First class job, well done. The laser is an amazing tool to have in a workshop. I would have wired the heaters on the valves, and then realised they were too dim. Nice idea to backlight them.
Don't think so, as its a carb and mechanical fuel pump there's not much electrical on the engine apart from the plugs and the run on solenoid. Phantom 12v running around just to wind us up 😂
@@WhitelandRestorations if you’ve got her bolted on to the back of the stereo. It ain’t going nowhere fast. Loving the content. I’ve got a blue estate, someday i hope to put as much work into as y’all
Good morning, I have been following your restoration of your Volvo 244 since the start. I really enjoy your content and your channel has inspired me. I am currently working on 91 Volvo 245 which will be my oldest daughters first car. The Volvo 245 is turning out to be a tradition in my family, my father had a pair of 76’ 245’s (Orange and Dark blue) in the 80s. Anyway I just viewed your touch screen installation and the laser cut face plate is exactly what I am looking for, would you be interested in selling me a face plate if I sent you the dimensions of the touchscreen? (Of course I would need the yankee version) Thanks guys cheers!
At first I thought, hey maybe a nixie display, then it turned out you put pointless valves in that'll turn into razor sharp flying glass bullets in a crash! Uh. Great!
Can the radio be wired/configured so the entire OS does not need to boot everytime the car is started? I guess there is a permanent 12V and a switched one coming into it, right? My experience wiring radios goes back a few decades, but back then the permanent 12V was needed to keep the radio presets. Of course that means the car battery is always being discharged a little bit, but that's fine if the car is a daily driver.
The boot up time isn't that long.... Just long enough to put some sunglasses on lol. Don't think I'd trust a head unit to be left on unattended so we'll just wait a bit longer for booting up 😁
After years of calling them Waco I have learned they are pronounced "VACO" being German the W is a V P.S. can we have more of scaring your dear wife that was so funny
No problem at all, we can make one to order without the grill. Send us an email over at whitelandrestorations@gmail.com and we can have a chat about what you want 👍
If you need ICE you aint got the right engine set up.Ok I am a fully mature man but put a weber on an old pinto and retard the cam and cut out the middle exhaust box then you dont need any other sound system. What you want is the overun in second and third gear or visa versa.Snarl ,snap ,crackle and pop.I really miss that stuff with modern twin cam injector stuff with bloody sensors everywhere.Mind you I am too old to get away with that now.I am a mature man that buys slippers for my birthday and complains about modern music.
My first thought when I saw the 3 holes was " Are you really putting tubes in there?? How cool! "
..and you did!
Amazing work!
Thank you! They look pretty cool don't they!
Sick stereo system, especially with those tubes!
Loved the talking heater box flap 😂. Great video guys.
Bet you didn't know Volvo 240s could be puppets too 😂
My guess was Nixi Tubes, but I couldn't see what for. The tubes look very cool and retro! Great job!
Thank you very much 😊
I did the same thing but relocated the vents to the Aux gauge locations to maintain my functioning AC.

Awsome idea!! Just brilliant :)
I feel like I shouldn't like the valves, but I really do :-D Love your channel, every video makes me smile :)
Glad you're enjoying the videos! Makes our day bringing a smile to someone's face 😊
when i saw the sockets i thought the old valve tubes my friends farther used to work for rediffusion and there was hundreds in his shed
We had a stash of them and had a flash of inspiration!
@@WhitelandRestorations was it a flash or a gentle glow
I’m impressed. Again…
Thanks Martin!
So good to see you back. Love the mix of old and new 👏👍
Nice touch of retro modern in the cabin!
Waaaaagos!!! BEST invention ever, apart from cable ties and some other great stuff! :)
They really are bloody brilliant!
@@WhitelandRestorations I use them at work nearly daily, so yeah, marvelsarse!
Great job. Looks amazing
Thank you Hansjörg!
9 pins, my money was on the minature valve/tubes. great idea.
Glad you like it! What do you think of the flicker effect?
Very nice indeed!
Thank you Karl!
Great, it looks like you had it installed in the car from the factory.
We're amazed at how close the matt acrylic is to the factory finish!
Great design on the facer and upgrade stereo for your car. Nice laser cutter too.
Love that laser cutter, it's so handy! Thanks for watching!
Nice job both. Nothing like hunt the live wire lol😂. There it is, no it’s not! Brilliant!
Still don't know where that live went 😂
nice cardboard aided design there :)
It's the best way to mock things up.... Then there's lasers! 😁👌
Hi guys. Loved your work! I wonder if you can sell all the kit and send it to Peru. I have a Volvo 240 and really NEED to change the radio. Thank you!
Could the disappearing live connections be related to why the car won't start?
Don't think so, as its a carb and mechanical fuel pump there's not much electrical on the engine apart from the plugs and the run on solenoid. Phantom 12v running around just to wind us up 😂
Superb job. Would it be an idea to make the facia to include the blanking panel and the clock surround as one whole piece? Continuity?? OEMness??
I would like to buy one of the custom face plates!
Are you going to sell these facias?
(Watched to the end - exciting)
There is a wiring harness adaptor to iso
That bracket in the back of the radio was to stop thieves stealing your radio
Very handy... Hopefully still does the trick 😅

Would that be a "big valve" head unit? I'll get my coat... 😬 Seriously though, that looks amazing! Cheers. Leigh.
Ba boom tish! 😂
Van you share the 3d prototyp and tje the stereo and how you removed the ac vent
The face plates are available to buy on our webstore and the ac vent just pulls out 👍
Wow! You guys interested in selling these surrounds or selling a .DXF? For the Volvo fans!
Hi! The surrounds will be for sale on the website soon. We'll post an update when they are available 😊

Wow 🎉
Thank you
can i download your stl files for 3d printing somewhere?
They're not actually 3d printed, they are laser cut. They're also up for sale on our website now 👍
Is there a way for you to share/sell your laser cut file for the faceplate?
The face plates will be for sale on our website soon 😊👍
How much for that plate in the volvo
Have a look in the 240 section of the store on our website 👍

We've got our own way of pronouncing many things here in the workshop lol. Don't worry, there will be plenty more scares to come 😂
What year is it?
1985 👍
Would you be willing to sell the faceplate without the grill? I'm building a 92 and want android auto. Pm if interested in selling what you made
