I can't thank you enough, Donnie! I've barely used my Inspire 1 in the last 2 years because of the video feed problems. As much as I love the X5R camera and the interchangeable lenses, it became virtually impossible to use for my architectural photography work so I purchased a P4P to get me through until I was ready to drop the big bucks for the Inspire 2 with X5S. After doing your firmware downgrade my Inspire 1 is flying like new with very solid video feed. It was a little tricky creating a blank document on a Mac, but once I figured that out it went very smoothly. Also, because I'm using the X5R camera I did have to add an R to the code in the blank document (from WM610_FC550_FW_DEBUG to WM610_FC550R_FW_DEBUG). To do the firmware downgrade on the controller I had to use an old iPad with an older version of the DJI GO app and it took only 10 minutes complete the downgrade to 1.06. Not sure if it was because of the X5R camera but the firmware downgrade to 1.08 on the aircraft took about 2 hours! Thanks again, Donnie!
Great description for the Golden Key, But I think I will follow your earlier advise, "have a backout strategy". So, I will do one bird for the X5 and keep one for the X3. Make sure the X5 works (test flight, etc) then do the second bird. Agree with previous comments, "Keep doin what you are doin"....Great advise....Donnie THANKS!!
You are an absolute magician with your key! I got my Inspire 1 V2 to go from the latest 1.11 back to 1.8.01.00!! I got the 1.8 firmware from panorobot (per your other great tip!) for the record I have a Pro actually with the X5 camera mount but using a X3..I have both cameras by probably won’t try to mess with the X5 firmware and will just use my X5 solely with my Osmo. One weird thing was at the end of the downgrade I got the dreaded long solid beep so I thought it didn’t work and figured I would have to reload the 1.11 and start over because I tried previously to go to 1.09 unsuccessfully (using your magic key) but I checked the log this last time and it was a success and after then rebinding the controller (downgraded to 1.6) I checked my about screen and the bird and camera are both on 1.8!!!) Can’t possibly thank you enough. To the 3 people who thumbs downed this video try again :) If only I could downgrade the app firmware to 3.11 I’m sure it would be even better but with me being on the latest 3.1.47 app firmware my bird is actually useable again and working great! So many thanks! Happy holidays! Subscribed!
Thanx again, Mr. Winn. I left some instructions to get you started rolling back your App to v3.1.1, which really does complete the "Inspire bliss" project. RUclipsr DigDat0 has a ton of awesome tutorials on various hacks. The instructions I left in the other video's Description section are kind of an amendment to his instructions. Between the two, we should get you there.
You are welcome. Just be careful mixing instructions from different users. Had you followed my instructions to the letter (and not someone else's), you would not have a bricked remote controller. Hopefully, we can get you going. But I'm afraid if your controller is bricked, I have no way of unbricking it.
What more can I say? Your awesome mate you truly are. Very well put together video, I followed your instructions with no problems at all and like you said it would it worked a treat. Ive smashed the life out of the subscribe button keep doing what your doing...Many Thanks
Bonjour , tout d'abord merci pour votre vidéo . Malheureusement le fichier mise a jour v1.10.1.40 pour la zenmuse x3 nest plus disponible :( Auriez vous un lien de téléchargement ?
Tell me about it, I've made many attempts and most of it ended up in the recycle bin. I was however expecting your 'Date Night at the Laundromat' to be nominated for the Golden Globes.
Hi friends, how are you? First of all excuse my English !!! Things work on the translator basis for me lol ... Regarding the firmware downgrade for the X5R ... it was a few sleepless nights trying to find versions of firmwares that worked in the downgrade ... I finally found it and it was okay to do the whole procedure using Donnie Frank's method ... THE SECRET IS - USE THE FIRMWARE WM610_FC550R_FW_V01.08.01.40 I hope to help some friends just like Donnie saved me with this video !!! Good flights for all you friends !!!
Hi Donnie...First of all BIG BIG thanks for sharing with us your time and high knowledge....After spending one day trying to roll back from V11 my Inspire 1 Raw and unsuccessful...I think i find it :-) Your magic key must have this name file for pro and raw ...For example For X5R camera - WM610_FC550R_FW_DEBUG For X5 camera - WM610_FC550_FW_DEBUG For X3 camera - WM610_FW_DEBUG and the most important thing is to download the right bin for the right camera ex For X5R camera - WM610_FC550R_FW_DEBUG + WM610_FC550R_FW_V01.08.00.90.bin and not WM610_FC550_FW_V01.08.00.90.bin like i did before...That is working like a charm ...
Awesome. Kudos to your for taking initiative. I don't have an X5R camera, so I was only able to experiment with the X3 and X5. That said, I honestly didn't have much luck with the X5. I had very good luck with the X3. Glad you were able to work with the X5R. Good job!
THank you Donnie...I just think about X5 (not R) they blocked the process when you have installed V11...Just one light, did you try the V09 instead of trying in one shot V08 ? V09 seems to be different than others about checks : WM610_FC550 _FW_V01.09.01.10.bin
Honestly, the Firmware and software are configured and are probably never going to change. However, I've yet to hack the NFZ or altitude limitations. That's next on my list. But honestly, I don't use this bird as much as I used to and no longer use it for mapping (use a P4P now). If I DO decide to hack the NFZ and height limitations, I will probably make a video about it.
