God, I wish I could've watched this when it first came out without any knowledge from anyone. Like, I can't even imagine what it must've felt like to watch that first episode of DBZ after the filler arc. Freeza is back and he brought his, presumably significantly stronger father to Earth to seek revenge, and the only person powerful enough to beat him is off planet. Then all of sudden, purple stranger appears, takes out Freeza's whole army with just a sword, then turns fucking Super Saiyan, a feat only accomplished by Goku and it took fucking everything for even him to do that. Then kills frieza without little to no effort, something Goku, as a Super Saiyan, cold barely do. And then he dispatches King Cold with even less effort. Shit must've been a fucking brain melter back then.
Born in '95 here. Mom allowed me to skip kindergarder to watch this episode, 8 am. The picture of watching Trunks slicing Freezer in half for the first time is something I still remember. Priceless.

OMG i am just getting flashbacks to when i first saw Trunks's Debut. When i was 11 years old and actively watching Dragon Ball Z, I watched it religiously on Toonami every day i got home from school. I already seen the Saiyan and Frieza Saga and i was on the edge of my seat when it seems Freiza was back and still as strong as when he fought on Namek, knowing Goku was alive but MIA. Then i see this nameless purple hair dude step up to challenge Frieza. At first I seemed worried when he first appeared but then easily wiping out Frieza's men with ease I was like "Okay maybe he can take on frieza!" Then he mentions He's a saiyan my jaw dropped as I distinctly recall the saiyans were extinct apart from Goku, Vegeta and Gohan then this music plays when he shows he's a Super Saiyan I was in awe! Even seeing Frieza show a small hint of fear recognizing the Yellow hair and Blue eyes. It just kept getting better and when Trunks literally cut him in half then take out King Cold shortly after He immediately became my second favorite character!

The world is now an even worse state than it was when the androids were terrorising it, and now all the work gone into restoring it has been reduced to nothing. To add salt to the wound, Goku Black kills the only family he has left right in front of him. I'd say that's a good enough reason to turn into a bit of an emotional wreck. The fact he hadn't given up though and still would fight to the bitter end is saying something though. I do agree that the scrawny noodle arms in Super that they gave everyone was a downgrade though. I miss when they were ripped as fuck.

OMG i am just getting flashbacks to when i first saw Trunks's Debut.
When i was 11 years old and actively watching Dragon Ball Z, I watched it religiously on Toonami every day i got home from school. I already seen the Saiyan and Frieza Saga and i was on the edge of my seat when it seems Freiza was back and still as strong as when he fought on Namek, knowing Goku was alive but MIA.
Then i see this nameless purple hair dude step up to challenge Frieza. At first I seemed worried when he first appeared but then easily wiping out Frieza's men with ease I was like "Okay maybe he can take on frieza!" Then he mentions He's a saiyan my jaw dropped as I distinctly recall the saiyans were extinct apart from Goku, Vegeta and Gohan then this music plays when he shows he's a Super Saiyan I was in awe! Even seeing Frieza show a small hint of fear recognizing the Yellow hair and Blue eyes.
It just kept getting better and when Trunks literally cut him in half then take out King Cold shortly after He immediately became my second favorite character!

People need to show this man more respect nowadays, back in the day when he first appeared he was as badass as you could've gotten, he appears out of thin air, has one of the best entrances to date, and toyed with a stronger frieza then namek goku fought, then killed him in basically one attack, then smartly killed his father before he could transform beyond his 2nd form.

It’s so dumb, he was really powerful at the end of the cell saga & according to super he was training the whole 7 years when he got back which is why he could beat babidi and datura so easily. Then he comes back and he’s somehow scrawnier and more weak willed than he was before
@@zzzzzzzz1932 Well he did just defeat the androids that wrecked havoc on his world for there to be an even more powerful threat who looks like Goku that he can't stop. The world is now an even worse state than it was when the androids were terrorising it, and now all the work gone into restoring it has been reduced to nothing.
To add salt to the wound, Goku Black kills the only family he has left right in front of him. I'd say that's a good enough reason to turn into a bit of an emotional wreck. The fact he hadn't given up though and still would fight to the bitter end is saying something though.
I do agree that the scrawny noodle arms in Super that they gave everyone was a downgrade though. I miss when they were ripped as fuck.
