Mai has only been in doa but even if she wasn't shes clearly snk's poster girl. The reason I bring up cap vs snk is because those game are literally about the best of both companies. When capcom made cap vs snk 1&2 kyo was the head of snk and when snk made chaos kyo was the head of snk. Both those games kyo and ryu were the rivals. In snk promotion snk products kyo and mai are the faces.

Quite true. They made K, Alba, Soiree, Crimson Ash and even Yuki (from NG Battle Colosseum) as the main characters of each newer saga but only Kyo stood the test of time.

SNK wanted Kyo and Iori to be dead After KOF 97 based on the Japan team ending so that K' can take the lead as the new poster-boy of KOF series during 99 development, But that plan got scrapped cause they knew that'll piss off alot of fans.
Kyo has always been an arrogant and egoistic person with zero interest in his culture and heritage. I remember he hated wearing the headband because it was related to the Kusanagi Uniform and burns it before a fight in Nests Saga games. Him wearing the band again instead of burning it might be symbolizing his slow but actual rise to maturity and care for his culture and heritage I think.

Kyo's moves seem to remind of both his KoF 97 "rework" self(The one that stuck for the rest of the series) and old KoF 94-95 Shoto Kyo(Especially with his Super bringing back his ground projectile)... The jacket and headband coming back seems to show that much, he seems to be a middleground between his "younger" and "older"(if the words even apply here) selves. I like it.

@@shauneywilson5710 Yes, but this is KOF story. Mascot mean nothing if he/she wasn't a main character in that story. Look at Mortal Kombat, Scorpion is the mascot but Liu Kang is the main character. Ryu just happen to be both mascot and main character for Street Fighter. Perhaps if SNK released a new sequel to Garou or Fatal Fury, then we can see Terry shine again as main character.

This was incredible; best Kyo in years. For those who LOVE to complain about graphics, compare this with KOF14's Kyo....the difference is NIGHT AND DAY. His 90's coolness and essence are back and he no longer looks like a kpop idol. Is Kyo teaming up with Joe and...TERRY???