thx for your feedback...NFZ is not activated if we are in V8 right ? ...i'm also interested to hack 500m limitations and also the 32channels ---> i don't want to use the fake gps method ...doing some research too
Hey Daran. My apologies, I don't know what "V8" is. Regarding the 32 channel hack, I highly recommend it. I can't tell you how many times I was able to clear up crappy video feed by setting the RF to a clear channel. It's pretty easy an painless. The hardest part is installing a legacy version of iTunes on your computer. I don't have time to explain now, but if you get hung up, lemme know and I'll see if I can help.
Thanks for making the Video Donnie! Unfortunately, I seemed to have "bricked" mine.... It's strange, the x3 camera seems completely dead, after doing a lot of flailing it now does absolutely nothing upon boot up. The fan is spinning on it but that's it. I tried the X5 magic key file and appears to be doing nothing either. The X5 camera is booting and doing it's calibration routine. But I cannot connect the remote or anything.....
It would help a lot if you could post a video of your camera's behavior and what you are doing. Are you sure you're using the correct Magic Key file on your X5? That said, users have had very limited success with the X5. The X3 is a better camera for rolling back firmware. But if your X3 is dead, you have a conundrum. You really should make a video. It would help.
I think have the firmware version WM610_FW_V01.11.01.50. I followed your instructions to the letter for my V1 Inspire, however, I get this msg: “====2014.01.01 00:00:06 re-con disconnect===== packet WM_FW_V01.08.01.00.bin Result: Abort. The current firmware does not support downgrade. Use a different version of firmware to downgrade the target version.” Do you have any ideas? Magic key and firmware didn’t work? Does this mean I can’t change the firmware back anymore? I’ve tried your procedure several times with the same result.
If you read though the comments for this video and the Part 1 video, guys are having a lot of difficulty with FW v1.11.xx. That said, one guy with an Inspire Pro successfully rolled back to v1.08.xx from v1.11.xx. So apparently it CAN be done. I have never personally allowed v1.11.xx to install on any of my Inspires, so I have no personal experience with it. That said... I would try rolling back to v1.10.xx. Try it with and without the DEBUG (Magic Key) file. You're in uncharted waters, so you're kind of on your own. Please take good procedure notes and post your results. Thanx.
Yes it went through the sequence. All 4 motors did their thing in sequence. I tried to install firmware to remote by flash drive, sd card and straight from camera to remote via cable. Remote doesn’t seem to take firmware any way I do it. When I was finished, I went to the app and put finger on upper right hand screen, it says no firmware is installed.
Hey Tom. It sounds like you dug yourself into a hole. Nothing in my instruction set says anything about using a USB connection to update the controller. I don't know where you got that idea, but it wasn't from me. Unfortunately, I've never had to unbrick a controller, so I have no idea the RC unbricking procedure. I've asked several times if your remote connects to your iPad. You haven't answered. If it DOES, there's hope. If it does NOT, I'm afraid you're on your own. How do you know if it connects? That information is in the video I provided earlier. Here it is again. Watch the whole thing in it entirety, THEN get back to me. Many of your questions have already been answered in my videos that I have so pain-stakingly produced. ruclips.net/video/GmX_MESi86o/видео.html
I followed step by step to debug and downgrade the bird but the report I got afterwards said the following... "========= 2017.10.16 13:02:19 ===================== Packet: WM610_FW_V01.11.01.50.bin Result: Abort. The firmware on the SD card is identical to or older than the current firmware on the device." What now? Do I go back to the newest firmware and hope for the best or is there something missing that I need to do? HELP ! ! !
@@drummerdonniedotcom I have the Inspire 1 V1. I used the link you supplied from the Robot site for v-1.08.01. I typed in the "Magic Key" exactly as you quoted and typed. I added them both to my micro card (empty) and installed it into the bird for the update. I let it go for 45 minutes (just in case) and then I rolled back the remote controller to v-1.06 and then I had to bind the controller to the bird. I took everything outside and fired it up but I got only a flashing yellow light on the tail and my controller blinked red and beeped as if it wasn't bound correctly. I tried once more and as I opened up the card to make sure that the correct versions were on the card, I saw a black box with "exectxt". I opened it and got a list of attempts that the bird tried to change versions and I got 2 successes and 6 aborts with the quote as I posted above. After my second attempt, I got the exact same results. Since I had a job the next day, I went back to the version 1.10.5 and re-bound the controller and all was well until I got around 600 ft from subject and then the weak transmission began again. I am so frustrated with the firmware update method on the Inspire models....It takes away another life recycle from the rare batteries for the Inspire 1 series. Help !
