Good video fella. I would like to see the Kings Thumper max tested against the ARB one. I got one 6 months ago, was using it almost daily on a leaking tyre for a couple months. On a couple of weekends on the circlework pad it would pump up 20 or so car tyres from flat after we levered them onto the skid rims, the last time I used it I pumped up 6 truck tyres on the hay carting trailer on farm from between 5 to 10 psi up to 50 without giving it a break, the only thing was the alligator clamps on the battery terminals got fing hot! Probably not the compressors fault though. Would love to see current draw and air flow compared to the ARB higher quality unit. For about $120 bucks I was super impressed with it, but last week it got flogged out the back of my ute in Bendigo so I'll have to get another one to see how durable they are.
Yeah the thumpers are a good thing for the price. I ran one for years. This video wasn’t really about comparing the ARB to the king compressor. I was more using the ARB one as a base line for an average time to blow up a tyre that’s all. I’ve only got the single motor compressor so the thumper would smash it for sure. The twin motor ARB would stand more of a chance but way over priced for what it is. Only reason I have the ARB one is because I was givin it for free back in my racing days from a sponsor. I was mainly trying to highlight that this new little compressor isn’t fit for what they advertise it for that’s all. I run some king stuff on my car and think it’s great value for money. To be perfectly honest with you I was quite surprised that it lasted as long as it did. For a slow leak to get home with a standard car it’s not that bad actually.
My parents bought me a Repco version of that little compressor. It is great for small leaks in a tyre if you have one, but I agree they are no good for doing a flat to inflated tyre.

Not a fair review, a little unit like this would be handy in a pinch for a normal tyre. Light, super portable, battery operated and may get you out of a bad situation. The time it takes wouldnt matter if it gets you going. Whether its a Kings or similar brand it certainly did its job and got that tyre up. That thing would better than nothing at all. Using a Hard wired ARB compressor for $400 is not something everyone needs, plus there are better and cheaper alternatives out there as well. You came across as a bit of an ARB fanboy. I have a mounted compressor in my vehicle, and I was still impressed that thing didnt cut out until battery died.
Thanks for putting in the effort to do a review Steve. However I was not overly impressed how you decided to compare this to an ARB compressor and gave the vibe that Kings gear is all rubbish. It’s hardly fair comparing a handheld compressor to the ARB compressor. The description on their website only says car tyres (does not specifically list that it’s for pumping up big 4wd tyres) and it also lists a lot of other things that is really what this is designed for, bikes, balls, mattresses etc. How about doing a review/comparison of the King’s Thumper (which is only $25 more than the one you reviewed, your money would have been better spent there) or even the Thumper Max? I would say you might be surprised and might even find the Thumper Max pumping up quicker than your ARB. I won’t vouch for the longevity of the Kings stuff, but they do cost a lot less on the other hand. This just seemed like a cheap shot at bagging out King’s gear to me 🤷♂️
Hey. Sorry I didn’t mean for it to sound like a king bashing thing. I run some king gear in my 200 and think it’s great value for money. I did pick on the tyre inflation part of the advertising and highlighted its short coming. I’m fairly sure I did mention in the video that it would be perfectly suitable for basketballs and bike tyres but most definitely not got tyres.
Ok thanks for clarifying! It was just bothering me as that’s the way the video came across to me. Then reading the comments and a lot of people start bashing the King’s gear so that doesn’t help make it feel like it was a fair review.
hand held was 37min but you did that without the recommended 15min on 15min off so if you took one 15min in youre up to 52min and 15 @ 30min again if you dont know it will hit 40psi 7min later, thats 1hr 7min 😳😳
Look, it is a compressor, it does blow stuff up. BUT, would you use it on a 4wd tyre? No. I have been seeing a bunch of these compressors advertised for $200-300 on late night infomercials. (Shift worker life) Now if your blowing up some soccer balls, an air mattress etc, it is perfect for that, and would even work on your small daily driven hatchback (you know the one that doesn't chew fuel and can park in places our 4wds cant) if you needed to throw some air in a tyre. Leave it inside the spare and its out of the way. But as a 4x4 compressor, NO.
Exactly and I even say in the video it’s good for balls and bikes. But it’s sold from a 4wd store as a 4wd compressor which I think is a little misleading so I just wanted to test it out for myself. That’s all the video is about.
