- Wolf legs in progress for my halloween werewolf costume. Upholstery foam glued to leggings that go over digitigrade leg stilts.

Not a furry but I absolutely love the way these kinda legs look and those are perfect for what I imagine most are too bulky or too tall so amazing job would you ever do a toutorial?

Hey, I'm a filmmaker here, and I would totally get these. If I had the opportunity to get something like that for making films, I don't think I'd ever not use them.

There are stores where you can buy digitigrade stilts and you would need to do the modifications to that yourself, unfortunately, but many tutorials here on youtube can be helpful even if it's from someone else.

Pretty good, But you need to add weights to the toes. Remember that canids walk mostly on their toes so you need the toes to look like their sitting flat on the floor bearing most of you weight, even if they aren’t in this case!

Gotta be careful not too make them too heavy and too cumbersome though. I'm not sure how difficult it is to walk with these, but if extra weight is added, it might make it more difficult
Instead of adding physical weights, there could be wire supports or springs added to tilt them towards the ground.
I don't make stuff like this, though, so I'm just throwing an idea out there.
I like how inhuman you made them look. It seems like it'd be taxing on your ankles to be in them for extended periods, but I'd say that's a worthy sacrifice for the effect. Incredible job so far and I can't wait to see how much better they look in the future!
Genuinely curious how it feels to walk in it, from the video it looks very supported but also kind of like walking in steep heels?
@Liben To me it looks like walking in steep heels but putting to much weight on your heels would probably make you over balance and fall (it looks like theres solid support under the heels but that does change the center of balance being so far forward) so probably most of the weight is being held by your ankles which would hurt after a while. Not saying it's a bad piece, looks absolutely amazing, but definitely a costume you'd want to wear only for a small part of whatever event you're going to ^^

@@pentagonyx It's on stilts, but unlike traditional stilts, the ankles are set in the "backwards bend" of the lwg here, putting the center away from the "feet" of the stilts. That means to compensate, someone walking in these would have to hold their body forward with their ankles and knees, making it extremely taxing on those joints to move in a lot ^^
If you look up digitigrade stilts they have a website and RUclips videos on them.
While they do take some time to get used to walking around in, they are designed to attach to the feet, calves and thighs which helps to distribute the weight more evenly.
Plus they have added joint springs to help out.
I'm not saying it would be easy, but with some practice it wouldn't be that uncomfortable
The furries will get even more power but this still looks cool

These look undeniably rad. Were the hands/arms of the costume also extended to match the added height from the legs to help everything look proportional? I imagine that can be difficult, since making functioning hand extensions with proper grip strength and articulation seems a lot more complex, and not having full control of your hands while at a party or convention does seem like a huge headache.
unfortunately it was not possible to do that because you will make yourself nearly immobile and you won't be able to remove or put on costume pieces by yourself, exactly what you said

I honestly wish humans had digitigrade legs. They just seem better built, regardless of if it's for explosive power like a dead sprint or high jump, or endurance and sustainability. The only downside I can think of is that it would probably be harder to swim, but as a land-based animal, I don't see that as a loss.

Love your stuff. You should check out our rigs. We have things from arm extensions, modified digilegs to a carbon fibre tail that works of the hips. Maybe one day we could collaberate.
I made a tail with a foam base, it's a dinosaur tail btw but nothing I do attached it to my back without it dragging on the ground, I tried elastic strap I tried a belt but the tail is too heavy, what kind of straps or what should I use to hold it up and on?

I'm really curious, how does balancing in those work? Is it tricky or do you have a work around for that? Because in my head it would work like heels without a heel which is a lot of counter balance so you don't sprain your ankle-

Bro, fursuits are literally next level engineering at this point. You fursuit designers are literally pushing the boundaries of what can be engineered and how small that engineering can be made.

looks good so far but the toes need to bend when you lift the foot off the ground.
The problem is how to get them to flex out when you put the foot back down (without tripping on them)
