    Good comparison. Nissan is the clear winner. The black and white interior as the only color choice in the Sequoia is a major fail. There should be at least a black and or tan interior option Unlike the Armada, the Sequoia doesn't offer a second row bench seat, which given the fact that many of these will be family haulers is a poor choice. I'd gladly give up the 3 mpg advantage the Toyota offers for the non-hybrid complexity of the Nissan. The interior of the Nissan is much more premium. I hope Nissan can survive as a company. Toyota needs competition because this generation of Sequoia is mediocre.

      @kendrickdelosreyes5381 3 дня назад +14

      You didn't even mention the biggest drawback of the Sequoia: since they want back to a live rear axle, it now has the worst 3rd row and access to the 3rd row in the segment. Haven't personally driven all of them, but fairly positive it has the worst ride quality is well.

    • @weirdshibainu
      @weirdshibainu 3 дня назад +6

      @@kendrickdelosreyes5381 It is a drawback and the use of the addtional shelf behind the third row is a clumsy attempt to increase usable space. A friend of mine considered a Sequoia Platinum and we took it for a test drive. It moved well, but he ride quality was medicore. She went with a Tahoe. They had a Capstone on the lot and we looked at that. It was a beautiful red, but openingthe door she said no way to the interior color combo. It just looks weird.

      @@kendrickdelosreyes5381 Toyota fans would convince you the horrible reliability is the reason to live with the Sequoia’s twin-turbo V6 regardless of being worst in class everywhere other than power number and fuel economy. I’m convinced Toyota thinks Americans are dumb sheep that will keep them in business forever so they don’t have to invest nearly as much as their competitors. So far, Americans are proving them to be correct.

    You can even get the Nissan for a few thousands off MSRP. The Nissan just looks better and tougher. The sequoia seats not folding down is a biggg oofff. The armada is a now a patrol that is rebadged, Nissan will never mess up this truck because it’s a legacy truck. The patrol has an insane cult following on the Middle East. The Japan government will never let Nissan die because it’s a legacy brand also. I am not worried, I actually bought some stock in Nissan because I like the direction Nissan is going now. The armada and frontier is the best in their class.

    Reliability and resale value should go out the window since Toyota has engine failures with this new engine. This is the issue no one ever sees or thinks about.
    The reason why Toyota even has good marks for reliability is they have 13 years to perfect drivetrains and platforms and simply the reason why people had 5 spd transmissions in a 2023 4Runner and rear drum brakes on a 2023 Tacoma TRD Pro... Its insane .
    But the second they change and launch new products, we have engine failures (they say have been fixed but theres documented proof that some people that got their engines replaced are still experiencing the same failures) in the Tundra/Sequoia and Lexus line, along with new 2024 Tacoma transmission issues.
    Meanwhile, Nissan's twin turbo V6 in the new Armada will most likely be more reliable as is it related to the GTR engine and that has been around for 17 years (since 2007).

      @@ShiftinAt8600 I 100% agree. I would love for the Car Confection brothers to list specific resale value as it relates to models, vs the brand itself. The RAV4, Corolla and Camry carry the resale modeling for Toyota as a whole, and if we are using the 5-yr metric as the basis, a ton of that data includes the previous-gen Tundra, 4Runner, and Taco, which were almost always on top due to legendary reliability in powertrains. Now we Tundras with significant engine issues, Tacomas with transmissions that are breaking on auto journalists, so inevitably unreliable for consumers, and so on. Tundras were being turned away by dealers on trade because they knew they couldn't make as much money on them on resale due to the engine issues.

    As I've previously stated, it remains a huge mystery why Toyota decided to revert back to a solid axle design for the Sequoia(and please spare me the offroading argument, as GM(Z71), Nissan(PRO4-X), and Ford(Timberline) found a way around that while protecting their IRS suspension), which we all know is wayyy cheaper to produce than a multi-link IRS. With the Tahoe obviously setting the pace for the class, Toyota decided to revert back to the 90s versus following the path it set in 2008 with that IRS-equipped SUV. The packaging of the Sequoia is just unacceptable and the GH will definitely be the better choice for families that don't plan on doing a ton of towing or have a Tundra on standby. I was generally shocked by the poor road-going composure, ride quality, and body structure quakes of the Sequoia, again, reminding of the 90s big SUVs. Hop out of a Sequoia and into a GM triplet and it's a night and day difference.
    The Nissan is a quantum leap over the 2024 model in terms of tech and interior refinement. The styling will have to grow on me, but overall I'm impressed. The Nissan 5.6 V8 was a BEAST of an engine, if a little thirsty but super reliable. It will be missed. Nissan based this engine off of the hall of fame GT-R engine(obviously many components are different, but overall the design theme is similar), so hopefully it proves a worthy replacement.

