Thou was too personal.. So it was cleansed from speech.. In Swedish.. Ni was deemed too hierarchical and was removed from speech.. We are using different pronouns in both language.. Her husband wants to leave but she doesn’t. Kristina is deeply religious (as everyone was) and wouldn’t dare to question Gods purpose with all this hardship. Only when their daughter dies from starvation she agree to emigrate. When they lose another child, the doctor tell them she can never get pregnant again since that could lead to her death (aka no more sexy time). That’s her last straw. And she sings this song, questioning God.
It makes more senses now. No wonder why she could pull it out like that, so she also composed this masterpiece. Even with English subtitle, I believe the original Sweden language conveys the best emotion