Hey mate. After placing the key file along with the WM610_FW_V01.08.01.00 firmware, my Inspire 1 T600 drone doesn't respond at all, during the update everything started fine, but after turning on the engine lights it took about 20 minutes and the update failed. Now it turns on but it seems like it is in a sleeping state, the camera stabilizes the light, starts up perfectly but after starting the yellow light keeps flashing every 1 second as if it were normal but it doesn't connect with the radio. I try to update again without the key file after about 5 minutes the noise baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Good evening, I'm watching a bunch of videos on youtube about the inspire 1, I just got me a Inspire 1 RAW and it came with the most recent firmware and I'd like to know if this will bring my drone to connect better with my camera (it has a X5r camera) please, let me know. Thanks.
@@IgnazSouza: Literally as of yesterday, some new information has come down the pike regarding the Inspire 1 RAW. One of my fellow enthusiasts purported that he was NOT able to roll back to v1.08.01.04, but he WAS able to roll back to v1.08.01.02. As of this writing, I'm trying to find out where to get version ".02"
THX for your Work, please let us know wich DJI GO Version you use. I tried to downgrade the DJI Go Software on my Apple Phone and Ipad, tried to downgrade to Version 3.1.11 but it doesnt work at this Time, Itunes doesnt support instaling Apps yet. It works on Android Units but it is crap to fly with this. Did you have a Info for the best DJGO Software Version on IOS 13 with RC 1.6.0 and AC 1.0.8?
I use version 3.1.1 of the Go App (iPad) and v4.0.8 of the Go 4 App (also iPad). I don't believe either will run on iOS 13, so I have NOT allowed any of my iPads to update past v12.
Thanks for this great video, you're a real life saver. Do we also need to do something similar for the XT infrared? What about remaining individual batteries?
Check the "About" tab in the Go App one at a time with all your batteries. If you get any erroneous version readings, run the .bin file again for that battery. Regarding the XT, I don't know. I can tell you that I didn't update the X5 and it ran great. In addition, I installed a friend's X5 that was a different FW version from my X5 and it also worked great. The X3 FW version has to match the bird, but the X5 does not. So I imagine the XT is probably like the X5 in that regard. YMMV.
HI Donnie, I have been getting bad video transmission and was relieved to find your info. The Crystal Sky states the camera firmware needs upating. Since this thread started years ago, can you comment on the current firmware? Does it improve video transmission? Will upgrading prevent any chance of rolling back? I have an Inspire 1 Pro with X5. I do not have an X3, which you say is the preferred camera to rollback with. I am currently running: Version 1.11.01.50+ App 3.1.59 Camera 1.11.1.50 Remote: 1.7.80 Thanks so much!!!!
Hello Peter. I'll address you questions and concerns here in order they appear in your comment: Re: Current firmware... I cannot comment on the current firmware, as I have never used it. I CAN say that I DO see complaints in the Inspire forums with any FW beyond v1.09.xx. Yes, 1.08.xx is the sweet spot. Yes, video transmission will improve if you roll back to FW v1.09 or v1.08. FW v1.10.xx essentially throttles back video Tx strength, and is never "re-boosted" in any subsequent FW version. Re: Crystal Sky... Because this is a DJI product that I do not own, I'm kind of in the "all bets are off" mind set. Based on vast comments I have seen in the forums, the Crystal Sky is a completely different animal from the iPad (what I use). It's my understanding that CS uses a completely different version of the Go App, too. So...tough for me to comment there. I would say TEST with an iPad, and once all that works, THEN connect the CS. This way you can determine if the CS is the cause of your problems. While my personal roll back success has been with the X3, others HAVE been able to roll back with the X5, but NOT the X5R. One guy in particular not only used the X5, but he was able to roll back from v1.11.xx, which is something I failed it on a buddy's Inspire (we were limited to how much time we had, so that may have been the problem). You'll have to go through the comments to find the guy who did it. He posted some details that may help. He MAY have commented in the "Part 1" video. Re: X3 vs X5... I found that the X3 camera's FW version MUST match the bird's FW version. However, this is not the case with the X5. I flew 3 different X5's, all with different FW versions without a hitch. This is not to say that ALL FW versions work, but my experience showed that at least 3 different FW versions DID work with my Inspire 1, v2. I hope this helps. Please post your findings Good luck.
@@drummerdonniedotcom U da best! Thanks for the prompt reply. Since the gear is company owned, I'm timid about bricking anything. I'm inclined to upgrade everything and cross my fingers. I flew today and video TX was horrid. I'd rather show my dept. head how bad it works and convince him to get an Mavic Air; more flight time and better features? Plus, I have not researched it too much, but I have not heard about the transmission problems I'm having.
@@Slabysz: Coincidentally, my buddy's Inspire 1 was ALSO a company drone. So I only had 2 hours with it. Normally, the roll back takes about 30 minutes. The only way failures can be overcome is to try different things...which we didn't have time to do. That said... The Mavic is a fine bird. I own one. I also own a P4P. I use all of them. It just depends on what I'm doing.
@@drummerdonniedotcom BTW, one really nice feature of the Crystal Sky is the ability to do screen captures, something you might find helpful for doing your videos. Thanks again for your help

