Was it an actual subscription or just one of those scams running rampant using the media coverage that Musk is getting? There have been many scams on random sites that charge using "Twitter" as the recipient.
It most certainly is-assuming there wasn't anything in the ads policy about being charged automatically when submitting ads. Perhaps this was the norm, and the other 2 getting it for free was the mistake? I doubt it though lmao

This is really interesting because I'm an Amazon best-selling author, and I figured I could sneak in a bargain bit of marketing whilst twitter/X is having these issues attracting other advertisers. I built a pretty inoffensive ad. Basically just the cover for the first book in my flagship series with a short description. But it KEPT getting rejected. They wouldn't tell me why. Their support team was completely unresponsive and even when I asked for a review, it would just get rejected again. I have no idea why or what could possibly be wrong with it. This is my book, I own the IP, the cover isn't AI generated and I'm an established author/brand. There was nothing offensive or risky about the description either. After a few weeks I eventually gave up. What a stupid system where someone running a legitimate business is trying to give you money to advertise inoffensive content and you say no with no explanation as to why. Not even sure if a human ever looked at it, so no idea how these weird advertisers can get their ads running where I can't.
I bet they have a collection of images preflagged as owned IP and block everyone other than their biggest established clients from running those images. So for example if Random House tried to run your ad I bet it would have gone through with no problem. Even though they don't own your IP.
Though I bet if you tried to buy a 100k ad run it would have gone through too.

Wow, that customer service is laughably bad. In all my years of bad customer service, the worst I’ve gotten was long wait times or the support didn’t have a solution. I’ve never had them deny support like that. Pathetic. Maybe twitter should fix their system instead of blaming their customers

Make sure to dispute that charge for Twitter Blue with your bank! It might be too late now, but if they took your money non-consensually, you may be able to get it back. If nothing else, it's another knock against Twitter that they might have to actually deal with if enough banks come knocking at their door...

It's refreshing in a way. Some platforms treat advertisers like royalty while their users are unhappy. Twitter doesn't satisfy anyone at all.

This is also funny because iirc Disney admitted they don't see these social media sites as worth gauging audience opinions or interaction. It's just another place to put ads, like any TV channel or magazine. The moment you make doing a "set and forget" annoying is the moment you've lost all of these big companies. They are NOT interested in hoops from a platform they barely care about anyway.
Looking at Disney's stock decline due to silly business practices, they're not the most competent gauge to use
social media ads has a .1% transaction rate. Unless you're either making it cost next to nothing or your products have a very high margin you're not getting a lot from social media.
@@ferinzz It really depends. You need to market the right thing for the right people on the right platform. The only real way to gauge where you would have the highest interaction rate is by experimenting. Regardless, Twitter has always been the worst place to advertise (it had under .1% interaction rate for everything other than specific ragebait political advertisements) even before Felon's takeover and it's gotten worse.
Brands only _recently_ (like 4 years ago) found out the effectiveness of running and maintaining a social media account. Examples of this are McDonald's account and Opera GX.
What baffles me is saying advertisers "boycotted" twitter. They chose not to buy an advertising service because it sucks. I'm not currently "boycotting" tv by watching youtube.
Everytime you visit a website other than Twitter you're boycotting Musk's precious traffic, that's why he's taking you straight to the courthouse, so he can be laughed out by the judge and jury.

Early on he publicly insulted the technical team responsible for the Twitter app. A developer responded with a correction along with suggestions on how he could re-focus the company's attention to fixing problems instead of fancy new features. His response was to fire him via Tweet.

This is purely my own thought process, but Deemer might have a solid chance of getting the money back by asking the bank for a chargeback. No communication was given about an expected RECURRING charge, plus like what was explained, I'd also think, "Well if my ads aren't going through and I apparently have a policy violation, then I won't be charged."

imo the worst part about twitter ads ias that in order to buy an ad you first have to be paying them a monthly subscription. no other ad service requires this. you can simply buy ads on their business platform. but twitter wants you to pay money for the privilege of giving them even _more_ money. it's stupid.

Second of all, Deemur can go to arbitration. Probably not court due to arbitration agreements in Twitter's TOS, but he never agreed to pay for Twitter Blue.
Arbitration doesn't apply to something outside of the contract. They straight up charged him for something he didn't ask to purchase.
