Plus if I'm consciously trying to drive economically, I can get closer to 50mpg. For instance, in LA traffic I use no gas, cause if you barely press the gas pedal on a prius it only uses the electric engine. Also works if I'm cruising on a flat street or one that slightly inclines downhill. I'm just glad I don't have my Jeep anymore. What’s interesting is that he’s kind of onto something in a very roundabout way: dollar cost averaging. If the price of gas per gallon is increasing, you would actually save money with more frequent stops at the gas station.
If you notice, he never says you’re gonna save money, he just says you won’t have to spend a fat $80 all at once. It’s like having a payment plan on your full tank of gas
Well, he's partly right. The fuel efficiency is higher for a half full tank of gas than for an empty tank of gas. Not letting your tank get to empty will save you some money indeed but not $20, more like $1-2. Also, it will prolong the life of some components like the gas filter. But that's not what he's saying.
Exactly! My dad used to do something similar when filling his truck the last time gas prices were crazy. I think he would cap it at $40 per fill. He knew full well that he would have to fill more often. It was just to avoid that big of a price hitting all at once, and maybe the vague hope that prices would go down again soon.
@@ahmadadel8259 But the fuel efficiency for a full tank of guess is less than for a half tank, so shaq is still wrong by that logic. The car is more fuel efficient the less weight it has to haul around, so ideally you want to stay between 10-30% full. Empty is bad, but full is worse.
The one thing we have to say is that he is averaging the investment overtime and if you have a cashflow problem you may not be able to pay all at once.

What’s even funnier is I have a car that does cost 40 dollars to fill up from empty but once I get to half it only cost 15 to bring the line back up to “full”
Shaq made $292 million from basketball contracts ALONE (without accounting for investments or any other incomes like endorsements). If he has to worry about gas prices, the rest of us don't have a chance.
$20 filled up my Honda civic from empty to full 90% of the time. If people didn't buy gas guzzling monster trucks you wouldn't need to worry about gas prices.
Shaq is right, he's just explaining it poorly. On average over the course of a year the price of gas shifts up a down. So if your only filling up when the tank is empty your stuck with whatever the price is on that day. If you fill up on a regular basis you increase the likelihood that you'll fill up at a low point in the fuel price cycle. It's not the most efficient way to save on fuel but it's better then only filling when you have too.
0:26 Okay, it really took me a lot of repeats to figure out Shaq's "idea". If filling up the tank to full cost $80, then filling up half the tank would be $40. What Shaq didn't really understand is that filling $20 only gives a quarter of the fuel tank. So every time he filled up $20, it only gives a quarter of the fuel tank indefinitely.
What he is saying is that when you go down to 1/2 (worth 40$ but it doesnt matter) you fill 1/4 (half of what you used) and then you have 75% of your tank full so you feel like its almost full, then do that again when it drops to 1/2 you fill only 1/4 and thats how you keep driving on almost full tank for 20$
I think what he’s talking about is that his fuel gauge says half and then he puts $20 in and it says full again. He just doesn’t realize the gauge isn’t accurate immediately after filling it up
I do not understand this logic, surely it would make more sense if having less fuel in your tank gave you better mileage, because, you know, you're carrying less petrol/mass around to begin with. I'm not entirely sure how engine performance could be affected at all by how much fuel you have in your tank. It's pumped into your engine at the same pressure regardless.

I love this so much. Hating on Shaq cause his logic does not make sense but, filling up at half rather than empty is more cost effective. Mainly because you lose less fuel to evaporation that way. Don't know what the delta comes out to but, if it is more efficient and takes minimal time and effort..why not, eh?
Shaq thinks Kenny is complaining about having to spend 80 all at once. So he's telling him to break it up into pieces. He doesn't realize Kenny is talking about the miles per gallon of the car.
in that case, the solution is not applicable to everyone. I am guessing Kenny is rich enough to afford an electric car or live in a city with functional public transit, bike lanes and walk-able neighborhoods. All that is expensive for most people because if you go the city route, the city house or apartment is expensive as NIMBYs refuse to let more housing be built. And the cheapest electric car is 30k+ and you still need to be in an expensive enough area where you have chargers.

