    Great vid once again. The breaking the bead and rebeading was an unexpected bonus. Thanks. You never fail to deliver.
    FYI from Steve at Toyo Head Office Melbourne and for my axle weights and their Toyo Open Country AT II in a 245/70 R16 the Rear cold recommended highway pressure is 56 PSI and Front cold pressure 50 PSI. These are specific for my axle weights on a heavy legal tourer, MY18 Isuzu Dmax 4x4 spacecab chassis with canopy (Not towing) Pressure was determined by them using the Tyre and Rim Association chart for use I believe. Steve also provided pressures for off road dirt, off road rocky and sand use as well. All were surprisingly high but determined using axle weights and that tyre for me. I went straight to the sand pressures from Steve for off road in Tallarook State Forest last week ie Front 21 PSI and Rear 27 PSI. Those pressures worked well for me on the day being dry. Interesting and higher pressures than "the norm" you always hear.

    • @LockyourHubs4WDing
      @LockyourHubs4WDing 2 года назад +1

      Those pressures do sound high for a passenger car tyre. The purpose of changing pressure with weight at freeway speeds is to evenly heat the full width of the tread and therefore experience even tread wear across the full width.
      You can use a FLIR camera or even an IR thermometer to check if you're running the correct pressure. Drive at freeway speeds for about an hour from cold and check the temps. If the centre of the tread is hotter, the pressure is too high, if the outer of the tread is hotter, you need to bump up the pressures.
      I might do a video on it.

    I'd like to add reliability for consideration. I have a friend who has both a Thumper Max and an ARB single compressor. He is on his 3rd Thumper under warranty (now out of warranty) and it is on it's last legs. It only ever pumps up 4 tires, and he takes good care of it. Keep in mind the cost of reliability, as he has had to drive on low pressure tires on the road when it dies and eventually just bought the ARB and it has lasted over 2 years so far without a hiccup. I'm getting an ARB because of how often we let our tires down and I would rather the reliability than shredded tires. Great video!

    I'd like to see you do these tests with Air on Boards 12v 200PSI compressors. The portable version isn't much more than the Kings crap at $192, there is a vehicle mounted version for $241 or a 9 litre tank mounted version for $324 They claim 100% duty so if what they claim is true, you are getting the ARB performance at a reasonable price.

    I purchased and used a thumper max only 5 times before it shit out and stopped working. I then bought the double ARB and it has been faultless. The ARB gets pretty hot when you fill all four truck tyres plus your camper trailer, but then fill your mates tyres because his cheap Thumper also died. The ARB did the lot. I personally wouldn't trust the Thumper for remote travel. I also have the ARB digital tyre inflator, which cannot seem to create an air tight seal at the valve end. You have to hold it with a fair amount of pressure, which causes cramps in your hands after 12 tyres. The ARB digital inflator isn't worth the money due to that poor design.

      You're preaching to the choir! The owner of the test unit is on his third!
      I used the ARB twin yesterday, still on my first.
      I've also got the ARB digital inflator. Luckily it's got a standard 1/4" NPT/BSP on the end and I changed it out with a screw on fitting from ebay. Actually changed them all my inflators out for the screw on tyre, it was giving me RSI in my fingers!

      Lock your Hubs 4WDing I’d love to grab an ARB unit, but I’ll have to settle for a thumper dual for now, as long as it lasts until I’ve saved for the ARB that’s a win. At the price of the arb tho, I could buy a thumper max for each tyre and have the redundancy when one or two dies 😂. No question the ARB is a much better product. I wish their portable system with reservoir wasn’t near the $1k mark tho.

    I will be supporting the workers in Australia by buying the ARB Twin Portable system. Reliability has to do with ambient temperature while being operated. I am planning on placing the portable box on the RF floorboard and using my Jeep Wranglers A/C to keep the compressors as cool as possible. I have read many tales about people mounting them under the hood and not even getting 1 year of use out from them and then whining about them not being reliable. YEA???!!! With ambient operating temps of 300+ degrees??? ARB says they are 100% duty cycle @ 100PSI, at 70 degrees ambient air temps. NOT 300+. You can't fix STUPID.
