The Toyota Sequoia is a full-size SUV manufactured by Toyota mainly for the North American market since 2000 for the 2001 model year, being derived from the Tundra pickup truck. It is the second largest SUV ever produced under the Toyota brand, after the Japan-exclusive, military-focused Mega Cruiser.
Previously manufactured at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana in Princeton, Indiana between 2000 and 2021, and then in Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas in San Antonio, Texas since 2022, the Sequoia is the first vehicle from a Japanese marque in the popular mainstream full-sized SUV class in North America, and initial planning done by first-generation Sequoia chief engineer Kaoru Hosokawa aimed the Sequoia directly at the Ford Expedition, Chevrolet Tahoe, Nissan Armada, and other full-size SUVs.
Up until the 2021 model year, the Sequoia was slotted between the mid-size 4Runner and the premium Land Cruiser in the North American Toyota SUV lineup. With the discontinuation of North American sales of the Land Cruiser from the 2022 model year onward, the Sequoia became the flagship SUV in Toyota's North America lineup.
As of 2021, the Sequoia is sold in the United States, Canada, and Costa Rica. It is offered in left-hand drive only. Авто/Мото
I’ve got an 05 Limited with 196k on it. I love it. And it will run another 20 years with proper care.
I used to not look at these or even like them but now they definitely grew on me. Such a Great vehicle.
I used to think the same thing but they kinda started growing on me lol. Originally I was looking into 3rd gen 4runners but these were cheaper alternatives
Yes
That bottle is the radiator overflow bottle. Hot water/fluid from the radiator normally will overflow into that bottle which is normal. As it cools down it is sucked back into the radiator. This bottle is normally empty.
I have an 04 with 209k and I love it. My wife loves it too. I expect to get 500k out of it at least.
Thats great to hear!! 04 is the best year too
Not all wheel drive with a center locker only. They are 2wd with AWD and then it's 4x4 with the center locker engaged, on top of that traction control.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I live in Florida where cars don’t rot out. Floridians first rule in buying cars is never buy an up north car lol. But I’m going to look at a Toyota today. So thanks for the video.
Lol, yeah while we may have rust buckets, yall have flooded cars 😆. Hopefully you can find something good. Best of luck and thanks
@@ErvayAutoReviews lol it flooded in one hurricane most of those cars were totally demolished. My truck now is 26 years old and as solid as it was brand new
Good car but so sad no timing chain 😊like in 5.7 next generation
I've come to believe the only reason we have the "leaking gasket problem" is because this thing lasts so long!
Haha yup!
I'm shopping for another big vehicle, that I can have a heads up on. I can't find a disappointment opinion yet..just all the same long life issues (gasket, back handle, traction control circuitry, balls, etc). I'm thoroughly impressed with how inconsequential everyone speaks on these issues...and then keeps driving them! I'm sold🎉
I drove a sequoia for an hour once and the seating position is a major reason I have eliminated Toyotas. Granted they have held up well except for rust on the frame. I have a 2005 Yukon Denali with great reliability and excellent seating position which means you can drive it all day without being fatigued
Hm I'm not sure what you mean. I drive mine on 12 hour legs and super comfortable.
What year? The 2nd gen sequoia is great for long road trips. You have great seating position and thigh extenders
Nice detailed video. I just picked up a 03 runs great. I need that keyfob, can you include or share the link to buy one
Thanks! Key Fob Remote Replacement Fits for Toyota 4Runner 1999 2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007-2009/Sequoia 2001-2007 HYQ12BBX Keyless Entry Remote Control HYQ12BAN/HYQ1512Y/89742-35050(Pack of 2) a.co/d/05VDCkHo This should work for the 03 as well
1st gen sequoias are pretty damn good if you maintain them.
Did you replaced the water pump when you did the timing belt? Maybe it’s leaking from there?
Yes. The timing belt includes the belt, tensioner, pulleys and water pump. Probably just a hidden hole somewhere
How expensive was the timing belt job? Thinking about buying one off auction and looking to factor that into the equation
@tonyyayo2115 luckily my local shop was great. I got mines done for just under 1200
@@ErvayAutoReviews thanks
@@tonyyayo2115 I heard some people were able to get theirs replaced for around 800 bucks. Goodluck!
I have the same issue with my overflow reservoir in my '05, my guess is that it has a leak and I'm going to replace it. As you're going to shift the vehicle on, I wouldn't sweat it but that radiator looks like it's due for replacement (the top is discolored).
My 2005 Radiator gave up the ghost at 220,000 miles. They used to be inexpensive repairs. Not any more.
@@daviddru942 definitely not a $150 diy repair anymore but you can still save some money doing it yourself. might be a little time consuming on some vehicles but it could save you $500 in labor costs
Probably a pin hole in the radiator. Happened to mine. Replace the radiator.
Yup. It's also looking a little yellowed
I'd rather get this over a similar gen 4 Runner.... there's typically a premium on used 4 Runners where there are way more expensive than similar Pathfinders and other competitors
Change out your lower ball joints.
60K miles would not be to soon.
Sequia quality is not close to the Land Crusier quality IMO
Why are you In 4wd on the surface streets? Just so you know I can see it on the dash. Epic review by the way! I put over 40,000 thousand two sequoia 2002! 4wd . Also Put it through the paces off road four wheel drive.
The 1st and 2nd sequoias have a full time 4wd like the landcruisers, except the sequoia can go into 2wd and the landcruiser cannot. So driving it in 4wd on paved roads doesn't effect anything except gas mileage. I had it on because it rained the other day and forgot to turn it off.
Yeah I know all that. I was just wondering why you're in four-wheel drive... @@ErvayAutoReviews
