Your index reports have a lot of value to us. Even just the way you recapped this Down report adds value. Keep them coming! (And Conan #1 and Iron Fist #14 are always going to hold/grow value. They are not "speculator" books as you mentioned.)
I like your reports as well as the others, especially if facts based, they help. I have a few of the books but I paid little for them. My Conan 1 I picked up for 50 cents. It did come back a CGC 9.6 WP (garage sale, many moons ago) and looks great on the wall. Will we lose on a book or two, of course. Like stocks, you want more winners than losers in a portfolio, except you may not want to trim if you are collecting. Some books are still cool and have great covers. Art looks nice on walls, better if you buy it at the right price.
Some of the down momentum is due to the time of year as well as that there’s little coming out I believe once the new X-Men franchise is launched on the MCU some of these books will go back up and may even catch up to some of the old prices specifically the first kitty pride and that giant size X-Men

This was pretty easy to see even during covid that comic prices would drop haha. Extra money in the pockets = inflated market for comics, less money in pockets = market corrects itself to normal levels, in combination with Disney/Marvel just not releasing as much movies and shows as they were 2 years ago this also decreases spec with not as much material to base that spec off from. Safest comics to invest in right now are silver/early bronze x-men imo since that is what marvel/disney is slowly introducing in combination with prices still dropping.
i'd also venture to say that comics will do the worst out of any sectors in the collection hobby. we are seeing superhero fatigue and burnout in the theaters as comics movies are flopping left and right after two decades of non stop shoving them down our throats.
I wont pretend to understand market activities well enough to claim that features like this will only hurt or slow recovery, but beyond reporting on latest sales data, I don't see how this wouldnt reinforce the notion in buyers' minds that 'the next deal should be lower than the last sale.'
I use myc’s fixed price option. Definitely deals in the weekly auctions. It isn’t surprising that prices continue to come down as speculators continue to liquidate. Pokémon is experiencing a big market boost though.
This report is long overdue, but I think overall shouldn't be a deterent in any fashion. It's a just a "snapshot" in time. If a solid book is listed, I'd obviously "buy the dip" such as this instance in GSX1. Go for it!

I have been saying this for well over a year and I have been right every time. The comic book index is just reflecting what is happening with the economy. The comic index is on a slow decline, and you can put whatever spin you want on it to explain why.

Key collector was one of the reasons the market had the bubble - they were a tool for people making stupid overpays & terrible purchases that tanked the last gasp of stupid money in the market
I love the first 2 Ant-Man movies and would say among the best- then Quantumania destroyed any respect for that character. Wasn't Paul Rudd's fault, he portrayed the character so well.
What goes up must come down they say. I think 2025 will continue to see values fall. There needs to be a run on good comic movies and TV shows and people need to feel stable with their $$ to get people back into collecting.
I don't think anything will spike up again until movies start getting good again and the economy starts getting good again period lol. Otherwise people aren't gonna have hope, so nows the time to buy, hold for your personal collection or to hold to flip a few years from now :)
I hope GSX #1 keeps dropping I want to buy #1. Those Captain Britain books were a good read .. Chris Claremont I believe, the art was good too. I think I'd buy most of those books if their cheap.

Shazam has a lot of potential but no one seems to know what the potential is, or what they need to do to realize that potential. The character concept is really good, except for one thing, and that one thing is the thing that really hurts him. In the 1940s all the big characters had to have a sidekick, and in the case of Captain Marvel, he was his own sidekick. If they ever want Shazam to really make it. To make it big, in the movies, or to really make it big in the comic books, Billy Batson has to grow up. The juvenile Shazam, nowadays is just stupid. Yeah I'm sure there's a few people out there that prefer to see him always act like a kid, but they probably buy Jughead, and Archie all the time too. I would make it so that Billy Batson has grown up, and no longer has to even say the word Shazam, because once he becomes an adult he can just stay Captain Marvel all the time. He can still say Shazam and switch to a secret identity if you would like, but the idea is, he's got to become an adult, and act like an adult. then he can join the ranks of people like Superman and Batman. Remember he has the wisdom of Solomon. He would be on the intellectual level of say Batman, or someone like that, but the potential of Shazam is really great. However the potential of an overgrown kid Shazam is never going to be more than what it is now. This isn't the 1940s anymore. I for one have always wanted to see an adult type Shazam, or Captain Marvel, whichever you want to call him. I kind of like the name. Another thing that would help would be if the writers would fix his cape. the cape that hangs on to one shoulder just don't work. Either get rid of the cape altogether, or make it a real cape. I think a real Cape would be the best way to go. I can see it with a big lightning bolt on it. He would be a great character. It's why Black Adam was a better character than Shazam, he's an adult.
People bought those X-men keys thinking they were coming soon in the MCU but MCU releases have slowed and X-men coming has been a bit of a movie goal post after finding out about the Fox contracts lasting until 2025 anyway.
They’ll do X-men no matter what but eventually they might have to embrace the idea of some kind of reboot of the MCU or just acting like the X-men are in their own world and connecting them later which is probably what they should have done after Endgame.

Comics and superhero movies have been done to death the past 2 decades and are flopping left and right now in the theaters. People are taking money out of comic investments and putting in other sectors of the collection hobby like sports and pokemon, whose values are more sustainable. So we are seeing a shift into a buyers market for comics in the forseeable future.

@@metsrus In regards to superhero movies, D and V was the only major release of 2024. So there is not a single 'flop' comic adaptation for the year. If you care to go back further, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" made so much money that its now the third-highest grossing movie of all time.

As proof: "Heaven's Gate" lost so much money for UA that the studio had to merge with MGM just to continue. If the comics market was doing that badly, that would be seen in the auction prices of Grail issues. As little as a year ago, a copy of Superman # 1 sold for something like 5 million. The comics market may have it's struggles, but its by no means dead.

These books are not truly down, it is just the market normalizing. Those anomalies from the bubble are not amount that anybody should ever look at even when referring to an unregulated immature market like comics. That’s just bad economics man.
Old comics are losing their luster. Lots of money being made and not many people are into those characters or books. The TCG market is on fire. Crypto gains have been huge this month. Stock market has been great. Maybe next month will be better. Just me observing people. Seems like people want fresh characters and just different. Lower price points to enter. Money is moving out of comics and going into other collectables.
At what point will comics stop dropping in price? My pc is losing value faster than Diddy stock.

Comics are a losers game. Read them enjoy them thinking that it is an investment a waste of time.
Also, never buy graded books! That is a failing market.
They are worth more slabbed than not. Just about entire market is falling not just slabs.
