Actually, I think you are being responsible in your buying/wearing habits. You do take great joy in buying for the fandoms you love. So, you willingly choose to save money by wearing clothes for a long time and by wearing simple makeup. That is a very reasonable choice to make. Do not feel pressured to put on a show wearing difference items if you are happy as you are. If you do decide to invest in higher quality clothing that lasts for longer, then DO YOUR RESEARCH. Many many manufactures lie about their products. So, it is important not to be mislead by hype or marketing or some other influencers opinions.
Thanks for the heads up on the manufacturer part! I really know nothing when it comes to fashion/clothing, but it’s always good to do research for reputable companies
I’m 63 years old and have learned that vanity has value. I use it as a tool to motivate myself to exercise. I want to change my perception of what it means to grow old.
I would also suggest thrifting ~~ I once bought a jacket from a thrift shop for a couple pounds (Like £5 ish) and I wear it everyday! It’s been about 3 years and it shows no signs of wear and tear~~!
don't worry, I'm the same. I'm practicily a minimalist, or am trying to based on some videos I have watched. The only thing I am not a minimalist for is for my anime, manga and pokemon collections. Like that's where a majority of my money goes because I'm into that stuff. As well as for art supplies. But when it comes to my appearance, clothings, I don't have much, nor do I wear makeup...like at all. I'm all natural.
I really sugest thrifting for clothes. Its cheap and you can find great things if you search for it, even brand new with the tag still on. You can also try different things and experiment with style. If you don't like it after a view months you can return it without being burdend with it being expensive or sentimental. This really lightend up my relationship with clothing, I have just one closet with some stable pieces i wear for years and pieces that cycle out in a view months
I'm the same! I haven't bought any clothes for two years and still wear stuff from elementary school since it fits. All my new clothes are old stuff my sister didn't want. But my room is full of fandom posters and wall scrolls. Merch is the only thing I spend money on and I consider myself a maximalist since I fill my space with things I like, I maximize the amount of merch I own for the room I have if that makes sense?
I'm pretty similar in terms of spending less on clothing etc. I love charity shops, so the only things I buy new are underwear, socks, and shoes. I have a few accessories and some jewellery, but I'm more likely to buy accessories for my nuis than myself! My Mum always buys me toiletries, snacks, accessories, and socks for my birthday/Christmas etc which also helps me budget more for my hobbies ^_^ (Also I don't drink alcohol or smoke, which is a huge money saver). I found that limiting myself to a specific colour pallet when I moved house really helped curb my spending on home goods - if it doesn't fit into my colour scheme even if it's the cutest thing ever, I won't buy it. I also limited how many oshis I'm allowed so I could focus specifically on only the ones I feel a deep connection to - I prefer collections with a very curated feel/one character only.
Im the same way, im still a new ish collector but now that i have big budget items i want to purchase i no longer buy make up or cosplays or even new clothes cause all that money can go to the big items i wish to buy!
omg I'm just like you! Except that I do rarely purchase brand named jacket because it actually tied to my fandom's collection. But like, I still have a shirt I bought in 2014 and still wear it-
tip: for the times you do wear makeup, you can just get free sample sizes. airports and drugstores have them a lot. just in case you'll want some foundation or something for a rare event, you can always have a small sachet of it ready without committing to large portions of makeup ♡ i have a somewhat similar lifestyle except i don't even spend money on merch hihi
Invest in some Levis jeans! The more you wear them the better they look, they're timeless and well made. If you don't want to pay full price you can also find some second hand.
For me buying clothes is something I hate because it’s money that could go towards my interests.. but I buy in bulk, I see a sweater (decent price, not 50+ at all) that I could feel comfy and enjoy wearing, ask my bf opinion (if he likes it it’s a bonus but I get it anyway LOL) and pick 2 colours of the sweater that I’d like then buy about 3-4. For pants I just buy packs of 3 jogger pants. I look presentable since it’s plainer designs and I can usually wear them for most occasions. Sometimes I do think it’s good to splurge on a graphic tee, but I usually ask for those for my birthday too :)) good luck!
On the topic of clothes, do it like this old guy I know: Go to a high end clothing store in a style you like, and buy all the clothing items from that store. Everything will match and everything will be the size you need and you can have multiples of the same design saved up if you really liked it. The old guy told me he spends about $5k on these clothing items, but he only needed to refresh his wardrobe every decade. This method worked for him and saved him headaches on styling and organizing. He was a sweet and practical old man.
Nah, I don’t look down on anyone for their financial status or I’d be a hypocrite, but I used “homeless person” to describe my attire for the lack of a better word. I have poor vocabulary, my bad lol
@@blbubble First of all I'm sorry that happened to you. That should not happen, especially from family members that should care about us. I am glad you understand your word choice was poor and that you can admit this. My latest response was directed at the person adding nothing to this conversation. We can all subconsciously hold racist, classist, homophobic, etc ideas even if we belong to the certain group being discriminated against, because our society inherently holds these beliefs. And it is good to examine those things when they pop up. I understand you meant no harm and we can all make mistakes (I do too).
@@blbubble Were you able to read my last comment? Because I told you I understood, and I had hoped you understood. As I said before the correct term is "unhoused". I am not saying you are classist, I am saying the way you phrased things at the start of this video is a classist statement. I understand that you didn't mean it that way, but that doesn't change the literal meaning of the words you said. I was more than happy to move on from this, because you said you understood it was poorly phrased. As a marginalized person yourself you must understand that words have power and saying "it's not that deep" doesn't help the conversation. Like I said we all make mistakes, can be clumsy in the way we phrase things. We can admit our faults and just move on.

I think you and I are the same person lol. I still wear the stuff I used to wear when I was 12 and I am 25 now.
Omg glad to know I’m not the only one!! 🙈💗

You can turn your graphic tees inside out when you wash them, it helps preserve the graphic for longer!

Random question: where do you get your merch? 😊
Online lol

If you're interested in making clothing last longer, id recommend looking into darning and clothing repair
I'm excited to see your self improvement journey, you have to update us when you improve your wardrobe ❤

Yeah i am a short queen too 😅. A lot of people mistake me for a 12 year old girl but i am 19 now not 12.
Haha I’m 25 but I can still go for 16! It’s a struggle sometimes 😂
@@blbubble haha yeah unfortunately 😂😅

High end is low quality now though. If you have that much money, just go to an atelier. You have to tailor prêt-a-porter anyway 🤷♀️
😂❤
The moment I see those Chinese Danmei Merch I clicked!!
that is so xie lian coded
Just so you're aware the politically correct term is "unhoused people". I feel a little sad that you seem to look down on them.

You are online WAYYYY too often.
@@laf2602 Probably. I fail to see what that has to do with classism though.
