To be fair, he said "with supressors in mind" which indicates that he wants to be able to add and remove the suppressor without having the more pronounced barrel sag from a pencil barrel. I'm not knowledgeable enough to know how big the difference is between a pencil barrel and a thicker profile barrel in that regard though.
@@randymagnum143 That's actually a problem I've always had with this project. I can get behind the overall weight reduction but if stoner was alive today he would be designing a rifle for a world with increasing use of suppressors and night vision. This rifle can't really use either effectively.
To be fair gentlemen, by the time you are using these rifles for two legged eradication..... suppressors will not be needed.... not to mention that suppressing a 223/5.56 is a waste of time and money and nothing more than posturing. Stoner designed his rifle for military purposes and at that time suppressors were not so widely used as they are today. As Ian and Carl stated in this video and in previous concept videos about the WWSD they are following a specific set of rules laid out by stoner. Different barrel profiles would negate the whole principal and balance of what they started out to accomplish. And good for them for sticking to their guns and staying true to their principals and not letting anyone bastardize their rifle.

Just have the stripped lower shipped to your FFL and build it yourself. The stripped lower by itself is 100% legal, and any moron with a screwdriver set and a punch can put together a lower. If you absolutely have to go that route, you could always drill out the one they install and replace it yourself with a fresh one without the epoxy, but at that point it really would have been simpler to just build the whole lower yourself.
Ian Karl and Russell, now that the Brownells have released uppers and lowers for their BRN180, and the likelihood that alternatives will pop up here and there, is there any plans in the future of the WWSD project to put together an AR180 style build? Are there enough advantages in a folding stock design to seriously consider the project at all? If so, given that the 180 design puts less stress on the lower and should be easier to design, would KEArms work on a polymer lower for that project also?
Awesome project! I am curious if any of Jim Sullivan's design upgrades have made into this rifle? I would also love to see it chambered in 6.8, the direction our Military seems to be headed, and in 6.5 Grendle, the direction they should have gone.
Will there be a model of the WWSD rifle for ban states, as the current model doesn't have an adjustable stock, bayonet lug, I image that with little modification such a model could be produced
The problem is there's no such thing as "little modification" when it comes to injection molding. As Russ pointed out, making small cuts in the polymer both potentially weakens it past tolerances and drastically increases scrap rate, which lowers yield. And that doesn't include the added cost of adding the modification tooling to the production line. You could make a separate mold to specifically handle those modifications, but new injection molds tend to cost $20K each or more.
@@patrickdertz9110 True, I just like not having to worry about repainting it if it gets scuffed up or it having a weird texture or the color looking dull. I am also very lazy.

I hope the Faxon carbon fiber handguards get back in stock sometime soon. There are no suitable alternatives, are there? Like I know Lancer makes some, but they're heavier than Faxon's.
I'm looking at the Brownell"s website and i see three options for pre-ordering the lower. Stripped, Complete Mil-Spec, and "KE ARMS LLC - AR-15 MK3 COMPLETE LOWER RECEIVERS AMBIDEXTROUS POLYMER" . The last one lists the SLT-1 Trigger and Ambi selector switch in the description. It doesn't mention the Ambi bolt release or the buffer assembly. Are these parts also included in this package?
The ambi lower includes SLT-1 trigger, ambi selector and mag catch. It does not include the PDQ lever or Silent capture spring system. If it is not specifically listed it is not included.
I hate to compare something you guys made to ATI, and i know you designed for it, but i'm curious with something like an out of battery discharge how well a polymer lower would protect your hands. Obviously thats not an ideal scenario, but there is something to be said for aluminum potentially doing a better job of absorbing that blast should something catastrophic happen.

