One thing that came to mind on the subject of the sighting system. During my army service we used red dots with that very same mounting mechanism and with it being on the left side of the gun it is really easy to catch on your webbing etc. accidentally opening it and dropping your sight to the ground without you noticing, two guys lost their red dots in my platoon that way and we had to all go and search for them for hours in the forest.
So I would either suggest rotating the red dot mount around to the other side so the lever is on the right side or using a different mounting system, this is especially important if you do not have backup sights.

They're in the final stages before mass manufacture and release and it's all the little pieces just coming together. X supplier using Y product on Z tooling with A second line processes and B QA and C paperwork and D contract with retailer, with incremental issues at every single step. If you've ever spent time around manufacturing, this is 100% normal.

Just a thought about flash removal. Design all exterior flash surfaces with a flat bevel from .25 to .38 wide. Let it flash over this bevel on molding. CNC it in one pass back to the designed flat during the same process as hole drilling and other operations. Molded margins look cheap. Period. End paragraph.
You stated the material is very robust, so any manual method will be impractical. By designing a flat from the start, you eliminate the molded look (material is assumed to be 100% fused without porosity) and have a clean, smooth surface. Especially handy for the charging handle to glide on.
    Keep up the great work!

Great Show. I would like to see more slow motion video. Maybe to see a slow motion of the new lower on a clamped bench rest compared to a original build. This would show any Flexing of the lower maybe? Has there any testing on the new lower when it is exposed to prolonged sunlight?

Love the job you are doing with the WWSD project. I already have a FDE lower pre-ordered :) I would love to see some durabilty testing of the lower, maybe not pushups on the magazine, but some droping on concrete and such would be neat to see. The truck test would probably be a big hit on RUclips.

Give some to a platoon of Army or Marine Infantry for a couple weeks for durability testing.
If it's not broken or pregnant by then, you have a solid lower receiver.

Looks great! Teaming with Brownells was good too. Are there any concerns with solvents for cleaning. Hoppes, gun scrubber, brake cleaner? I know people that use these on their AR. Any solvents to avoid would be a good thing to put into any instruction you put with it.

I received an FDE version of the KP-15 recently. It had a bit of flashing on the top of the stock portion that I didn't like. After a quick pass with a Dremel and some sand paper, I cleaned it with some CRC brake cleaner. That did no visible damage. I would avoid acetone though. That stuff dissolves ABS plastic and quite a lot of other polymers. I was very sparing with the brake cleaner. I sprayed a rag and used that for wiping down. It evaporates very quickly. I wasn't willing to spray it directly onto the stock.

It's insane, how huge the aftermarket is for these things. STILL people are coming out with brand new stuff for them. There isn't a single part that could break or wear out that someone, somewhere isn't making replacements for - often even better than the original. It's crazy thinking about how old the gun is, and we're just scratching the surface of its lifespan as a mainstay, household name for any gun owner. Long live the ScArY black rifle the media loves to hate.

One of my favorite AR's is a palmetto premium upper on a aero lower with a A1 stock on it. This will make one of my favorite guns lighter.

It's been brought up in the patreon discord and at least the complete rifles will eventually make it to Brownells Europe. But it will be a bit before Brownells gets there.

I'm not going to do a full-on WWSD build but I am planning to get a lower to try with my BCM lightweight midlength upper and if I like that I might get a lightweight 14.5 P&W midlength upper for a sort of squished/shortened M16A1 inspired build.

Also, would it be possible to buy a non-finished lower? That would make a sick A1 rifle build. Yeah, it's not exactly the same with the fence and whatnot. But, I think it would be an awesome build for that.

    • @119fatty

That's what I'm thinking about doing, just A2 instead of A1, or some kind of bastard upper.
