- The white truffle growing in the woods of Alba, Piedmont, Italy, is the rarest and most expensive truffle in the world. This truffle is bigger and more fragrant and flavorful than other types, with a hint of nuts and sweet garlic. To grow, it needs compact, marly soil and trees like chestnut, oak, poplar, and linden. Join us as we follow a truffle hunter for a day and learn the best way to store truffles and which foods they pair best with.

Why Italian White Truffles Are The World's Most Expensive Truffles | Regional Eats
without a doubt, claudia is one of the best hosts on youtube.
You sure about that ?
Best on Insider
I agreed
Agreed
indeed. i love her
I highly recommend watching The Truffle Hunters. Very charming documentary.
Ciao Claudia! I'd love to see some of these Italian regional eats focussing on Sicilian food - Arancini and Cannoli in particular!
Sicily isn’t italian
@@drewp.weiner2473Having been to Sicily multiple times and working with four Italian translators that are all Sicilian, I think you'll find that nowadays Sicilians are pretty darn Italian. With additional cultural issues and language/dialect, sure, but with a clear secondary Italian identity.
Claudia and Italia, a winning duo!
Thank you for the informational, delightful video!
I’ve never had truffles but I want to eat it before I leave earth 😁❤️
Apparently they don’t even taste good. People just eat them as a display of wealth.
They taste great on french fries sprinkled with parmesan
@@defiantgoon4061 definitely a good place to start with them
@@maenad1231 they need to be prepared well and actually be truffle. There is a ton of fakery going on. You'll have products with just aroma or truffle oil instead of the real deal
Leave the earth? Where are you going? can I come?
Fascinating
I wana see Claudia do the North American vids (moreso than the ones that currently do them). She seems to have such a zest for life, and comes across as authentic in her vids. Anddd shes a cutie
The pasta guy is right ! Truffle oil is the most overrated thing 😂 So many restaurants/food companies have tried to fool people with it 😭
Agree - add some truffle oil and charge $20 extra for “truffle”
So true. I mean... It helped me whenever I crave truffle in the middle of night but it's nothing like genuine good quality truffle.
Very good documentary
Mmmmmm...I love truffles, the chocolate ones too.
For all the people watching and thinking like they want some truffle. A very approachble and savory meal:
An easy recipe: (not healthy but delicious)
You'll need:
Salsa tartufa (is often mixed with mushroom)
Butter
Cooking cream
Grated Pecorino cheese
Pepper (as in salt and pepper, the spice not the vegetable)
Pasta of choice, Fuži if you can find it
Melt some butter (don't let it cook so no bubbling) and add the truffle salsa. Go easy on the butter
Once temperature is good add some pepper and add the cooking cream. Slowly add the finely grated Pecorino to taste and untill the sauce gets a nice structure.
That's it!
Add it to the pasta and enjoy! Make sure the sauce doesn't bubble and that there isn't too much butter and cream added, but also not to little
If you have fresh truffles, you can store them with your butter, eggs, cream and/or oil to get the scent into the fat for truffled cream, eggs, butter and/or oil. If you do not want your milk, cream, eggs, butter, cheese, yogurt, ice cream and hummus to smell like truffles, store your truffles in a cold place away from your main refrigerator/freezer.
Chef Mirko’s voice✨❤️😅🤤🤭✌🏾
I’d be curious to know how much that little plate of pasta with those shavings of truffle would cost.
I remember that one show where this lady treasures truffles so much, she dons a large sable fur coat just for the truffle hunting occasion...
Love this
Claudia is perfect 😋
Dank
love her.
I've never had truffles, white or black, either but just like Italy, they are on my top ten list of things I want to see, go to, or eat!
same
Expect a very intense flavour, you can't compare to notthing you already eat, especialy the black one, hope you Will enjoy It!
I had it once the smell is very intense and unique. It smells earthly, nutty and also has a fresh fish aroma on it. Sounds gross, but it surprisingly smells good!
@@leedlbagginshield8492 I'd like to smell them and taste them one day.

I am from Iran, anyone wants cheap fresh truffle mushrooms, I can send them by plane, price
Claudia, the presenter, is Italian
Washing white truffle with a medium bristle toothbrush will be a good idea
First, Spanish. Then French. Now Italian. Gosh, Claudia is a on the road of becoming a polyglot. I would be surprised if she can speak Arabic too.
She is italian
she's Italian so it's her first language then Spanish and French are also Latin languages so it's easier for someone that already speaks a Latin one but yes she speaks well.