But that’s where you are wrong and it’s actually your video that is misleading (although if anyone doesn’t realise what these are really meant for then they are pretty dumb). There is no where on their website page for this compressor that says it’s to be used as a 4wd compressor. It even says in their videos that it can be used for pumping up partially deflated tires. Just because it’s sold by 4wd Supacentre doesn’t instantly mean it’s for pumping up 4wd tyres. 4wdrivers also can go camping pumping up mattresses etc.
It's a car tyre compressor! For the 4WD on 33"+ tires? No! For your Modeo/Commodore etc family car, yes! It's meant for, oh my car tyre looks low, top up in the drive way, not off roading!
Except it’s advertised as a car compressor. 🤷🏿♂️. It’s stupid. I just wanted to test it to see if it could or not because I had the same thought as you.
@Steve I’ve probably got a bit carried away and made quite a few comments on this video now. I’m really just trying to give you some constructive criticism on this video that’s all. At this point in time it appears at least 10% of the thumbs up/down viewers haven’t liked it. My main issue is that I believe a review should be reasonably thorough and unbiased as possible. Hope you can take this feedback in thought for future review videos!
That’s alright. I expect a bit of backlash every now and then with topics like this. It can divide ppl as everyone has different opinions and expectations. I don’t take offense to ppls different views and I’d hope they do me the same favor. I definitely don’t set out to offend anyone, it just happens sometimes when you put your views into a public forum. I’m sure we will agree and disagree on things in the future too but as long as we keep it civil I’m all good with ppl having an opinion on my stuff. Thanks for the comments. It means you actually care and watch which is what I care about. 😏😆
Thanks. This is a new mic, that was the problem. I had it placed in the wrong spot. All a learning curve. My audio is normally pretty damn good. Thanks for watching
I wasn’t trying to nit pick about the advertising. All I was trying to do was show the good and bad points of a product. I use the ARB compressor as a base line to compare to, not a direct comparison. Hopefully that makes sense and you can see what I was trying to do. It has its good points and bad.
lol Steve, but you pretty much focused on one use of the compressor for the whole review and then told everyone not to waste their money on it. I agree it is obviously not good for pumping up larger tyres like you are showing, but your video is far from a proper review if you focus on one thing and then mention for a few seconds that it might be good for this or that and not even attempting to demonstrate the potential good points. It really seems like you just wanted to make a video for all the Kings haters to drum up some views, sorry..
B ok for around the house but let's face it Kings product's r cheap a generally crap. M8's Kings big daddy swag is very ordinary compared to my better brand swag.
Not what it’s advertised for. That’s what my point is. I agree it would be great for bike tyres. But they say it can do 4wd tyres. That’s all I was trying to show
You’d be surprised how many ppl have msg me saying thanks. I was about to buy one for my 4b. I won’t now Because it looks crap. Just trying to give an honest view of a product for ppl

Hahahaha! I hope they don’t market this as a tyre inflator
That’s my problem with it. They do.
It’s definitely more of a bike tyre inflation thing
Great for the pushy or motor cycle. But seriously, 500 bucks for a half decent 4x4 compressor ?!
Most ARB ones are around the $500-$800 mark.
The king’s thumper compressors is pretty good for the price.
That music, lasted 2min.
That’s a shame because it changes at about 2:30. 🤷🏿♂️
Hey Steve try taking the weight off the tyre and pump it up for a little compressor it is trying to lift a lot of weight...
I was just trying to use it in the same way it would be used real world style. Not many ppl jack a car up to pump a tyre up.
hand held was 37min but you did that without the recommended 15min on 15min off so if you took one 15min in youre up to 52min and 15 @ 30min again if you dont know it will hit 40psi 7min later, thats 1hr 7min 😳😳
😂. I didn’t even wanna go down that path.
@@Australian4x4Adventures dont blame ya, i woulda thrown it half way down the street after the first 15 🤣🤣
Look, it is a compressor, it does blow stuff up. BUT, would you use it on a 4wd tyre? No. I have been seeing a bunch of these compressors advertised for $200-300 on late night infomercials. (Shift worker life)
Now if your blowing up some soccer balls, an air mattress etc, it is perfect for that, and would even work on your small daily driven hatchback (you know the one that doesn't chew fuel and can park in places our 4wds cant) if you needed to throw some air in a tyre.
