- In this video, I taught someone how to fix their backhand in pickleball in just 20 minutes! Going from the one-handed backhand to a 2-handed backhand showed drastic improvement. What is also important is understanding the impact point of the paddle and ball to ensure we know proper shot placement.

Great guidance on footwork! I was just modifying my footwork for my one hander. Love the simplicity of the markers on the ground for teaching it.
Loved the step by step approach here, learned a lot! Plus to see the improvement he made over the course of the video is sick
good step by step. 2 comments: lock / cock the wrist for stability and swing through the ball while i feel their swing path is more from left to right vs through the ball at contact -- finish more in front
Super helpful tips! I have been trying to improve my backhand drives so I’ll def be working on my swing path and shortening my swing when moving. Thanks!! Crew 😻
You're teaching the "close" stance on both the FH and BH. That only works IF you have time, and prepare for the shot. At high level, that will NOT work because the ball comes at you really fast, and you will not have time to step into the ball. If you looks at professional tennis players, they hit both the FH and BH in "open" stance. Just watch Novak Djokovic or Carlos Alcaraz, and you will see how they do it. PB is almost identical to tennis, especially in singles PB.
Great catch. This player is focused on playing doubles pickleball at or below the 4.0 level. So the majority of shots they’re focusing on are return of serve and third shot drive. In which case, they will have ample time to get in position to hit a closed stance or at least semi closed stance FH/BH. Trying to really meet this player where they are are, and develop a repeatable motion they feel confident in.
You do see some players in singles hit and open stance forehand but the majority, when they have time as this player will, are opting for closed stance. Especially on BH side.
I don’t think it’s “fixed” yet
no but everything takes practice, think 20 minutes to understand the motion is still decent for a lot
