The ultimate rock star. Played protest music once decade and rock out later. This song is my favorite rock song of of all time. Hundreds of better guitarists, singers, a couple better songwriters. Young is the best combination of them all imo.
My dad and I went to two Neil Young gigs in 2013 and 2014 and the man (and crazy horse) were just incredible. There are very few artists who put their heart and soul into every note they play and feel it and you can see him feel it - note - by note - the authenticity and rawness and pure magic is indescribable. There are very few people on this planet that I can put into the league of Neil Young.
My God. EPIC SONG. Thank God for Neil Young and all he's given to us all his life. I well up in tears when I watch these live performances of this song. This song should be on everybody's lips in 2022. Autocracy just around the corner ? Truth and Democracy on the ropes ! Rights being taken away. So many kids being shot by GUNS. At about 9 minutes in you'll see incredible showmanship - Young leading the arm waving while he and the band create an amazing sonic soundscape - that's a moment of pure theatre - complete unity between band and audience.
