Best way to "invest" in comic books is to buy COMPLETE gold/silver/bronze collections. Keep the major keys and sell the remaining. * upgrade the ones in your personal collection and sell lower grade. (I have about 200k value in comics currently including 3 complete asm runs 1-100, one asm run 1-900, 2 runs of daredevil 1-200, hulk 1, batman #3, 14 copies of FF 48, and the list goes on and on.
I got myself a Batman 423 first print, Neal Adams Superman 233 & 234, Neal Adams Batman 244, Batman 357, Batman 656, Batman 417, Action Comics 595, World’s Finest 180. Some were 25% off and some were 30% off. Crazy deals and I gladly spent a good amount but still got amazing key books for a fraction of what it would have cost me regular price lol
My LCS, To be continued comics (crofton,MD), had an amazing sale. I picked up DD168 9.4 CGC for $200. I also got an uncanny 141 raw that is every bit of 9.6+ for $65. One of the employees at the shop winced when I bought it. He knew it was severely underpriced for condition. I could have dropped a small fortune with the prices. There were so many deals to be had. Great video!
TBC has some great sales! It’s about a 90 minute drive for me so I don’t get to go that often. Was planning on going to the sale last week but I had visitors coming that day. Awesome DD pickup!
It's so funny how the trade dress acts like a bear to honey. All these books appeal to me so much so that I have them all. Minus the reprint. Being born in 1966 and collecting since 79 the Claremont/Byrne X-Men were all the rage at the time. Great selection.
Amazing to see the deals and congratulations. Here in the UK, we had one more LCS announce they're closing down. This leaves only 1 in central London and maybe 2-3 for the remainder. We never see deals like this, so what you have is a uniquely US centric phenomenon.
So great grabs there, especially Ghost Rider and Swamp Thing! You should give a shout out to that comic shop! My LCS didn’t have any cool sales like that!
Fantastic additions to the collection, Swag. I agree with you 100% on wall books. Every shop I go into has insane prices on their wall books and slabs like it's still summer 2021. I'm just not going to pay those prices anymore. And because I don't want to have a collection the equivalent of 20 long boxes - guess what? I'm not buying overpriced back issues. That just leaves what's on my pull list. I can only imagine how hard it is for the brick & mortal LCS to stay in business, but I'm the CEO of my own life and I can't afford those prices. I can find way better deals in facebook sales, and in other private collector groups. It's a topic that has been well covered on this channel and others, but LCS better find some way through these tricky waters or online retailers are going to keep eating their lunch (and breakfast, and dinner).
My normal black Friday honey hole got hit hard this year. They usually don't sell a ton of comics but something changed this year. Only notable book I got was Secret Wars 8
$1 bin digging and big sales are the way to go! I bought many Bronze Age keys this way! For modern keys I wait for the sales and as much as possible avoid paying cover price!
Yeah man... Alpha Flight is in the dollar bin at my LCS. In any case, I certainly didn't have the comics budget that you did. It's either 1 book for $50, or 50 books for $1/each.... And I will almost always pick quantity.
Vendors love their wall books! Sadly, many such books start to noticeably fade as time goes by...thanks to exposure to natural/artificial lighting (at which point they might become 'priced to sell'). I guess one day they will have use 'electronic walls' that can be updated regularly.
I put the whole run of Spectre's Adventure Comics back in the bin when I remember I needed a Xbox 360. Although, i did find a decent Logan's Run #6 first solo Thanos with a Mike Zeck signature for $3 after the discount.
Dang over here in WA only 2 LCS had sales compared to last year which was all 6. Not sure if it means they are struggling or not. Out of the 2 that did do it only one felt like a real sale. The other felt like they jacked up the prices or their back issues to sell them at regular cost
'75% off a book marked up 100% is 25% above above market value' You sure? Book $100. Marked up 100% to $200 Get 75% off = $50 So in effect half price of FMV?
And this is how LCS should do Black Friday sales …. This would make anyone spend money !!!! 75% would make me spend wayyyyy more money than what I would normally want to
Read and/or collect because you love the stories, characters or medium. The idea of “investing” in comics is ridiculous and hilarious. If you’re looking to buy something that’s going to grow in value and provide an ROI, then comics are a terrible choice considering you can safely park your money elsewhere and get a better return
My ex-step bro's uncle gave me that avengers #25 when I was a kid! My bro got a 7 dollar batman, I remember him being pissed lol. I almost got X-Men #2!! He said he would have said something if I got that one lmfao, hater😂
I absolutely NEVER find deals like this or Garage Sale finds etc. Congrats. Great additions to your PC!
Congrats on the great pickups, Mickey! I love how you always tie-in to higher-level discussions
Is X-men 133 the first solo Wolverine story? Where does the Marvel UK Marvel Comic #335 stand then...
Marvel Comic #335 (UK) (1979) is the first. :)

Very jealous of that silver surfer 3!!
some very good scores. I really dig the Green Lantern book.
You got some nice books there Mickey - good for you - thanks for sharing
Wow amazing wall book deal. Would have definitely took advantage of that as well. Most of the shops near me won’t discount wall books.
Hey Swag. Great haul! What was the name of the LCS? I missed that sale! Maybe next year!

11/10 content always my boy. But when's the vid on that PMG in the backround

The Ghost Rider 1 is sweet!

Still looking for that issue. Nice haul , Swag!
Wow, most of those prices, even at the tag price, are pretty great.
Swag, which LCSes do you goto in Bay Area? Heading up there later this month.
I grabbed a bunch of fifty cent books and Todd McFarlane signed copies of Spider Man 1 in regular and black with the web stamp on the back.
$50 on swamp thing 1 is an excellent pick up
Not a fan of LCS's. You can get much better deals online if you are patient. Fantastic buys you bought, all really nice books!
I thought I was going crazy when swag started speaking German
Same thing happened for me. My phone set the audio to German and I didn't have the option for English >
Swag, thanks for sharing!

Did you go to SF Fan Expo?
Re Alpha Flight .. Guardians of the Galaxy you could have said the same ? If someone would make a good movie???
75% off? Where do you find deals like this, especially on keys?
Thanks ia for language spanish... Nice video bro, greetings of perú.
Did your store have any wall books left after the sale? What does a store do if all the wall books are gone?!?
I paid 40 cents for my Cap 241. 😊
I know those labels but I can’t place it…….
The best way to invest in comics is to buy what you like to read😂😂😂
My LCS was 50% everything but new comics.
'75% off a book marked up 100% is 25% above above market value'
You sure?
Book $100. Marked up 100% to $200
Get 75% off = $50

My LCS' prices are pretty consistantly 30% lower than FMV.
Ghost Rider # 1 for a $100, you’re killing me. 😑

Kang will return!
didn’t pickup the spider-man bagman issue , clearly you don’t know ball…….😂
I disagree. 20¢ Marvel and DC are my favorite. TETO!!!
Who ever is buying high doom is crazy jus wait till that movie is done it will drop don’t hype up those doom books waste of money 😂
Long Live Liefeld!!
