What I’ve noticed is that many people rush to get their Class 2 license, driven by adrenaline, and end up buying a Class 2 bike only to regret it later. They struggle to afford the installments and maintenance, leading them to sell the bike after just a few months. It feels like such a waste to go through the experience only to give it up. Personally, I’d rather stick to my Class 2A bike for its cost-effectiveness in Singapore.
The government wants us to use the public transport, but by my metric, the public transport is not good enough. Let's say I want to go to Tuas in the early peak hours from Woodlands, using my motorcycle I could probably be there in about 20 - 25 mins from my door step. 20 - 25 mins I will probably still be on Woodlands MRT platform waiting for the MRT. That's a lot of extra sleep I get using a motorcycle vs an MRT. My metrics are very simple, from my house to anywhere within Singapore, public transport should not take more than 1.5-2x longer as compared to by private vehicle. As for getting a class 2 bike, sometimes it's the safety aspect 😂. It allows you to accelerate out of danger, especially if you have large trucks cutting into your lane.
I find that it's easier to modify bikes nowadays. LTA had updated their website as to what is allowed unlike last time where the vehicle inspectors have the last say. Changes in vehicle colour can easily be updated through the website. Contrary to popular belief, you can still get a full system on certain models. Chances are high if the pipe manufacturer homologates the exhaust system to Euro specifications. Just that the cost may put people off especially COE is only 10 years. What you mentioned about different race perspectives on motorcycles, I observe it too. When you speak to a Chinese person about it, they will mention safety and how dangerous riding is as compared to other races where they mentioned the convenience and fun factor of riding.
Boomer VICOM inspectors, are pretty notorious for throwing the list on the LTA website out the door and go with whatever they've already always thought was correct in my experience. But you don't have any avenue to refute them anyway other than to just rectify it or wait until another inspector comes along that is fine with it. The perils of outsourcing inspection work to private companies!
I got class 2 and only ride 2x 600cc and 1300cc before downgrade back to 400cc...Maintenance and installment one thing but if you're always ride in SG it's kinda of wasted furthermore i have car...So be wise with your choice...By the way my riding license is over 30 years
not exactly true. it all depends what is the purpose the rider is doing with it's bike. Many delivery riders do have larger class license, but they doesn't mean they're getting the largest bike possible for their job. I'm currently riding 1200cc because i'm doing touring, otherwise, i'll just settle with a 2A scooter.

i ride in Vietnam and my full face helmet is not that much hotter than one of those half helmets. It's a lot more comfortable too.
