    He’s an incredibly smart guy (Cambridge Uni) pretending to be stupid, which lulls guests into a false comfort zone, then he unloads a killer, often existential question, again phrased as if the daft lad. It’s kinda what he did with Borat and others, but when this lot was filmed nobody knew who he was. Genius.

    • @CW-ke8rk
      @CW-ke8rk 2 года назад

      For real. As Borat, he pretends to be racist, that hates the Jews(even though Sacha is Jewish) and tricks these people. Makes their true racist selves raise to the surface to come out. As Bruno he goes to southern states and kisses another man. Their h phobic selves come out. Genius indeed.

    Sacha (as Ali G) was a regular on The 11 O’Clock Show in the late 90s. A very young Ricky Gervais also got his break on that show.
    Because no one knew who Ali G was, he was getting interviews with UK politicians, academics and celebrities who all took themselves way too seriously and didn’t get the joke. He then had his own show called Da Ali G Show (also featuring an early Borat) which you might be able to find clips for. He caught the attention of Madonna and was in her video for “Music”. And the rest is history. Great reaction - I haven’t seen some of those clips in a long time 😊

    Ali G was his breakthrough character on British tv. He became more or less an overnight sensation. He was everywhere for few years. He had to take the character to America because all the British politicians, scientists, academics and experts knew who he was... :) Bruno was his next big character, before Borat.

    For 2 lads who supposedly read the comments, I don't know why Spencer still thinks Council estates are the equivalent of trailer parks? Considering the last time he said that, not to long ago, there were loads of us in the comments explaining the 2 are nowhere near similar. Council estates are just areas where normal homes (made with brick & mortar) are for rent from a local council. What we call trailer parks, are caravan parks. The biggest majority of Brits live in council estates, we don't live in trailers.

    ali g is such an old character and the ali G movie and show i think is also older than Bo selecta which i think was in or around 2002. The ali G movie is really good too. there's also shows like rita sue and bob too and kevin and perry go large you'll love.

    You need to react to him interviewing David and Victoria Beckham LOL Sasha started on the 11 ‘0 clock Show in the 90’s. Ali G character was based on typical white boys... who were/acted “street” in certain areas, the place Staines, where the character’s supposed to be from (in Greater London, usually not from the inner cities) was one of these towns. They acted a little bit gangster (but they weren’t) into tracksuits and gold chains, into drum n bass/jungle music. Who enjoyed smoking weed and usually drove Ford escorts suped up with big bass speakers, in their car (vibrating with bass as they drove past) Back in the 90’s I believe Sasha called them white boys acting Black but that might not be very PC to say that now lol. Nobody cared about that back in the day, everyone despite their colour thought the character was hilarious. I’m sure everyone who was into the early to late 90’s rave culture met an Ali G 😂 I met many, ESPECIALLY from Staines lmao... It was perfect timing, for this character!

    Gotta check you on 17:24
    The Show's Premise is to TROLL people, the experts are not supposed to find it funny. If they start suspecting it is trolling they will either leave or play along and it stop being funny or Ali G persona stops being effective. The floater bit gives you a great example of how Ali G digs in to his persona and never breaks, to a point where the poor professor genuinely believes it's serious and Ali G is not happy with him.

    As commented below Ali G is a Genius, and Graduate of Cambridge University. His ability to dumb down to pander to these intelligent minds is amazing to watch. All of the characters he does and any question he asks is addressing an issue or an injustice which he is well read in, be it racism, feminism, antisemitism or any other ism.

    You should watch him interview Posh (Posh Spice) and Becks (David Beckham) it's super funny. Ali-G wasn't a journalist to start with he was just a character but when he went to the US he used Ali-G to interview people and no one knew it was a character it was long before Borat. When Ali G met the Beckhams | Comic Relief - RUclips they did it for comic relief watch it

    9:10 You need to see Brasseye - Drugs episode, .......they parody DARE in that (BrassEye = very edgy late 90's parody news show, hilarious, brilliant writing, very on the edge, was critically loved and also hated, the show generated more complaints and also more letters of approval from the general public, than any other show in uk history)

    You should just watch the full clips from these scenes, there are no best bits - it's all great :) Ali G started on the 11 O'Clock Show (same as Ricky Gervais), he was "the voice of the youth" and went around interviewing people with the angle that they were getting a youth perspective on various topics. He had to change character when Ali G got too famous and people started knowing who he was.. (much like Borat's problem now)