Try it without that extra hose, screw it straight to the tire. Your trying to push a small amount of air through a extra few meters of hose.
The extra hose makes no difference.
I’ve done it with and without. Same result.
Meant for bike tyres and stuff
It's a car tyre compressor! For the 4WD on 33"+ tires? No! For your Modeo/Commodore etc family car, yes! It's meant for, oh my car tyre looks low, top up in the drive way, not off roading!
perfect for that
I agree I have one similar superb for topping up pressures.
Good for kids toys and balls
Exactly my thoughts.
44psi? That's way too much with those heavier tires
No it’s not. But thanks for the input.
@@Australian4x4Adventures neee less for stiffer heavier tires, they are made for full size rigs.
Hahahahaha that’s gamin
anything that small is going to be useless for inflating a 4wd tyre........push bike tyre no worries.....
😏😆
It would be quicker to do it with a bicycle pump
Gave up due to the music
Fair enough.
Still trying to get that music level right.
Have you checked out my other stuff?
If u Jack the car off the ground it inflatea the tyre quicker
Like you vids but you audio is s... sell the kings and buy a good mic
Thanks.
This is a new mic, that was the problem. I had it placed in the wrong spot. All a learning curve. My audio is normally pretty damn good.
Thanks for watching
Buy a bicycle floor pump its cheaper, faster and reliable....
It would be for sure. 😂
It might be good for motorbikes.🙄
Yeah absolutely. Smaller stuff it would be pretty handy.
Australian 4x4 Adventures I was joking, 😁I would rather a bike pump.👍
music too loud. couldn't hear a word you were saying.
Even for kings that is a absolute piss take. No way that should be sold as anything more than a basketball pump.
Exactly my thoughts.
If it was advertised properly then it would be a different review.
It’s advertised for car tyres, not big 4wd tyres, seeing how you want to nit pick at their description..
Don't run it though a 4 foot long hose
Just running them both the same. If I didn’t I would of had someone having a go at me for not doing it. I can’t win sometimes 😂
Kings crap. you get what you pay for ...
Mate..what’s with the putrid background music lol
Hahaha. I liked it. Something different 🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️. Gotta mix things up sometimes so you can msg me saying you don’t like it 😂
Fair play 😂
cheap is cheap ......dearer is dearer lolz like compairing toyota with nissan
I think some of the kings gear is great value.
But this one isn’t fit for the purpose that they are advertising it for.
no good for truck type
No thanks
Definitely not a great product
B ok for around the house but let's face it Kings product's r cheap a generally crap. M8's Kings big daddy swag is very ordinary compared to my better brand swag.
It's for bike tyres and shit 🤦♀️
Not what it’s advertised for.
That’s what my point is.
I agree it would be great for bike tyres. But they say it can do 4wd tyres.
That’s all I was trying to show
Fair enough. I've got a milwalkee one and it ain't much better perfect for everything other than 4wd tyres ahha
You’d be surprised how many ppl have msg me saying thanks. I was about to buy one for my 4b. I won’t now Because it looks crap.
Just trying to give an honest view of a product for ppl
Hah yer it's just obvious that little thing wouldn't do shit all
Turn that corny ass music down dude
Will keep it in mind for future stuff. 👍👍
Yup! Absolute horse shit but as the Kings lovers say ....“good for the money”. Lol. Flogs.
😂. So true.
The Thumper and Thumper Max compressors are more so “good for the money”. Got to pick the products and do a fair comparison 🙄
Just described ALL kings gear, cheap and nasty. Buy once cry once, this stuff gives you a false sense of security as you think you are covered when your not. Buyer beware!
That would have to be the worst review you've ever done that hand compressor is not designed to have a couple of metres of pipe add to it where the one in the car is.
Ummmmm the pipe doesn’t as pressure. You do realize that right? It may take an extra 10 seconds to fill the pipe but it’s not worst off.
It's all what the pump is designed for go to ARB they'll tell you
I think we will have to agree to disagree on this one.
Maybe I’ll do some testing and get back to you.
May have just given me an idea for a video 😂. Thanks mate.
Huh ?? Hahahahaha