Are there enough advantages in a folding stock design to seriously consider the project at all? If so, given that the 180 design puts less stress on the lower and should be easier to design, would KEArms work on a polymer lower for that project also?
No, that is not on the radar whatsoever.
Awesome project!
I am curious if any of Jim Sullivan's design upgrades have made into this rifle?
I would also love to see it chambered in 6.8, the direction our Military seems to be headed, and in 6.5 Grendle, the direction they should have gone.
Did anyone else catch the name of the company making the retro looking BRN-180 stock they mentioned? Sounded like "V5" but I couldn't tell for sure.
I couldn't hear it either.
After listening again I think it's "B5" as in b5systems.com - though they don't show the stock on their website (yet).
If they made a wolf grey version I would die happy, still buying one though after I turn 21.
Same, I'd really like a grey option.
You could always paint it later on
@@patrickdertz9110 And I very likely will.
@@patrickdertz9110 True, I just like not having to worry about repainting it if it gets scuffed up or it having a weird texture or the color looking dull. I am also very lazy.
Just duracoat it - my FDE has held up for two years on top of a blem black lower.
Man what an amazing venture. Good job guys!!!
More info on the BRN180 stock from B5 would be nice.
Thank you Brownells for teaming up with Inrangetv on this!
Brownells has become my go to for anything I need. Will never shop at midway again!
I really want just the lower, I back ordered it at brownells... when will these be shipping from brownells?
From what I have heard sometime in the 2nd quarter
I used the message feature on Brownells and the guy told me end of March but idk
That seemed to me to be missing from their discussion
K e arms will be selling the lowers by themselves
@@i7s3a7a3c yeah, their website said not shipping til October when I looked there
Congrats guys!! I’m really pulling for this project!!
Will there be an 80% version of this lower-stock-grip combo?
I hate registering anything, and I own a dremel.
No i asked ke arms themselves and they would have atf issues. it would be a perfect host and if it was like the p80 it would be sold out in seconds. sad i hope they change their minds soon
@rebelredeye You watched a gun vidio. You are already on a list without "registering" any thing.
@@DerekIcelord Ever filled out a 4473? Those are kept for years and ATF can request those whenever they want.
Is that Mossberg lady in the background?!?
I could defanintly heard Deviant Ollam in the background.
You are correct! He posted on his channel that he recorded for them!
I hope the Faxon carbon fiber handguards get back in stock sometime soon. There are no suitable alternatives, are there? Like I know Lancer makes some, but they're heavier than Faxon's.
I just got a V7 Hyperlight Magnesium handguard and it's awesome, it's like 6oz including the barrel nut
@@HariboStarman Thanks, might have to look into this. I imagine it'll get hot really fast but it's even lighter than the Faxon, that's something.
@@SinistralRifleman Thank you! I appreciate the reply.
Congrats guys on your project becoming a product!
Any plans to add green to the color choices in the future?
It's funny that they mentioned H&K. I wonder if they considered drilling holes in the stock to retain the take down pins during cleaning.

“Paul was visibly shaken. We checked him for injuries and fortunately there was nothing major. He had some small scratches on his face and a fragment from the barrel extension in his inner forearm. He was wearing Oakley Half-Jacket glasses and while there was no visible impact on the glasses, Paul now uses glasses with more coverage for shooting.”

I cant wait to save up for the WWSD2020
im interested in that retro stock for the BRN180, cant find it
And of course he said the name of the company that makes it so fast that I couldn't make it out. It's either B5, P5, or V5 but I can't be sure.
@@peteranderson037 i believe its B5, as they're a manufacturer that already produces stocks, grips etc. But theres nothing on their website, or on brownells about this thing soooo..
It looks like its part of that lower. The hinge is probably milled into the back of the receiver. Would be cool if it was attached with a pic rail like so many other companies have been using.
@@willswim4pie no its a picattinny attachment on the back of the lower. can take a look at the lower on brownells site, not to mention he specifically states it at 1:24
Way cool!! Is there a link to buy that ultralight polymer lower rifle
Not online yet in Europe, no link for me to the WWSD2020 to see and I got an unfilled one on my permit open for it with a 2-round mag :D
Regarding the takedown pins: Please consider adding holes into the stock to store the pins in, like HK does!
The holes are already in the lower receiver, no need for extra holes.
I can’t wait to buy the WWSD rifle
Awesome
really cool to see the cav arms lower getting an update. I cant wait to pick one up, I always regretted selling the one I had gotten from Sean.
Will you make a lead-lined/filled version for the people who want to feel the weight? Just like an airsoft gun or Chinese watch with lead weights in it to make it feel expensive for the postmodernists from Ukraine?
im very pleased for you all. good hard work, hope it pays off. im sure it will.
Are the mag wells going to be sized to fit larger magazines I.E. the magpul 6.8 spc or dedicated. 458 bushmaster mags?
InRangeTV: that's not a gun. This... is a gun.
Just got 2nd e mail stating it has shipped 3 to 5 day shipping. I ordered 12/2 and it shipped 12/3.
Is there any concern about the nylon heating up and distorting after a few mag dumps?
The lower never really comes into contact with any heat.
Ordered my black lower today. They are in stock. I ll post back when it is in hand to share delivery times. The updated photos look good. Don't forget Steyr and Glock paved the way for non metal firearms.
Just got shipping invoice . It is in transit soon. I ll post when my FFL receives. I am in Aurora Colorado btw
Availability is another benefit to this lol
I read they take 65 seconds to make 1 plus deburring ops. When these take off it will rock the gun world. Hope I can get no 2 next week
Couldn't they do a version of the lower that accepts the magpul length of pull adaptor plates? (Or something like it)
MrNpc81 it would require completely different mold inserts and welder inserts. So no not really without investing another $150k+
@@SinistralRifleman the polymer really is a whole new thing isnt it. Well anyway I wish you guys the best for the project - I intend to get a lower!
Would be cool to see a close up of the rifle and all the parts.
1:57 WWSD2020, before that they go about other brownells product
Are they going to make a traditional AR-180 meaning stock and hand guard
Would a WWSD AR pistol be a possibility in the future?
are there any longevity issues with pencil barrels? im quite new to firearms, so i have no idea what kind of wear and tear happens in the action or through the barrel over time.
its just a thinner lighter barrel. not something you want to do full auto out of but for regular shooting a pencil is fine.
Oh nice! Shot show always has some neat stuff
