i mean, i don't think I've ever had a real truffle or tasted a fresh one, but I've smelled truffle products before and tasted truffle flavoured dishes and just let me tell you it's an incredibly fragrant smell, a bit earthy maybe but it goes heavenly with dairy heavy dishes. It's a pleasant aroma, don't worry about it smelling "bad" lol
That’s very intense, especially dark truffles have a strong smell that can be a little disturbing because it’s definitely not a smell you would aspect from something is intended to be eaten. But it’s the same discourse of strong smell cheese: you don’t like it until you eat it! And it’s absolutely different from, for example, broccoli or cauliflower smell: when you taste truffle you taste 1% of what you smelled, and it is also a bit different from what you expected. (My grandparents are from a little village near Alba 😁)
Someone says the smell is a bit garlicky. For someone who has never experienced it, if you're in a restaurant and the table next to you orders a truffle dish you could think: why there's so much garlic in that dish. But it's just an approximation. The smell is far more complex and layered.
Ive never had real truffle. Ive had the supposed truffle import sauces. Which can be delicious. Personally. Pecan, mushroom, and whatever else you like. Usually walnuts or chestnuts. Really offers a truffle supplement. The awkward slightly sour bitterness of truffle flavor is strange and intoxicating. . But you can the same essence without real truffles. Enjoying your food. Dont think you need a top tier delicacy.
From what I've read, you can but it's very difficult. You need to find and "prepare" a piece of land in order to have the right chemical features, then plant the same trees you see in this video, let them grow, then "inject" truffle spores near the trees. Then hope trees and spores will bond. It's a process both time-intensive and capital-intensive. You'll need a lot of money and wait up to 10 years for the first truffles to grow.
The Black Truffle description I can understand. I mean, it's visually obvious. However, why the hell would a tan colored truffle be described as white?! I'm even fine with the description being orange or brown. Ain't nothing white about that damn thing.🙄 The culinary world needs a serious reset.
I hope everyone watching this is considering the fact that the "found" truffles aren't found. They are placed for the video production :) First of all: Truffles arent that clean when you dig them out fresh. Second: They are not even digging in this video. It looks like the truffles are just laying on the soil and they just have to pick them up.
What video did you watch? We literally saw the dogs dig and then the dude dig with his finger. There were no images of truffles 'just laying there.' What are you even on about?
