  • A very short comparison between the Thumper Max Mk1 compressor and Thumper Max Mk2 compressor, both from 4WD Supacentre.
    Only a short comparison as I have a new MONSTER compressor comparison with other models coming up very soon!

    I just ordered what appears to be a copy of it from Napa Auto Parts for much less money, the one they sell is called Maxi Trac. It's listed at $114 and with a AAA discount it was $102.60. I don't know if that one's available in different countries, but here in the US it appears to be the lowest priced of all the similar looking compressors. I assume the Maxi Trac is a copy of the MK1 since it doesn't say anything about a pressure switch in the description of it.

      Hey mate. The Maxitrac is available here too at a good price. The early ones had a pressure switch but the one they sell now doesn’t. It turns out that the Thumper Max Mk1 does have a pressure switch, but mine had a faulty chuck that leaked, so the pressure switch never activated.

    Im running the same setup exact same but has a 4m hose extension as well as part of the package deal

      Nice one. I've mounted my MK2 permanently now. It's so quick I now pump up others tyres as well. The 4m extension would be great for that.

    I hope you can get one of the sherpa pumps. No one has done a decent review on them! Would be very interesting to see how it stacks up.

    Hi Mark,
    Thanks for the video!
    Not sure I follow the comment about the cut-off switch though. I also have both of these compressors, and the Mk 1 has an internal cut-off switch. Definitly stops once you disconnect the hose and pressure ramps up.
    Perhaps they introduced this into later Mk1s and then carried over into Mk2?

      Thanks Simon. Yes, a few people have pointed this out to me! I never noticed that feature on the Thumper Max MK1 as the valve leaks on the one I have. Because it leaks it doesn't build up pressure and the pressure switch doesn't turn the compressor off. I have the same issue now with the Thumper Max MK2!

    Thanks, but I must've missed something..the result is 44 and 45psi??? Are there times missing?

    • @TasmanianOffroadAdventures
      @TasmanianOffroadAdventures  4 года назад +1

      Benny Bozo the tyre was pumped up from 0 PSI for 3 minutes and then the pressure checked. A bit of a different test, not measuring time but pressure at the end of 3 minutes.

      @@TasmanianOffroadAdventures Ahh! That's the bit I missed. Fair test. Thanks.

    I don't know why more compressors don't have automatic shut off.
