That is called... great acting. And thought given by the director. He should be confident. FLAG designed the car - he knows what it can do. Very confident. In contrast, they have the woman be a little more squeamish about the bullets. Still knowing they will bounce off, but not as sure. It is really good acting and thought in directing.
Devon was in charge of building KITT. Wilton Knight in the pilot episode was asking Devon on the progress of KITT's construction. Appears Devon was the project lead.
I like the mirro effect on the bridge to hide the ramp. And the cop car landing on the lower car. No cgi just real stunt driving. I like and appreciate that.
What's not to love about this?! Knight Rider at it's best! "Felicitous, you mean you're glad to see me??!" Devon with his polished vocabulary and Michael only understanding straight up talk :-D

Agreed.Jack Gill and his team were the stuntmen on Knight Rider.Jack did most of the scenescwere KITT would drive by hi.self as well as the turbo boost scenes. Sometimes, his brother Andy Gill did the stunts on KR as well.
@Super Syed Yeah Kitt says that a few times in the series. It was cool how they used the turbo boost though to get out of the pincer movements like that. Goes t oshow how well done the show was at it's time.

@@cassandraespinosa2223 We only had 7 over the air channels. I think there was a motorcycle themed show also. It was a black motorcycle with some type of turbo boost button, I wish I could remember the name.
"Now that's Incredible!" ... Really? Rosco, Enos and Cletus do this everyday and are 1000 time more professional at crashing their squad car than these posers.
I guess that T/A wasn't reinforced properly by the stuntcrew. It happened on rally cars in Europe that windhields would fall off on gravel because of forces working on the bodyshell, so they would then attack metal plates to the A pillars to keep the windshields in place.
@@mattcox3373 the CHP almost exclusively used Mopars back then which is why so many shows got Monacos and furys and later the Dodge St. Regis, Chrysler newport and Plymouth Volare. I believe the Los Angeles county sheriff's department used novas and later malibus as you saw a lot of those as bad guy cars. I think the sheriff's department also got a bunch of 1978 Pontiac Catalinas as well as those appeared as bad guy cars in quite a few shows as well as coroner wagons on a few as well like Hardcastle and McCormick
5:46 looks like painted sheets of plywood to hide the ramp, except they didn't get to paint the first section. Clearly see the tan color behind the railing.
May have been the fliver car. For the curious, knight rider historians covered the entire series, but, a rubber shell mold was made of the car(s) and would often plop it on a modified dune buggy from a vw bug and would often use that for jumps and would often use acrylic for the windows. They would also use the rubber shell for several stunts such as when other vehicles would often ram into the side of kitt to mask the damage of the stunts.
I loved how calm Devon looked while the bullets were bouncing off KITT.
Well you have to remember he design kit
Michael too.
The girl not so much.
That was fairly good.

1:47 YEAHHH !!
The stunt driving in this show is really very good. That jump on the bridge looks quite dangerous.
The stunts in this first season were excellent. Through a truck, through an alley way over Main St, through a van etc. Not a cheap model in sight.

Great memories! Thanks for bringing K.I.T.T. back to me!!🩷
Kitt had "Ejecto seat cuz" way before Tyrese and 2 Fast 2 Furious 😂
Hard to believe the actress is this episode was in consideration for the role of Bonnie Barstow. Thank you Knight Rider Historians.
She looked better
Mary Margaret humes is or was a beauty 40 years ago!
Incredible work!!!

Damn, almost like he was being chased by Hazzard County sheriff's department. Only thing missing is the General Lee.
I had that vibe also. The dirt road looked like Hazard also.

you can clearly see reinforcement frame inside car.
those AMC'a were TOUGH!....ha,ha!
Yeah, I was thinking there was a roll cage in there.

KITT: Michael, the brake!

Rosco P Coltrane you go after that Knight Rider
Pretty sure they got that Plymouth from the dukes of hazzard backlot minus the hazzard county decals
Knight Rider the best
3:47 Stock Pontiac Dashboard

The mirror reflecting sky to hide the ramp is clever.

kitts doors can open automatically so why did michael have to lean over to open the door at 1:57
KITT was lazy probably
1:58 you can see Hasselhoff reach over and open the door. So much for KITT's "auto door R" lol
I believe they were using the Hero Car.
Hero Car is KITT car that actually looks good on screen shots.

That’s climate change. The plants grow super quickly!!!
And can clearly see the passenger cage built into the car it crashed on top of.
Those where 80s bushes they grow faster because today bushes play to much with their phones and are not all that productive

*cops shooting kit* Kit:Micheal it tickles Micheal:I know
Both the dukes of Hazzard and knight Rider where filmed in the same location and often used left over Monaco's and chargers from the dukes

That was the close-up car for the hood shots to reduce glare off the windshield,.......which this car obviously does not have.

Michael had to open the kitt door by himself for devon
Yeah, I don't get that either.

2:46 KITT looks like he's missing a windshield.
Correct, there is no windshield on K.I.T.T./the stunt car.

There should’ve been a cross over episode.
Love the score at 1:38

1:17 Only two pursuers? What happened to the third?
Old American police cruisers were literally go anywhere cars
Is kitt missing windscreen at 2:50??
I was really hoping that they would freezeframe as Kitt jumped that truck. Then Waylon narrates a quaint country ad lib and cut to commercial.
It's like someone crossed a script of dukes of hazzard
KITT uses the metric system ... 😁
This just on yesterday on DirecTV 541 channel
The very best scene happens at exactly 3:24 when one vehicle hits another one.
That is what I consider to be 2 points for KITT and zero points for the police cars.