White shrooms with perfumed funk.
Forget Italy you need to come to desert countries like Jordan to find lots of white truffle after heavy rain
❤️❤️❤️
Cool
I wanna go truffle hunting. Am I allowed to do that or do I need a license?
You definitely don’t need a license if you don’t get caught👌
No license needed, for personal consumption, but its needed for business.
Read the book "Truffle Hound" by Rowan Jacobson before you go to have an idea of what you are asking to do. Truffle hunters are very protective of their territory and don't take kindly to poachers. Also, you might have to hunt on private land so you'd need the permission of the land owner.
You need a wild pig to hunt those truffles, or a truffle dog
@@robertoalberio622 Domestic pigs are also capable of finding truffles. The problem is that they also try to eat the truffles. Farm wives used to follow the pigs with a bucket of grain. When the pig found a truffle, the farm wife would bang a stick on the bucket to call the pigs and then dig up the truffle while the pig was distracted by the grain.
You should see the Middle East truffle sizes

Truffle oil isn't always artificial, not if you buy good quality ones from local truffle farms.

Ive never smelled or eaten truffles but since they’ve mentioned it as strong smell meaning bad smell together with earthy smell like? Tell me
i mean, i don't think I've ever had a real truffle or tasted a fresh one, but I've smelled truffle products before and tasted truffle flavoured dishes and just let me tell you it's an incredibly fragrant smell, a bit earthy maybe but it goes heavenly with dairy heavy dishes. It's a pleasant aroma, don't worry about it smelling "bad" lol
That’s very intense, especially dark truffles have a strong smell that can be a little disturbing because it’s definitely not a smell you would aspect from something is intended to be eaten. But it’s the same discourse of strong smell cheese: you don’t like it until you eat it! And it’s absolutely different from, for example, broccoli or cauliflower smell: when you taste truffle you taste 1% of what you smelled, and it is also a bit different from what you expected. (My grandparents are from a little village near Alba 😁)
Someone says the smell is a bit garlicky. For someone who has never experienced it, if you're in a restaurant and the table next to you orders a truffle dish you could think: why there's so much garlic in that dish. But it's just an approximation. The smell is far more complex and layered.
Depends on your taste
🙂🙏💜
so so zealous!
I need my white truffle fix asap 😭

Is it free if you find one by yourself in your Garden or backyard?
Free but impossible if you don't live in Italy
@@fulviomiglio4162 kk thank u for that
@@fulviomiglio4162 not impossible because truffles are found allover Pakistan and they are not eve a part of Pakistani diet some people use them for medicinal purposes
ma che porzioni sono?😆😆 quella è la quantità di pasta che uso per vedere se è cotta
Good thing there are less people around.
Ive never had real truffle. Ive had the supposed truffle import sauces. Which can be delicious. Personally. Pecan, mushroom, and whatever else you like. Usually walnuts or chestnuts. Really offers a truffle supplement. The awkward slightly sour bitterness of truffle flavor is strange and intoxicating. . But you can the same essence without real truffles. Enjoying your food. Dont think you need a top tier delicacy.
Goshhh I want to marry Claudia ❤️❤️I love when she presents and her voice
Mniam
Why are white truffles more expensive than black varieties when the black truffles taste better?
Racism
Harder to find, taste different
Can’t cultivate or farm truffles
Psychedelic ones you can.
From what I've read, you can but it's very difficult. You need to find and "prepare" a piece of land in order to have the right chemical features, then plant the same trees you see in this video, let them grow, then "inject" truffle spores near the trees. Then hope trees and spores will bond. It's a process both time-intensive and capital-intensive. You'll need a lot of money and wait up to 10 years for the first truffles to grow.

Claudia looking much prettier day by day ,making me feel Like her Romeo.
the video has been re-uploaded ,looks like insider is cutting corners in content making.SAD
I hope everyone watching this is considering the fact that the "found" truffles aren't found. They are placed for the video production :) First of all: Truffles arent that clean when you dig them out fresh. Second: They are not even digging in this video. It looks like the truffles are just laying on the soil and they just have to pick them up.
Gotta make the content:D
Don't hate the player, hate the game
Btw where I live truffles are often found like this I mean some time you can even see them on the surface
What video did you watch? We literally saw the dogs dig and then the dude dig with his finger. There were no images of truffles 'just laying there.' What are you even on about?

Truffles are ok but far too overpriced. Sea Urchin or Caviar have a lot more flavour for less.
They have completely different tastes, what’s the point in comparing them? Apples and oranges?
Salt cost even less and is tastier
Nothing is better then white truffles
The reason why it's expensive is because of its scarcity. TThe price of a product isn't dictated by taste but availability and supply, prestige too.

The Black Truffle description I can understand. I mean, it's visually obvious.
However, why the hell would a tan colored truffle be described as white?!