      I bet you didn’t even watch the video. Almost every family is looking for Escalade, Yukon, Armada, QX80, Expedition or the best selling Tahoe. The sequoia’s max cargo capacity is only 86 compared to 97 in the armada/qx80 and almost 120+ in the GM vehicles. The Armada is clearly the better vehicle. I am not sure why Toyota made the decisions they made... frankly with all of their full-size SUVs. They are all way too compromised in some way. Meanwhile Nissan/Infiniti completely nailed it with the Armada/Patrol/QX80 when you consider their financial situation. I really think this new Armada is going to gain quite a bit of market share in this class. Also, the fact that the Armada is getting 20mpg+ in the real world in some reviews kinda makes the hybrid in the Sequoia not that much of an advantage, especially considering how much cargo room it eats up.

    So Armada is a rebadged QX80!

      lol! No. Wow. Not very informed I see. Armada is a rebadged Nissan Patrol…which we should just be calling it that. But it’s what it is. Patrol’s classic competition is the Land Cruiser. Not the Sequoia. From a size standpoint, this makes sense today. But from a ruggedness, quality, reliability, maintenance, and off-road overlanding capability standpoint, the Patrol has been the Land Cruiser challenger.
      The QX80 is simply the upscale brand version of the Patrol, much like the Lexus LX trim version of the Land Cruiser has been.
      Oddly, the Toyota flagship has been the Land Cruiser though. Not really the Lexus. The identity of the Land Cruiser overshadows the Toyota badge…and really the Lexus as well.
      Patrol has essentially done the same. The luxury brand is posh, not really better or more premium in the case of these two…though the jury is still out on the current Land Cruiser/LX.
      So if you want to pay more for posh, but not capability or premium components, go ahead. The Patrol is the prestigious “brand” identity in this case. And in the US, we strangely call it Armada. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    The amount of complexity in the sequoia to get only 3 more mpg is ridiculous. I know it's combined but that's insane.

      it's to have more power and the i-Force Max twin trubo v6 hybrid emits less harmful pollutants per mile driven than a traditional twin-turbo V6.

    nissan should be able to win this one Toyota did horrible job with sequioa expect for exterior. everything else on the totota is not good big outside small inside. rides like a truck bouncing around, tech is outdated on new vehicle and interior looks like a cheap truck with poverty buttons everywhere even on platinum model. I ended up buying 24 expedition because the outgoing ford did everything better than a fully redesigned toyota. New Armada was not out so I couldn't compare but interior pictures alone looks miles ahead of a sequoia interior. My only concern with Nissan is durability. I bought a 16 Murano platinum new for my mom, and around the 5-year mark with 30k miles on It; the leather seats and door panels started splitting, and it has trim pieces that have come unglued. meanwhile my 16 f150 with 160k on still looks new inside. my 08 Pontiac leather seats finally show 1st tear after 16 years and this was stiching coming loose not rip in leather. basically, I think Nissan uses cheap parts in their vehicles because i think seats are bonded leather like cheap leather sofa.

    Nissan/Infiniti appears to be in come-back mode, and with the Honda merger….this will give the conglomerate the full size body-on frame SUV’s Honda lacked.

    The sequoia is nice but not for 8 hours. We took our aunts capstone on a 8 hour trip to South Carolina. It’s by far the worst in the segment which it comes to space and packaging 2nd row and back. The cargo space is absolutely terrible because we needed the 3rd row. Is about as bad as our 3rd generation Highlander. And the weirdest part I find is the 2nd row seats not being able to move foward.
    That creates a big issue because the cargo space is bad. So you’d think that if the 3rd row moves foward, the 2nd row will too. It’s backwards. The cargo “management” system isn’t very manageable when you have 6 people in total. Moving away from that independent suspension was the worst idea possible because it’s Toyotas “largest” suv but it doesn’t stay true to that title. I feel like getting a grand Highlander is the better investment for people looking at a sequoia.

    Although Toyota has a history of reliability, the Armada leads for full size SUV’s.