Love these tutorials and all the tips and feedback from everyone - and all the questions and answers, so now it's my turn to ask a question - i'm stuck. Downgraded the controller to 1.6, and trying to downgrade the inspire 1 pro (v2) X5 to 1.8 FW, but it goes for 30-40 minutes and the camera flashes green/red while making the normal sounds. No lights on the motors, blue light flashed twice on the back, but then the camera light goes red and makes a grinding sound, all while the motors are beeping super loud. is all this normal? (the beeping, the camera light red (steady) and the solid bzzzzzrrrr sound from the camera for 20 minutes? Or have I toasted something (weird additional issue for fun- the IMU says disconnected and all the boxes on the IMU screen are blank)
Hey Idan. The roll back on the Pro with an X5 camera takes over an hour. Check your log files post-attempt. I think you will find that the log files will convey that the AC is still trying to upgrade. Some guys have let it cook for as long as 2 hours. Some guys had to roll back one firmware at a time. You didn't mention which FW version is presently installed.
@@drummerdonniedotcom Thanks Donnie, it's cooking right now, just passed the 90 minute mark and still beeping away in the garage... the sound is amazingly annoying. Why is that necessary? 😹
@@idanyork: I hear ya. Which version are you on and which version are you trying to roll back to? If you're on v1.11, that's a hard one to get out of. I might be able to help but I need more details.
@@drummerdonniedotcom - at this point, i will take any functioning version. Problem is there were some errors and the MC (0305 and 0306), the ESCs (all 4) are not detected, the motors are all beeping like crazy. Is there was some way to do a hard reset, or some BIN file that can re-write everything back to factory? Otherwise, I'm looking for another NCORE.
@@idanyork: Reaching at straws, sounds like the gyro may be stuck. Give the bird a good whack to unstick the gyro. No guarantee this will work, but it might. Either that or the gyro is not connected properly. Has your bird been crashed?
Donnie, Good looking videos. I recently bought a buddies i1/x3 and batteries. He said to NOT do any updates as it could break things. Problem is I think it is already broken as even he complained about losing connection with the bird during flight. It happened to me, too and I'm able to hit the RTH button and the bird lands, so I think it's a 1-way issue but it IS intermittent, not doing it every flight. APP 3.1.61 VERS 1.10.01.40+ CAM 1.10.01.40 RC 1.7.60 FLYSAFE 01.00.01.09 From your vids, it appears that my path would be to put 1.08.?? (using the debug method) on the bird and 1.06.?? on the R.C. Can you speak to what the specific versions (the .??'s) I would be using? Also, when doing the upgrades, should I be doing it FOUR times if I have four batteries? Hope I hear back from you. Again, GREAT videos! I think you give folks a bit of a confidence boost. Thanks - Matt
Hi Donnie, first I would like to congratulate you for such a great channel...:) Unfortunately I'm having the same issue with my i1 Pro. Can I use the files you indicated in your other video that are for the x3 on the x5? I can't seem to find the 1.9 firmware version. Thank you
I don't believe the files are interchangeable. Furthermore, I had really crappy luck trying to use my X5 camera. I actually bricked my bird, which I was able to unbrick. I wish I had better news. I just didn't do enough research with the X5. I know you probably don't want to hear this, but I suggest you try to borrow an X3. That said... Some guys are having luck with DUMLdore....which is a completely different way of loading FW into your bird. Though I have used DUMLdore on my Mavic and P4P, I have NOT used it on my Inspire, mostly because the other method worked with the X3. I wish I had better news....
I have problem about my bird bep bep sound not stopibg it has been 3hourse but the color front left until back right has finish and looping 3 hourse ,but on dji app my bird has been downgrade to 1.8 did u need delete my WM610 file on sd card? And go fly?
hi donnie, I Installed the downgrade version 1.08 using the x3 camera and it seems to work nicely. then i tried to downgrade the x5 to the same version and and seemed like it actually started the downgrade but at one point the camera went completely limp after running the update for quite a while and seemed stuck. I have since tried several versions even the newest to get it working again but it will not go out of its limp state. is there anything I could try to fix it or is it a case of having to send it back to dji.
Unless your X5 has the latest FW version, you shouldn't have to roll it back. AC FW v1.08.xx is compatible with all version of the X5 firmware sans the latest version (1.11.xx I believe). If you have updated your X5 to the latest version, I don't know how to recover from that. I tried 3 different X5 cameras all running different FW on my Inspire 1 (FW v1.08.xx), and it worked with all 3 cameras. But once my buddy upgraded his X5 to the latest FW version, it bricked the X5 and I never could recover it. That said, we were very limited on time, so there were a lot of things I didn't get to try. * If you go to the Inspire 1 forum (inspirepilots), reach out to a guy named Brian Fist (that's not his real name). He knows more about this stuff than anybody alive. He may be able to help.
Thank you so much for the quick response, unfortunately I can't get the remote to accept new firmware, still will not connect with drone, any way to wipe the remote and reinstall fresh firmware
Hey Tom. Follow the video I referenced instructions to the letter, and then tell me your procedure, symptoms, and where it fails. The more information I have, the more I can help.
I tried putting the flash drive in my remote and it will not accept a download from my drive,It says there is no firmware on my remote at all, I hope my thumb down on the upper right-hand corner of my screen, and it said there was no firmware detected.
Hey Tom. I'm getting conflicting information from you. At first you said your remote was blinking red and green, which tells me that your remote was PARTIALLY connected to your Inspire 1. In addition, in this state, your remote should have been able to connect to your iPad (or whatever tablet you use). Now you're telling me that your remote won't connect to your Inspire OR your iPad??? Updating the firmware on your Inspire 1 has ZERO effect on your remote. So what changed? Why was your remote working before (able to connect to iPad), but now is unable to connect to iPad? You're either giving me wrong or incomplete information. Please clarify. If you wish to send photos, you can send them to info@highflightmedia.com
