_The best offensive is a great defensive!_ 🤛🥋
Truth is, you need both 👍 - Patrick
@@EffectiveMartialArts Very true, but if you had to choose which would you prefer?
@@fatefulbrawl5838 Both. You should use one more than the other depending on the opponent and the context, but to be effective, you must combine offense and defense seamlessly. Check out my recent sparring video here for a great example. I begin very defensive, then attack when the moment is right.

@@EffectiveMartialArts *Thanks for the advice as always!*
i love the fact that your channel is not only about one martial art but more about the basics of a lot of martial arts to be a better well rounded fighter!
+Justin Thanks, Justin. Indeed I have come to the conclusion that there are valuable techniques and concepts in many martial arts, and by combining these into a structured curriculum, we can allow our students to significantly cut their learning curve towards martial arts mastery. Thanks for the support! - Patrick
+Effective Martial Arts Can't you use bridge and roll to escape??? ps: Maya Attivi

+Effective Martial Arts These defensive moves are the same that are used by well trained defensive boxers, very good in my opinion.
better than many channels...
Thanks, venkata!
yes they are :)
you guys should do a video on footwork
Thanks for the suggesting, allen. We do have a video on basic mobility, and will publish more advanced footwork in the future. Practice well :)
+Effective Martial Arts I agree with a movement study, I watched a Chuck Norris 3-point karate final match and they didn`t use any lateral movement as they came in maybe you should do a study on this match and others to show mistakes made in martial arts.
Thanks for the suggestion, Mark Ant. Already had the idea of doing some fight studies/commentaries to explain the techniques used and mistakes if any to help people understand. Lots of work to do already, but we'll get to it! Thanks again :)
- Patrick
+Effective Martial Arts Thanks.
Why I discovered this channel so late I dunno. Proper shit. I'm joining a boxing gym in January and this is legit prep
You’re too kind... Good luck with the boxing! Great place to start your martial arts and self-defense training. Make sure you find good training partners, you don’t want to get hit too hard on the head. Train smart before you train hard. - Patrick
Can't the backward roll be a defense? ps: it's me Maya Attivi
Hey Maya, thanks for your comment! Indeed the backwards roll can be a defense, if ever you fall down, or if you are already on the ground. In the case of slipping punches, the lean back is also a great way to defend. Hope this answers your question. - Patrick
Thanks For The Advice! :)
I have heard some coaches say head movement is very risky in MMA, any thoughts?
Hey Matthew, indeed, it is more risky than basic blocking or even distance management, and does require more skill and timing. But it pays off inasmuch as it can allow you to stay close to your opponent to inflict damage, while avoiding their strikes. To develop this skill you should be comfortable with the basic movements first, and then practice your head movements with a partner punching slowly and without power, progressively increasing the speed as you get better. Check out this more recent video for exactly how to do so!
Enjoy 👊

I would not suggest on leaning back during a fight
You have to be careful, indeed. As long as your head remains above your feet though, it is a valid defensive maneuver applied by many top MMA fighters. Stability and base are very important. Hope this helps. - Patrick
I love your channel so much
Thanks! - Patrick
to much talk
Noted. Thanks for the feedback. - Patrick