1:12 if you get Ernie to this state, you're doing something unhinged
My mum taught me what he's trying to explain
1. Always have a full tank of gas
2. Whenever you make a journey, fill it up (impressed,lol/ imprest 😉system of petty cash accounting Esq. But for fuel)
3. What this helps is your Zero is and will always be a full tank,.. before you drive it again.. 😊 Missing this easy Layup is golden though 6 years later ❤😊 Love you Shaq 😊
The best thing about this is Shaq has a PHD in Human Resource Development and owns multiple multi-million dollar businesses including Papa Johns, Five Guys and Krispy Kremes. And is a DJ on the side. All after a HoF NBA career. The man is an enigma 😂
I follow Shaq’s gas technique these days…hurts a lil less 😂 😭
This high budget comedic talk show really just played a remade RUclips video that most people saw 6+ months ago and added no comedic input whatsoever like they’re a 2015 reaction channel.
they do it all the time, such a shame, LWT has fell off
You can tell Shaq' is a low key parent; 'Case closed, shut the hell up, all of you.' The way every strong Dad ends an argument.
I thought his method was being a millionaire.
Can we do math! Nope! Hell no! Math is complicated! Holly how did he graduate college! Honestly! Seriously! Math is math! Great basketball player!
The other hosts facepalming is le chef-d'œuvre.
There's another thing people don't know about Shaq: his amplifier goes to 11.
That's a quality education he got from LSU.
Shaq also once thought that the moon was closer to Atlanta, Georgia than the west coast.
Shaq picked the wrong career. He chose basketball when he should have been doing…I don’t actually know what this is but he’s doing the hell out of it!
Shaq is a multi-millionaire. When was the last time he had to think about the price of anything, ever?
That does actually help your fuel injectors.
To be fair I have been told you get better gas mileage if you keep your tank full, vs running on empty. So i guess you would save money that way.
He right if you living check to check. That 80 hit hards all at once
What is this "gas" you speak of? My car gets plugged into the wall.
I'm surprised Shaq didn't ask the pump how many rings it has.
What he is saying is that when you go down to 1/2 (worth 40$ but it doesnt matter) you fill 1/4 (half of what you used) and then you have 75% of your tank full so you feel like its almost full, then do that again when it drops to 1/2 you fill only 1/4 and thats how you keep driving on almost full tank for 20$
Remember, this man holds a doctoral degree in education.
What if Shaq actually drives a surprisingly small car?
Man looks like he studied at Greendale Community College.
He forgot to say he was cost averaging and buying when the price drops. Lol.
Earnie's reactions are priceless
This makes about as much sense as his cryptocurrency pitches.
Turns out his fuel gauge just calls a 75% full tank half full.
I think what he’s talking about is that his fuel gauge says half and then he puts $20 in and it says full again. He just doesn’t realize the gauge isn’t accurate immediately after filling it up
Inside the NBA is the gold standard of entertainment ~ I don’t even like basketball anymore but keep up just to watch these guys.
It is not math... it maq. Maq is Shaq trying to use numbers
His math is wrong, but he is right about filling up at half full. Engines are more effecient with a full tank. Just not by double, by like 2%.
The engine just knows and uses its power more carefully.
Sad thing? Shaq thinks he’s right.
"Is it safe to do a full body workout every other day? If I go every other day I will be at the gym 4-5 times a week, is that over training?
I typically work out for 60-90 minutes, I push my self and raise the weight each week."
"That makes no sense. There are only 7 days in a week. If you go every other day that is 3.5 times a week."
@@UnscannableDrew "Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday. That is 4 days.
How do you go 3.5 times? Do a half workout or something? lol"
@@IsiahTomas "7x in 2 weeks = 3.5 times a week, genius.
And yeah, 3x a week, full body workouts are good."
@@SuperShado101 "I never said anything about going exactly 7 times, like I said, if I go every other day, that is 4 DAYS A WEEK. How hard is that to comprehend?
Week 1 - Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
Week 2 - Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday.
8 DAYS IN 2 WEEKS
In your terms,
8x in 2 weeks = 4 times a week, genius.
All Muscle and No Brains? lol"
@@IsiahTomas "You double counted Sunday - that is 2 weeks plus 1 day.
Did you fail grade 2 math ?
PLUS your old post said 4 or 5 times a week. Now you just neglect to mention the 5.
Grow up and admit when you are wrong. Believe me you will get a a lot further in life this way."
He’s leaving out the part where he only gives the clerk $20 for $40 of gas and says ‘what you gonna do, call the cops on Shaq?’
Really? Inside the NBA is way more popular than John Oliver, but thinks they need to talk about Shaq? It's sad you have to show this
yeah, a swing and a very big miss
I love this so much. Hating on Shaq cause his logic does not make sense but, filling up at half rather than empty is more cost effective. Mainly because you lose less fuel to evaporation that way. Don't know what the delta comes out to but, if it is more efficient and takes minimal time and effort..why not, eh?
if you are accounting for evaporation, you should also account for the fuel spent driving to the gas station twice as often.
@@jhonshephard921
The solution is for Kenny to get a car with better gas mileage and for Shaq to understand what the conversation is about.
$20 bought me just 4 gallons. No way are you getting a full tank from $20 right now.
Company cousins over at TNT
certainly there weren't that many head injuries during his basketball career
This is some serious dad logic.😅
That's like going back multiple times for a gram when you should've just bought that 8-ball.
Americans will do anything about gas except buy a car that gets good gas mileage
Can't leave those muscle cars behind. But then again, even some modern muscle cars have modern technology like cylinder deactivation.
“Not 40, 20” got me 😂
When I had a car, I only put in 22 dollars max every payday as that car was just for work and even then I keep it running on 3.5 gallons of gas at all times.