I have all 3 of those cameras, too. The only issue I seem to have is with the Go App on ONE of my iPads. It's really weird. If I boot everything up, and don't get warnings about outdated firmware, this raises a flag that the Go App thinks I'm connected to an Inspire PRO, which I am not. I simply unplug the Lightning plug from the iPad, and plug it back in, and the app seems to restore to normal, which is Inspire 1. That said... Do all upgrades and/or rollbacks using the X3. I've had zero luck rolling back firmware via the X5 (running FW 1.11.xx). I've had excellent luck using the X3. I haven't tried with the Z3. That said... I can switch between cameras with little problem. Best to shut everything down and reboot in the correct order and then CONFIRM that all is kosher via the About page in the app. Please subscribe if you haven't already. I'm like 20 subscriptions short of RUclips's new requirements. Maddening.
Hey Donnie. Great video. Do you have any new info on using the "magic key" with the X5? Does it matter if I do it with the X3 and mount the X5 after? Do you have a working link to firmware versions?
Refer to the other video's comment section. Some of your questions may be answered there. I can tell you that, overall, the X3 works better for FW roll backs. Furthermore, my personal experience has been that the X5 works perfectly post roll-back with the X3. Go check out the other video, the description and the comments. If you still have more questions, pose them here and I will try to answer them. There was a LOT of data purported on that video, description and subsequent comments and answers. So I'm going to let you do the leg work....;^) If you STILL have more questions, ask them here or in the comment section of the other video. Good luck!
@@drummerdonniedotcom Hi again :) Thx for the fast replay last time. I have been reading and collecting firmware versions. I feel that I am ready to try this. My main problem is that the X5 camera i making weird noise on the Inspire after updating to v1.11. I am going to try to go back to v1.08 as you recommend. But, my bin-files are named "V01.08.01.00_AC" and not "WM610_FC550_FW_V01.08.00". Should i cange the name of the bin-file or just leave it as is?
Hello GoPro Cowboy. Unfortunately, I did NOT have very good results with the X5 OR FW v1.11. I took my bird back from v1.10 with the X3 camera. I honestly had a VERY hard time with the X5 camera. And I never was able to take my friend's Inspire 1 Pro back from v1.11...and we worked on that beast for HOURS. So I'm afraid you're kind of on your own. I've given you all the tools I have. You will have to expand from there. The good news is if it all fails, you can go back to v1.11 fairly painlessly, which is what we ultimately did with my friend's Inspire. Had it been MY Inspire, I'm sure I would've worked harder on it. But after 3 hours we both decided to call it a day. As you work, please keep good records and report back your findings. Do you have access to an X3 camera?
@@drummerdonniedotcom Thx for fast reply again 🙂 I do have an X3 as well. But I recently bought the X5 and wish to use my investment. But as is I fear the motors on the gimbal will be danaged if I use it. So I will try to downgrade with the X5 first, and if all fails I will try with the X3. But do you think I need to change yhe bin-file name?
Do all your firmware stuff with the X3. Once you get it all going and working, the X5 becomes Plug-n-Play. Just hook it up and go. I speak from experience. Regarding .bin files, changing the name will only ruin the .bin file, as now the contents won't match the file name. There are several .bin files depending on your model of Inspire and your camera. My STRONG advice is to stick with the X3 for firmware duties. Good luck. And please keep a log file.
I also only updated 1controller, I have 3. The other 2, react the same. Once I figure out what’s wrong, I’ll be sure to let you know. If you think of anything else, be sure to let me know and I’ll do the same. I think is a remote issue now. Thanks once again.
have you had many problems with the last update of inspire 1? What really changes? Do you know if there is any firmware, or tool to unlock the height limit?
It was a video I saw , unfortunately nothing is working, when I open up the DJI GO app, under the inspire 1, where it has the “camera “ view, it says “how to connect “ it does not let me into the app even. The “camera” icon doesn’t even pop up. I’m using the DJI go, not the DJI go 4 app. Is there a reason it’s not even coming up? It’s like I’m in the wrong app
The Go App is the correct app. Let's start by unplugging and rebooting everything. Unplug the USB cable, LEAVE IT unplugged and then start the iPad and then start the Go App. Even with the iPad NOT connected, you should have the option to choose which Inspire to connect to (at the top under "Connect your DJI device"). You should also have the "Camera" option. For now, leave the Inspire off. If that doesn't work, try powering up the remote THEN connecting it to the iPad via the USB cable. Make a video and publish it on your RUclips channel.
In theory, yes. That said, there are some hardware/firmware/.bin file combinations that are more persnickety than others. But, in theory, you SHOULD be able to roll back several versions if you use the correct "magic key" file. It may take some experimentation. Which bird do you have?
@@garry2280 : Don't worry about the camera. Between me and my business partner we have 3 Inspire 1's. I have the v2 and his are the v1. In addition, my buddy, Jeff, has the Inspire Pro. I have mixed and matched the X3 and X5 cameras on all 4 birds with zero problems.
I have two inspire 1 with x 3 cameras, got them used. One I just bought, upgraded firmware, now no connection, app is not recognizing bird. Remote won’t bind either. Light on remote flashes red and green rapidly. Aircraft rear light flashes yellow, then red, then back to yellow. This goes back and forth. Going to try your advice. Hope it works. I’m SUPER frustrated. I’ve upgraded a total of 4 DJI products, 3 of the up grades didn’t work ( 2 were the P 4’s) thank you for the info, will try
Hello Tom. Your red/green flashing remote LED is EXACTLY what I experienced. This should fix you up. I believe it took several tries (because of user error). But when I followed my OWN instructions to the letter, it worked. And don't forget to either downgrade your Remote to v1.6 OR leave it at v1.6. I did a whole video on that: ruclips.net/video/GmX_MESi86o/видео.html Please report back your results! And please subscribe if it works! Thank you!
