- Evan Rachel Wood discusses her HBOMax documentary and explains to Drew how she came to terms with being a survivor of sexual abuse.
Evan Rachel Wood’s new documentary Phoenix Rising on HBO Max captures how she transformed her trauma into state law. Evan helped co-write the bill The Phoenix Act, which extends the statute of limitations for domestic violence in California. It was unanimously passed and signed into law in January 2020.
Brian Warner (aka Marilyn Manson) has denied ever abusing Wood and says their relationship was consensual.
He recently filed a lawsuit against her alleging, among other things, conspiracy, defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

I experienced exactly what she is describing here about triangulation. The whole thing was a horrible mess. I wasn't physically abused but by the end I was so emotionally drained I was a husk of my former self. Takes years to get over these insane relatioships.

This entire interview perfectly sums up my entire childhood. I'm 34 and finally seeing someone about it. The PTSD this results in is so crippling, and in a way that has personally taken me years to recognize the effects of.
This world is sick and ugly and no one deserves that. It's definitely tough because it's hard to wrap your head around it yourself and feel shame. Should never be ashamed though and only be a stronger and better person for it.

I was in an abusive relationship myself before finding a lovely man and got married. The thing is i dont give up easily and for me i accept that nobody is perfect and I made a decision to be with this person, accept his flaws. Only after breaking up with him and experiencing the healthy relationship that I realised he was abusive. For other people that lucky to not be in that situation may say things like, why didnt you leave the first time, why stay for many years, why only come out after and not during the abuse. The truth was I was ashamed to admit it, my friends and family thought I was in this wonderful relationship, while they didnt know I got constantly being screamed at for not doing things his way, as simple as the way I dressed. After ending the relationship, I was really broken, yet now thinking about it, it was the best decision I made in life to not be with that person anymore.
People asking why is an extremely powerful question. I was in an abusive relationship and I only get what happened instead of why. But why is important because it reveals you to yourself. Why did you allow it to happen? I was immature… I didn’t respect myself enough. That question is actually essential in order to grow from abusive relationships. Don’t think the question is asked only because of ignorance. Try to find a silver lining in the question.

Wood broke with her husband back in 2014 because he wasn't "very edgy" like she was. WTH does that mean? The LA DA has been sitting on the police investigation because there is no "there" there, and he is afraid of the push back if he files no charges against Manson. Manson's named accusers and their stories have been dropping like flies, and Wood was forced to give up custody of her son because of her bizarre behavior and clearly false stories about Manson that she was feeding him.

I bought that film on DVD years ago as a minor having no idea what it was about. It was in a dollar bin. I saw teen girls on the cover and the word "Pretty" in the title...I was so naive and young. That was a VERY scandalous little film.
I have never liked Marylin Manson and have always been a fan of Evan Rachael Wood, but something it off. Their is something about her in these interviews shes been doing that doesn’t seem quite right. I would hate to think it’s not true because that coming out and proven could effect victims in the future.

Yeah, sorry, but the needle scratch moment for me was seeing the evidence that Evan Rachel Wood forged a letter purported to have been sent to her by an FBI agent and then later, after unilaterally making the decision to move from California to Tennessee with her son, filed that letter in a court application to stop her ex-partner Jamie Bell from having unrestricted access to his own son. The evidence for this is compelling enough to require an explanation from Wood before anything at all she says can be believed.

I saw your same post on another video. I’m not familiar with the info about the fbi report but how does that explain Marilyn Mansons assistant and other men on the tour corroborating her experience and saying that everything she said happened plus more? One thing doesn’t cancel out another. This is not an either or world, just look at wave particle duality in physics. It doesn’t erase something from happening because something else happens. That would be an immature stunted way to view the world.

True. She was rarely in the same city as him through most of their relationship between him touring and her filming various movies and her mother and brother were around all the time. They were even broken up for a year in the middle. Although I can certainly see the relationship as toxic it’s really hard to match what she says to reality. She also clearly likes to slander and obsess about her ex husband publicly, she is an unstable person. Take anything she says with a grain of salt unless there is hard proof behind it or direct witnesses on the record.

@@StellaSoStupid there's 16 women that testify about his abuse towards them personally, text messages from manson where he threatens to kill her, videotapes that show him threatening to kill her, pictures of bruises, diary entries and two men that has worked with manson has spoken up about the abuse they witnessed towards evan when they were on tour and multiple people on the set of the music video that has come forward saying how evan was intoxicated and treated badly by manson on set and that it was all very uncomfortable. And statistics say that the likelihood of being falsely accused is incredibly low, while the chances of being abused and raped by a male partner is not at all out of the ordinary. She also currently gets death threats daily by people protecting manson. People threatening to kill her and her entire family, including her young son.
And I'm not "coming at you", I simply want you to look into why you feel the need to protect the man that most likely tortured multiple women. Have you yourself done something similar? Have you yourself gone through something like it and refuse to admit that it was abuse? He doesn't deserve your support.

Yes, she is describing what people who went through abuse go through, but her own story doesn't add up and the criminal things she has done to Manson will be going to court. A lot of Me2 leaders have now been found to have falsely accused as part of trying to grow the movement. Some of the male victims were not famous. Her faking being an FBI agent and falsifying FBI documents and SWATing Manson and trying to plant kiddie prn on his computer remotely all make her someone I can't possibly believe.

This is actually the first things I've watched with Evan talking about this. Initial impression, having lived through mental and emotional abuse, I am feeling a vibe that what she is saying is genuine. She seems to have a passion to spread awareness about abuse itself. Notice, she's not really trash talking MM, she is talking about abusers. She said "people like him" and that language says to me that she wants others to be aware of warning signs for toxic people.

The legal system very rarely supports victims in these kinds of cases. Its always the victim who becomes on trial. Sure she may have agreed to things at the time she now sees a lot differently, that doesn't mean Manson isn't abusive or manipulative, it doesn't mean he didn't target women he could get to go along for a while, it doesn't mean he's not a predator and a person who hurts people and then says "no you liked it" when they finally admit how much it hurt. Cancel culture can be a problem but defending a guy like that?? Of all the people you want to save from being cancelled, he's some of yall's favorite?! To each their own. I hope no one you know goes through that but have some thought and empathy for those who do. So many victims never speak out at all, accusing the victim of lying is such a distraction from the work the lawyers will do and finding the actual truth. Thats how it is in any domestic violence or assault case, no matter if it's a celebrity or not. Think about if you knew this happened to a friend of yours and everyone accused them of lying about it. Regardless of what happened in this situation, generally to go through real violent trauma and then be told you're lying is a much worse situation than being false accused. Both will deal with media fallout that could ruin their careers but only one actually experiences the media fallout AND the actual trauma. That's why people say to believe survivors and let the courts determine the facts of the case.
