DBS is simply not as deep or dramatic as DBZ ever was. Its mostly fanservice and really basic storytelling that only succeeds off Goku and Vegeta's popularity. Some DBS fans just won't admit it though.
Trunks(Monologue): Spending an entire year inside of the Hyperbolic Time Chamber was the most difficult task I've ever had to face. The gravity was so intense that I could barely walk, The air was so thick that I could hardly breath, and the temperature fluctuated wildly. Sometimes freezing cold and others raging hot. Every day presented it's own hardships. A new obstacle to be met and overcome. Of course, some days were harder than others... And just when I had given up all hope, and I was sure that I wouldn't last another moment inside that awful place I saw him.... He stood at the heart of that raging inferno enshrouded by the flames. Thousands of fiery tongues licking at his body threatening to swallow him into the furious blaze completely! Trunks towards Vegeta: No... NOOOO! In that instant all of my fears and all of my pain had dropped away. I knew only that I had to be strong. I knew that I had to step through that wall of flame. I had to do it for him! Trunks to Vegeta: FATHER!!! Vegeta Punches Trunks: Get Back! I don't need your help. I train alone. Stay away. Trunks(Monologue): Suddenly everything became clear. Those raging flames weren't a product of the time chamber at all, but they had come from him. Their intensity fueled by the one burning desire that consumed him. The Desire to be the best! I knew then that my father would reach his goal. He would achieve an unprecedented new power level. he would surpass a Super Saiyan! And realizing this I was left to face the trials of the void alone... Trunks Yelling to Vegeta: FAAATTTHHHHERRR! Trunks(Monologue): The weeks and months that followed exist in my memory mostly as a blur. A seemingly endless succession of grueling days and sleepless nights. Never had I known such effort and never had both my mind and my body been closer to the breaking point, but through it all I persisted. The enormous shadow that loomed over me a constant reminder of my goal. The blood that flows through my fathers veins flows through mine as well!! Vegeta powers up and yells Trunks(Monologue): I was determined to prove this fact at all cost. My every thought, my every action all directed towards this singular purpose. I honored My father's wishes to be left alone, but I watched him from afar when I could and I learned. I knew that my father would achieve the greatness that he desired. He would climb any mountain that stood in his path, and I vowed that I would follow in his footsteps. I would make my own ascension so that one day I might face my father as his equal, and He will know that I am his Son... Vegeta Screams into the air more
I remember watching this when i was just a kid! Dragonball Z actually had a massive impact in my life the way the fighters devote themselves to training, and are always looking for the next challenge! Best show ever!
I believe scenes like this can leave a large impression on young children, even if they don't think it subconsciously they get an idea of what it takes to be great at something.

Vegita would have learned some new moves too, but he didnt because he didnt accept help from anybody. you heard him in the video "I dont need your help. I train alone". DBZ vegita would never ask for a mentor. That was vegita's biggest problem.
Its a shame not many people understand what you said on their own. Goku and Gohan achieved so much in so short a time because they used each other and grew stronger together, constantly pushing their own limits to surpass each other Not even taking a year and constantly resting. Meanwhile Vegetas nonstop training resulted in diminished returns as he grew accustomed to his environment, the same way people who go to the gym daily doing the same routine and never getting any stronger or looking any different despite being fit and pushing themselves. Thats why its a hard pill for Vegeta to swallow. despite his immense struggle, others achieve it without the same effort. He trains harder, not smarter.

At this point, no. During this time papa Veggie was begining to have feelings towards Trunks, but he just didn't want to express them. That wouldn't be until Cell kill F Trunks and he finally showed them. He did however show express himself to Kid Trunks, as it's shown they have a father-son relationship. Basicly what I'm trying to say is that Veggie did show Present Trunks tough love training, with F. Trunks he showed him the "Fuck off and leave me alone" training.
This is probably one of a handful of scenes that really gets to me in anime. Trunks and Vegeta in this scene is basically the mirror image of me and my dead father. Right down to the last word. This was pretty much my childhood.
"So that one day i might face my father as his equal, and he will know that i am his son". Maybe thats why they were smiling in super when future trunks was leaving and vegeta threw a punch at him which future trunks blocked pretty easily.
Trunks during the Cell Saga was basically the main character Vegeta was like an Antihero And Goku is so unphased by danger that it makes him dumb Piccolo really never is as strong as he needs to be for the big fight And Gohan is like the secret weapon

Not for nothing but I hardly see my dad nowadays because he lives too far away, even till this day I following his footsteps. He worked at a seafood business and manage take care of his family just fine. I am doing the same thing while he enjoys his retirement all because he is a great dad and I will always honor him. No wonder why trunks always been my favorite character in dbz as a kid 😌
crazy how super is supposed to compare to this, i’m not gatekeeping but this is so deep and poetic. also is it me or the characters were so much cooler, purple haired trunks was a chad, they did him wrong in super bro its sad.
He's not an emo! I bet most teenagers are too lazy to react to this situation and would just go, "................................" At least he is being normal after 17 years living without a father, don'tcha think?
Okay call me a nerd or whatever you want, but I’m not scared to admit that Dbz and it’s clips motivate me. Im a highschool wrestler and it helps me with my training. Obviously wrestling videos too but I grew up watching Dbz.
this monologue is something I know a lot of people can relate to. There are people out there that have that one family member that they love and want to be like so much but that other family member pays no attention to them. They see what their loved one goes through and their love and respect get stronger and soon that person becomes inspired to become just like them in whatever it is they do just so they can get them to give them their attention.
Vegeta and Future Trunks---easily most the complex characters. Vegeta is a fascinating character study--and while he can be an ass--his determination makes him incredibly impressive. He's so driven and motivated. I wish I had a quarter of his drive. Trunks is the by-product of a destroyed world--becoming obsessed with emulating the one man who is a shadow, an unattainable God to him. Through his horrors in his time--he still sees the good in Vegeta--like Bulma did--even though no one else does.
If these two knuckleheads had spent a year sparring each other instead of their loner secretive training, they wouldn't have been left behind by Goku and Gohan 🤷♂️
Well Vegeta you wanna train alone, look where that got you getting your ass whipped by Cell, while Goku trained with his son and became even stronger than you