did the downgrade on my inspire 1.it downgraded fine, but the x3 gimbal provides video but goes limp and displays a message in settings saying "gimbal cannot receive main controller data" along with compass error. i did an IMU calibration but it did not help. any ideas?
@@fearofpineapples: The only way to really test is to use another X3. Worth noting, the FW version of the X3 should be exactly the same as the AC firmware. So check for that.
How would you go about updating the camera and the drone? Or is it all in one. Because I did happen to notice that my drones firmware was .50 and the x3 was .40 wasn’t quite sure how to fix that though.
@@fearofpineapples The roll back .bin file automatically rolls back the camera AND the drone simultaneously, to the same FW version. If there's a mismatch, something went awry. Re-run the roll back regimen.
Hey did everything in the video to the T and didn’t work so I tried reinstalling the current firmware and now the x3 camera is non functional, fan is running but nothing else is working on the camera
If by "current firmware" you mean v1.11.xx, I can't help you. There are rumors that one can roll back from v1.11.xx, but I've yet to see it actually done and have had zero success myself with a 4 hour window I had working on a buddy's Inspire 1. I have also learned that any Inspire 1 that has gone back to DJI for repairs comes back with parts that are not backwardly compatible with legacy firmwares. So if any of these conditions pertain to you, I am afraid you're on your own. I have no way of rolling back v1.11.xx as of this writing.
Also just a quick question, when I did the Handset roleback to 1.6.0 and the Magic Key and Firmware FW_V01.08.01.00 all seems to wore well but I have annoying Error's UPDATE CONTROLLER?? This concerns me the most. The others are Update Craft Firmware, update Camera etc.
Using the "Magic Key" file (AKA: The DEBUG file), you SHOULD be able to go back several FW versions. I make no promises, as all this hacking stuff is dicey business. But it SHOULD work.
@@drummerdonniedotcom I have it sorted and running 1.6.0 and 08.01 and range is excellent, but it now does have the errors I mentioned below which seem not to cause any problems anyway.
@@glennpascoe1953: Yes, every time you turn on your drone and the app you will be met with all the update requests. These aren't "errors." It's just DJI's way of trying to get you to update constantly. Just tap the little X and enjoy flying bliss. Deny all updates. Deny all permissions. Next, roll back the Go App to v3.1.1, and you'll never get bit by this: ruclips.net/video/F7dkj6ISIgE/видео.html
Hi I know its been awhile since you made this video but I have the inspire 1 Pro with X5 and I did the firmware downgrade to the aircraft but I cant get the controller to roll back (the app says not able to do from app and to use USB) So now I think the aircraft is 1.08 but cant confirm since now I cannot connect to the drone.
@@drummerdonniedotcom Yes I went to the top right held down for 3 seconds had the options to roll back but then it says that it is not able to roll back from app and to use a usb drive. I tried to put the bin file on a usb and inserted in the controller then powered on......but nothing happens
@@jimstringer3337: Hey Jim. That doesn't look like an iPad to me. Is that a Cadence or other display? This may be the problem. Do you have an iPad you can use for the RC Roll Back?
HI all ! I had the same issue with the Inspire 1 downgrade. My FW was 1.11xxxx also.Tried to downgrade to all versions as Donnie showed, but no success. And one day , i thought maybe the problem is that my SD card ha photos on it also, and I decided to try with only the FW files ( debug empty file , .BIN file ) .I formatted the SD card with windows.Copyed the files on it.Plug in....and tadammmmm , downgrade begins,no error in LOG file ! I didnt understand why ! And later i recognized that i selected another format parameter accidently : FATex istead of default FAT32. And that was the key ! Have a nice day,and fly free after the video issues :)
It seems like it is partially connected, does not come up on my screen on my iPad, camera moves up and down, no transmission, my bird is still flashing yellow and then red and then back to yellow, I’m confused as well, gear does not go up and down.
Okay....so your remote is NOT "bricked." And it sounds like your FW update FAILED. You have to try again and follow the instructions to the letter. Use your X3 camera for the firmware update. Did your 4 motors blink red sequentially like the video shows?
I should qualify what I'm about to say by stating that I don't own an Inspire Pro, but a buddy does. I was able to roll back his FW to version 1.08 without too much problem. BUT...we could never get the gimbal to work. I BELIEVE this is because he had his Inspire Pro repaired, and the shop installed "new" hardware which is no longer compatible with legacy FW versions. All that said, the "Pro" firmware file you need is "WM610_FC550_FW_V01.08.01.00", which is different from file "WM610_FW_V01.08.01.00," which is used on the non-Pro versions. Use "Magic Key" "debug" file "WM610_FC550_FW_DEBUG," and this should work. Please let me know if this all works. NOTE: If you go through the comments, you may find answers to many of your questions. Do your homework and your research before asking me. I would really appreciate it. Best of luck to you!
When I try to update my inspire 1 it shows that the firmware is V01.12.01.54.bin. I can't find this anywhere on the internet. Can anyone relate? Just so you know the latest version on the DJI website is V01.11.01.50 and I recently bought the drone from a DJI certified seller.
In your Go app, check the "About" data for each battery. If you see inconsistent FW versions, then yes, you have to run the update for the inconsistent batteries. All your other questions should be answered in the video referenced in the "Description" section above. So simple, even a "dumb farmer" can do it....;^)
Yes, repeat the process for each battery, but without the DEBUG file. The process should be fast. That said...I don't believe you have to roll back the FW on your batteries. Camera and battery FW can be the latest. Only the bird firmware needs to be legacy. Test fly, of course. Be cautious. But it should work.
@@craig1000k3 If I recall, I DID have to do this to for one battery that was stuck on a very old FW version. Unlike the original roll back, updating the battery took only a minute or so. MOST of the batteries seem to get their upgrade FROM the bird withOUT having to run the .bin file. But one was stubborn.
Thanks a lot Dnnie you are a life saviour!!, i have a issue whit my remote its dosent connect whit my bird, and the LED blinks whit a red and green light, can any one helpme whit this trouble? Help!!!!!

