Kip and Reb are just like Jon and Richie. Those big chorus harmonies make those songs. Paul has great vocals too. The talent in this band is like an all star band.
This band was a band that had some of the best musicians on the planet. This was no bullshit L.A. hair band. Yes the songs were typical for the times but this was no typical band period!
Winger should have been sooooooo much bigger and more famous than they were. Kip's vocals are unreal and incredible. Still to this day in 2017 he still sounds great.
The main reason why Winger didnt hit the top because they hit late in the 80s when the hair bands were fading out.If Winger would have came out in the early 80s they would been as big as Ratt ect...
With some of their stuff there are cool rhythmic nuances from a musical standpoint that are cool to listen to. I think KW had once said something like, "We can play a lot of other bands' songs but not a lot of other bands can play ours" and I think that is, to a point, true. Each individual in that band can so stand on their own and they just happen to gel as a band for whatever reason. Saw them live in 2017 and after a brief encounter after the show they still seemed to be living the dream of just playing music for a living. Likable music and likable people.

Winger was and is still amazing. Their talent was no doubt overlooked. Funny how Metallica ripped them apart but yet Metallica probably couldn’t even read a note on a scale. Kip blows James hetfield away anyday of the week. And reb would shred the shit out of Kirk.
Winger were and are a HUGELY talented band, but because of the "Hairspray" image I think a lot of people wrote them off as merely a "glam band". Not that there's anything wrong with that if that's your goal, but Winger were far far more than that. I do think the image didn't help, cool though it was lol.
