I think this is a Horror Story for Black Mothers specifically. Mr. Crokett represents CPS: Child Protective Services, an institution that was created to save children from their horrible parents, but unfortunately, over time this agency has caused more harm than good. Instead of working with families, they intervene with the intent to remove and displace children. THEN at 18 these children are ousted of the system without any stability, like Anthony. Black Women have always been made to feel that they are bad mothers. Lawd knows society puts so much on them, blames them for circumstances and situations beyond their control, and forces them to handle these independently. Being overwhelmed and without support creates brokenness and descension. I really liked this one!
Wow! I LOVE this take! It is so true and I didn’t even see it that way. I knew for sure that Summer was not a bad mother, so didn’t understand why he came for her. This is a great take away!

@@JerzCe73 I think it’s when Summer told major that she quits being his mother. I know that deep down she didn’t mean to say that. She was just frustrated, and at the same time, Mr. Crocket is extremely triggered by the slightest mistakes that parents make.
I think a good addition to the lore would’ve been the children of genuinely good parents wouldn’t be able to fully stay in the fantasy in Mr. Crocketts dimension so he would have to consume the goodness to keep the dimension functioning properly, or that Mr Crockett had access to adult Anthony’s mind and used him to help find and unalive the bad parents as a proxy, they could’ve even made Anthony’s character a new “Mr. Crockett “reboot” until he found another child to “save” and leave behind in the real world to do his bidding as a new “character” in a show
@@kevcraven7 I can understand why you think she’s not a bad mom. I guess she was so frustrated over her son’s behavior and so devastated by the death of her son’s father that she didn’t think before she spoke.
@@kevcraven7 That shows how Mr. Crocket can be easily triggered by the slightest mistake a good and loving parent makes. It all goes back to his childhood and the fact that his childhood made him unable to think rationally. I think the main theme of this movie is how childhood trauma can heavily affect people as they grow into adulthood. I know there have been plenty of people who were raised in toxic environments, but in spite of their bad childhoods, they grew up to be awesome people. I believe that the main reason behind this is because there were adults, whether it was an uncle, aunt, older cousin, a grandparent, a teacher, or even a friend who was aware of what was happening with these kids and wanted to help them out and become a safe space for them. If Mr. Crocket had someone in his corner who could’ve saved him from the abuse he suffered from his father, he probably wouldn’t be the monster that he is, and we probably wouldn’t have this movie. This is not to excuse the heinous misdeeds of Mr. Crocket.
I mean I think the movie wouldn’t have been that bad if he just stuck with killing abusive parents, but then it’s like “oh I’m killing them over bed time” for me. I did like it though 😂
Elvis Nolasco is so freaking talented. He was so great in this. The new Candy Man. He’s great in everything he does and he made up for every bad actor and poor editing choice which was terrible. I too loved this movie
It was good. A little Goofy, a little weird, and a little scary. I hope they make a part 2 to flush out more about Mr. Crocket and what happens to Major.

I love this idea! You need to be up in the writer’s room! You’d even contribute to a better sequel! 🙌🏾🔥
I think Summer telling Major, “I quit being your mother!” is the cause of Mr. Cricket being summoned.