@@sniper007hammer It turns out the Inspire Pro is a different animal and a little more persnickety. If you've allowed your Inspire to update to the latest Firmware, you may have crossed the point of no return. That said... I think the Pro series has hardware issues with the gimbal controller. If your X5 goes through POST, and then goes limp, I have seen this behavior before. All that said, I need more information. What FW version are you on? What version were you on before? Which FW version is your controller on? Which .bin file and "Magic Key" file did you use? Describe your camera's behavior during POST and post-POST. P.S. Please use punctuation so I don't have to work so hard to understand what you're trying to say.

Would love to give you my email address if you can accept it on RUclips.I talked to a guy from Seattle where I am from,He told me if it’s bricked it cannot be fixed, but I know better, and I don’t want to pay him money to tell me something that is not true, I would rather donate to you
I can't thank you enough, Donnie!
Glad it worked for you. And kudos to you for working through the hoops and hurdles.
hello I am trying to do it in my inspire 1 with x5r I would like you to guide me a little more
Invaluable Information for ALL Inspire owners ~ Thanks again Donnie.
Thank you, sir!
I left my inspire in a box for years due to many problems, now its time for refresh! Nice video. Thanks for the tips
To the 3 people who thumbs downed this video try again :)
If only I could downgrade the app firmware to 3.11 I’m sure it would be even better but with me being on the latest 3.1.47 app firmware my bird is actually useable again and working great!
By the way, two thumbs up for your quick response and taking the time to help another drone fan out
You are welcome.