"So that one day i might face my father as his equal, and he will know that i am his son". Maybe thats why they were smiling in super when future trunks was leaving and vegeta threw a punch at him which future trunks blocked pretty easily.
Trunks during the Cell Saga was basically the main character
Vegeta was like an Antihero
And Goku is so unphased by danger that it makes him dumb
Piccolo really never is as strong as he needs to be for the big fight
And Gohan is like the secret weapon
"I had to DO IT FOR HIM!" I guess this is the best quote.
when you are at the beach jacked and shredded as fuark.
Thinking back to all the grueling workouts you went trough with your gym partner.
All those single and gruel workouts for the singular purpose of being shredded and jacked as fuk during the summer
I work out alone. Like Vegeta.
This is such a marvelous writing ! Listening to those words enough makes me imagine how stressful the training was .
After they left the time chamber.
Vegeta became an Invincible warrior.
Meanwhile Trunks became a Great poet and took krillin's place as a narrator.
I’m pretty sure it was Gohan(adult) VA doing narration for Z
Not for nothing but I hardly see my dad nowadays because he lives too far away, even till this day I following his footsteps. He worked at a seafood business and manage take care of his family just fine. I am doing the same thing while he enjoys his retirement all because he is a great dad and I will always honor him. No wonder why trunks always been my favorite character in dbz as a kid 😌
Dam
I don’t even remember this , but the story telling was Spectacular
This video gave me the inspiration to push myself in my graphic design career and achieve my goals.
Vegeta, he is the legend. Best character of all time
Vegeta is his own therapist. He gets angry, asses, resolves then prescribes. Then happy again....until Goku powers up.
crazy how super is supposed to compare to this, i’m not gatekeeping but this is so deep and poetic.
also is it me or the characters were so much cooler, purple haired trunks was a chad, they did him wrong in super bro its sad.
All you people talk about is Super under these clips. It’s not a competition dude.
@@dizzyb2309 i know man but it’s the sequel to dragon ball z and it’s cannon so how can something go from this to that and you want it to go unnoticed
Falconer music makes this scene so epic
Father and son moments were always the best in DBZ
I want a son as motivated and determined to prove himself just like Trunks
This writing is amazing.
I can only hope my future child will talk about me like that
“I vowed that I will follow in his footsteps, and that one day he will know that I am his son.” And in that episode trunks got what he wanted…
My mental state during the corona quarantine
Saiyans, abusing the zenkai boost since the saiyan saga :D
He's not an emo! I bet most teenagers are too lazy to react to this situation and would just go, "................................"
At least he is being normal after 17 years living without a father, don'tcha think?
Vegeta powered up screaming and Trunks powered up writing poetry
1:22 Trunks - father!!!
Runs towards him.
Gets smacked by Vegeta.
Vegeta - get back. I don't need your help.I train alone. Stay away.
0:00 - 0:15 POV: After years of you leveling up, it's your wedding day and you're up on the stage and you see your fiancée walking down the aisle
poetry to my ears
From this scene it looks like all Vegeta really did was scream standing in one place. If that was his training it’s no wonder how Cell kicked his ass.
Monologues like this were always done much better in the Funimation dub
3:16 imagine you're in the gym and you see a dude just standing in the middle of the room doing nothing but screaming at the ceiling like that
I don't mind Dragon Ball Super, but old Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z just hits different
Facts couldn’t have said it any better
I watch this several times a day so I'll never forget my purpose.
Super just can't compare
As King Kai said:"If you wanna be the strongest in the world then you have to train not just your body, but also your spirit."
I play this video before I go to the gym on leg day.
Are you super buffed?
They would probably be even stronger that them...
yaa... well no... they are only as strong as the writers allow them to be lol
Wow, looking at this again while Older, I didn’t realize how much of an impact vegeta had on Trunks
Bro spent a good month in there just cooking up this fire dialogue 😭😭😭
1:05 this is the most part that made me laugh. Lmao 🤣🤣😂😂
💯💯💯💯💯 never had I ever known such effort and never had both my mind and body been to the breaking point.
I fucking love vegeta if I was in there I defiantly would have not pussied out when the flames took me I would have embraced them like him
For anyone looking for the episode, it's episode 156 overall from DBZ
Dragon Ball super is...okay but it did no justice to the original. They should’ve just left it alone.
The animation in this part is crazy
Well Vegeta you wanna train alone, look where that got you getting your ass whipped by Cell, while Goku trained with his son and became even stronger than you
Jose Gonzalez Thank you!!! Vegeta only cares about himself.
2:43 this part goes way too hard, so raw and epic
0:42 Welcome to Hell
Popo does own the time chamber after all
That shit funny Af 😂😂😂😂
Honestly the Time Chamber sounds just like hell. Especially if you get lost
vegeta had demons
Trunks had such a brutal time compared to Gohan because he pretty much did go in alone. Vegeta had abandoned and ignored him the whole time.
Vegeta made that boy able to blow his androids up in one shot
Dragonball z is soooo much more intense than super. It's so much better!
..as a son whom have lived the trial of the void. I can understand that feeling. I love my father. I just wish I can make him proud.
