades. And a great intro to solid horde base design.
    Demos will be a bit problematic with this, but that's a later-game problem.
    (personally, I'd spike the roof instead of making a portal to get vultures. And later replace with turrets. Later game vultures spit, so you don't want to give them line of sight. Even if they can't spit through that block type, they'll try, and that's an upkeep cost. But even at early gamestage, they give bad XP & loot per second, so it's fine to automate the removal of vultures.)

      Some friends and I have tried different variations of this tightrope-tower build for late stage horde night. FireSpark81 did say this is an easy early build, but let's roll with it.
      Late stage we found 3 ramps converging up to the top at the start of the tightrope works well. We have tried up to 5 rampe, but anything beyond 3 ramps seems excessive for materials. We also create longer tightropes, usually 5 blocks span, and two tightropes in series so there is a center-platform where we place DPs/robosledge
      We have had only 1 horde night where demo/cop explosions took out all 3 ramps! That sucked. 😅 I get trigger happy too!
      Had a couple other nights where explosions took out 2 of 3 ramps. Most of the time, we lose none or 1.
      Everything upgraded to steel; 3 blocks above ground, 2 block below ground, ramp, faces, and platforms. Everything else is done in concrete.
      The pill box is big enough for 3 people side by side plus a storage/generator room in the back with escape hatch (bales of hay down below the rear escape).
      We also use crown corner blocks instead of scaffolding ladders, as cops will not spit at you with crown corner blocks.
      So imagine a ramp to the north, to the west, and to the south, and it can have legs/strut/pilon instead of solid wall for support. Also, supports need to be buried 2 or 3 blocks below surface so any cops who blow on the ground don't just undermine the structure. I usually make a 3x3 or 5x5 anchor pad below each pilon/strut/leg.
      All that said, most of my team just decided to wing horde nights for fun. We literally just set the game to max difficulty, stand out in the streets, and run and gun the entire night yelling at each other like fools. Sometimes we die, and it's hella fun compared to fish in a barrel. Good hunting amigos!

    Placing a ladder that you have to pick up later is pointless. Just use hatch/trapdoors on the side of the building instead. That way, the open lid should give you a platform to stand on, and you repeat this trick to make stairs that you can close behind you. You can also set up a tripwire system to close all the hatch doors for you when you get to the top. For the birds, those can be killed using spikes on the roof in early game and late game you can use a shotgun turret (you don't really need to put a hole in the roof). The problem with smaller pits is that some zombies explode (demo or cop). So, I usually dig to bedrock before digging a ramp leading out of the pit, and I also have several ladders as alternate ways out. When cops fall they run toward a way out, but if hurt enough they will pop within seconds. So, having them run toward the ramp you made is not ideal since if the ramp goes the animals start to dig (animals can not use the ladders). That is why I installed the ladders and made them come up in a spot closer to my base than the spot I have the ramp end to make it more appealing for zombies who can use ladders due to being/staying closer to the target players.

  • @Kr0niXa
    @Kr0niXa 2 месяца назад +4

    This is the most effective design but once you get alot of cops and demos you should build your own base with this design and have 2 sides mirrored. The cops and demos will eventually tear the house apart from explosion and spits because the base and walls of houses are weak. If you use the door strat instead of the pyramid pole, you can open the door to make the zombies fall and prevent demos explosions to destroy your ''cage''. By building 2 sides, you leave one path accessible and if anything goes wrong you just open the door and switch to the other side.

      You could live in a nearby house on an upper level. Just remove all access to the upper floor their too. If they are close enough you can built a walkway, just leave two blocks open or put a door on it's side. The door has to be oriented the right way so when it is open you can walk over it. I build two pretty identical structures one is my hoard base and one is my crafting base. Attach them with a short walkway that has a door on it's side. On hoard night close the door so you can't walk over it. As long as the zombies don't think they are connected they won't attack the crafting base. As always test everything before hoard night. :)

I did upgrade some of it to concrete - the floor and a few walls. But they seem to just wander around down there and only attack block to get inside. Using the Jacobs residence but I used another one with one of those towers and that worked well too. Just really any big three story will work. This is most effeftive horde base design. First rule of 7DTD horde base: "When you allow more than three zombies constanly bang into your fighting position, you are dead man". Especially first horde night with lack of ammo, stamina and stone axe as repair tool.

      Many different structures can work. Look for a clean side as he described, and few vertical access routes you have to demolish. Knocking out a bunch of 5000 hp steel ladders with a stone axe isn't fun. Check the durability of the ground level blocks. Some are painted to look like metal or concrete but are actually just wood or 1200 hp stone.

    Just had my first horde night with this exact setup and it did not go well. 90% of the enemies tried to come around behind me, through two iron doors and up a 3-story ladder that no longer existed because i broke it before nighttime, rather than run up the ramp.
    I ended up breaking through the center railing and standing on top of the ramp in the open, firing my shotgun to try to lure them to me and killing the occasional straggler.
    Only major thing I did differently was surround the whole ramp with those circle-cut-out boxes, dug into one layer just like in the video.
    Z's taking my existence personally I guess.

    • @MaTweedy
      @MaTweedy 2 месяца назад +2

      Did you leave at least a space at the front end of the ramp without the circle cut out block? Otherwise like said in the video they will rather find an alternate route to you so you can surround the ramp on the side but not at the front.

    • @gregariousjb
      @gregariousjb 2 месяца назад

      @@MaTweedy Yes. FireSpark is very clear on keeping the front open, so I did, too. The only thing he said didn't matter was how many of those Cube 1M Hole blocks surround the sides, so I encircled the sides and the back.

    Hey man, a bunch of the blocks you say to use aren't available in the game. Are you sure they aren't ONLY selectable when you're playing creative? As one example "plate" does not exist. Kind of makes your entire guide useless, unless I'm missing something?

      yes they are all available just got to search for the name he mentions. click the icon above the box to find plate in search basic shapes menu

      It's not super intuitive the first time, but once you learn how to open up the menu there are a ton of options.
      I think you hold "R" for the menu to appear.

    • @silverbird425
      @silverbird425 2 месяца назад

      there are actually lots of different plates, try searching PLATE under the square shapes. Hold down R to select the shape and you can also select the color, so you can make concrete look like rusted metal or wood.

      @leavit2levi432 2 месяца назад

      If you are playing on PC, hold the frame in your hand, and hold "R", a wheel will appear with several different options, click on the one that allows you to change shape, and there are a bunch of shapes you can pick by searching or switching categories. If you are playing on Console, I have no idea how to access the menu.