Hi Donnie...First of all BIG BIG thanks for sharing with us your time and high knowledge....After spending one day trying to roll back from V11 my Inspire 1 Raw and unsuccessful...I think i find it :-) Your magic key must have this name file for pro and raw ...For example For X5R camera - WM610_FC550R_FW_DEBUG
For X5 camera - WM610_FC550_FW_DEBUG
For X3 camera - WM610_FW_DEBUG and the most important thing is to download the right bin for the right camera ex For X5R camera - WM610_FC550R_FW_DEBUG + WM610_FC550R_FW_V01.08.00.90.bin and not WM610_FC550_FW_V01.08.00.90.bin like i did before...That is working like a charm ...
V09 seems to be different than others about checks : WM610_FC550

Its really working dude oh god thank you...thanks a lot from bottom my heart dudd
You are very welcome.
right on bro
I hope you find this information helpful.
I’m having the same problem with my x3 camera now
After flowing your instructions my zenmuse x3 does function, but the gimbal is totally limp. Also 1 battery: Completely dead.
Thanks a lot for u dedication dude
I think have the firmware version WM610_FW_V01.11.01.50.

What now? Do I go back to the newest firmware and hope for the best or is there something missing that I need to do?

YMMV.
HI Donnie,
I have been getting bad video transmission and was relieved to find your info.
I am currently running:
Version 1.11.01.50+
App 3.1.59
Camera 1.11.1.50
Remote: 1.7.80
Thanks so much!!!!
Hello Peter. I'll address you questions and concerns here in order they appear in your comment:
Re: Current firmware...
@@idanyork: Reaching at straws, sounds like the gyro may be stuck. Give the bird a good whack to unstick the gyro. No guarantee this will work, but it might. Either that or the gyro is not connected properly. Has your bird been crashed?

@@MidAtlanticDrones Excellent. I'm glad to hear. Glad the video is helping. Best of luck to you.
Donnie,
Good looking videos.

From your vids, it appears that my path would be to put 1.08.?? (using the debug method) on the bird and 1.06.?? on the R.C. Can you speak to what the specific versions (the .??'s) I would be using?
Also, when doing the upgrades, should I be doing it FOUR times if I have four batteries?
Hope I hear back from you.
Again, GREAT videos! I think you give folks a bit of a confidence boost.

Hey Matt. I would suggest watching Part 1 of this video. If you still have questions, ask them over there and I will answer them for you.
Hi Donnie, first I would like to congratulate you for such a great channel...:)
Unfortunately I'm having the same issue with my i1 Pro.
I wish I had better news....

hi donnie,
I Installed the downgrade version 1.08 using the x3 camera and it seems to work nicely.
then i tried to downgrade the x5 to the same version and and seemed like it actually started the downgrade but at one point the camera went completely limp after running the update for quite a while and seemed stuck.

If you go to the Inspire 1 forum (inspirepilots), reach out to a guy named Brian Fist (that's not his real name). He knows more about this stuff than anybody alive. He may be able to help.
Will this work on an inspire 2
What if you have multiple cameras that you use for the same bird? I have an x 3, Z3 and X5 that I use at different times
Good luck!
@@drummerdonniedotcom Hi again :)
Thx for the fast replay last time.
@@drummerdonniedotcom Thx for fast reply again 🙂
I do have an X3 as well.

I haven't tried to unlock the 1500' height limit yet.
So if I understand right with this ( magic key file ) you don’t have to roll back each firmware you can just put on the firmware you want?
In theory, yes. That said, there are some hardware/firmware/.bin file combinations that are more persnickety than others. But, in theory, you SHOULD be able to roll back several versions if you use the correct "magic key" file. It may take some experimentation. Which bird do you have?

did the downgrade on my inspire 1.it downgraded fine, but the x3 gimbal provides video but goes limp and displays a message in settings saying "gimbal cannot receive main controller data" along with compass error. i did an IMU calibration but it did not help. any ideas?
This sounds like a hardware issue I have heard about many times before. Almost guarantee it's one of the ribbon cables is loose.
That’s the weird thing. Before I started messing with anything physically I upgraded firmware and it was perfectly fine once again.
Hi Donnie, Will this work jumping backwards 2 or 3 updates or do you have to roll back 1 update at a time? Cheers

Okay....so your remote is NOT "bricked." And it sounds like your FW update FAILED. You have to try again and follow the instructions to the letter. Use your X3 camera for the firmware update. Did your 4 motors blink red sequentially like the video shows?
hey donnie how can I downgrade my inspire 1 pro with x5 firmware version, because im having video signal issues easily? thanx

In your Go app, check the "About" data for each battery. If you see inconsistent FW versions, then yes, you have to run the update for the inconsistent batteries.
All your other questions should be answered in the video referenced in the "Description" section above. So simple, even a "dumb farmer" can do it....;^)
Thanks a Zillion bro , right on
How can i downgrade the rest of my batteries? is it necessary? Do i have to repeat this process with the rest of them? thankss
