Too many expensive models that are no use to the market. Why do you think Chinese bikes, and Royal Enfields etc are selling like hot cakes because they're affordable. Bikes like Harleys/BMWs etc have priced themselves out the marketplace.
It is true! I bought a used Moto Guzzi for $2500. The new ones only offer a unrealistic price. They have done it to themselves. Where can a young person buy an inexpensive motorcycle to learn on? Royal Enfield is more reasonable.....Times are tight and most folks consider motorcycles optional. The folks that ride motorcycles every single day are few and far between. Every manufacturer needs a motorcycle that can go 50mph for under 3,000 and another that will do 100mph for 5,000. The inexpensive one to learn on and trot around town and the faster one for highway speeds and that trip on a motorcycle you always knew you wanted to take.
Manufacturers ambition doesn’t match the rapidly shrinking wallet’s of their customer. In Britain the roads are no longer a pleasure to ride and the chance of theft is increasing by the month. Many of us are buying cheap Chinese and Indian bikes which aren’t as well built, but are affordable, reliable, have all the gadgets and fit into the modern urban dystopia.
I understand this is in America, but gotta disagree with your assessment of the Rocket 3 GT. Its a great all round bike for everyday use. Use mine every day for work commutes and days out. Low speed handling is awesome for a big bike, even round busy UK towns. Hell of a machine.
The problem is the Rocket 3 is a man's bike. Not too many boys are willing to take their dress off and man up. People that's never driven a bike that has all the power you can take don't have a clue. Ignore their ignorance.
Ahhhh, Harley Davidson electric SHORT CIRCUIT. A worthless set of two wheels, with an over priced ticket for what is offers . Not too many folks with a family cant afford any of these overpriced bikes. The manufacturers have their heads in the can, they wish to please the stockholder than the customer. Keep this thought going they will go out of business. The cost to produce these bikes hasn’t changed it’s the CEOs that gets the big bucks for being stupid and losing potential buyers due to the greed of these companies. It’s much cheaper to produce an all blacked out bike than having some chrome and custom paint. The greed of these manufacturers will charge more for the all blacked out look. It’s a total turn off for the buyer to fully understand how they are getting screwed over and sales are in the toilet and models are collecting dust. Some dealers have 2022s still on the sales floor with over priced tickets above the MSRP due to the greed of these dealers. Customers are giving the middle finger to all bike manufacturers and dealers They need to come back to reality or go out of business.
Well, price (or value for money) a factor in nearly all of these, secondary factor being excessive weight perhaps (the baggers). I also am at the point where I could theoretically buy any of these, but have left excessively heavy (Harly anything or Indian) or tall (multistrada..) behind, and got an outgoing model BMW F750GS (new being the F800GS, can't hardly tell (or care about) the difference..) last April, with all possible options for $10k, plus navigation and 5 year warranty and servicing for $1500. My son and I went touring around Tuscany this summer and it's perfect. It's unsurprising that Royal Enfield is cleaning up with low prices and quality bikes, mostly nowadays it's just a hobby, so who wants to spend $30k for something that looses half the value very quickly and you maybe don't use enough..
I have been riding motorcycles since 1965 . I've owned many brands with many different cc's . The perfect day to day motorcycle for me would be a fuel injected 650cc with ante lock brakes and no other equipment . Other than changing the points , plugs ,condenser , oil and gas filter , tightening the chain the and doing required valve adjustments motorcycling can be fun again . In short , bikes have become overpriced and overloaded with too many gadgets . No longer fun to own and to maintain .
Trying to sell weird bikes and bikes costing $20k+ is not a good idea. Who would have thought except anyone looking for a ride? In the end they're just toys with inherent limited practical use and no one wants to look like a dork.
I think it is desperation. The new motorcycle market in the US is more or less flat, and the biggest competition is the used motorcycle market, which it Harley Davidson's primary competitor. I think that some of these new bikes are simply last ditch marketing efforts to try to boost the brand and not be in competition with the used market because the used market doesn't have anything as hideous.
@@shenmisheshou7002Hideous, lol. Yeah, Indian and HD got some models that look like they got the front end of a bumper car attached to the fork. I'm actually considering a Moto Guzzi V7. It looks like a bike, is devoid of plastic bits, two easily accessible cilinder heads, enough torque, shaft drive and it doesn't break the bank. That's actually a lot of 'no nonsense' for one bike nowadays. BMW's r1250r is a bike I like but not for nigh on twice the cost of the Guzzi (if you want heated grips or any other extra's). But hey, like you said, a second hand deal actually is an option.
@@RenghisKhan It does give me pause to see what has happened to motorcycle styling. Either it is too retro, or it is too ugly. There area a few beautiful bikes out there, such as the Panigale V2, but for every really beautiful bike, there are two dozen ugly ones.
I use my motorcycle for everyday transport depending on the weather. The only time I use enclosed 4 wheels,(cars), is when bad weather shows up for extended periods.
Ducati will likely sell every Panigale V2 it makes in 2025. That means price is not the issue. Also, HD is competing more with the used market than with other brands. Why buy a new HD when you can buy a 6 or 7 year old low mileage used one in pristine condition for half the price? There are 50,000 used bikes on the market at any given time these days. The reality is that the motorcycle market in the US is more or less flat, and there is no growth. Motorcycle riding is not nearly as popular with younger consumers than it was 25 years ago. The fact that the population is growing and motorcycle sales are not simply says that people either don't want to ride motorcycles, or there are simply not motorcycles that appeal to them enough get people to feel that they need one. The only bike on the market today that I would consider buying is the Panigale V2. Most others simply don't appeal to me. Many are overstyled (which is a nice way of saying ugly) or put in a price point that is simply not something that people are willing to spend on what is essentially a luxury purchase.
The problem is cost, regulations, and unnecessary technology. Also, the cheaper finish on modern bikes. The flying fortress is the best bike on the list, but who can afford $22,000 for a cruiser?
Royal Enfield makes some decent bikes and are a fraction of the Prices in this Video. The Continental GT for example. Granted the quality is not on the same level, but I would get an RE before these 20K-40K Bikes.
I chose RE for my last bike first because they're built for a little more abuse and 2nd, because the price is about what a bike should cost. The used value makes it easy to get into a "first" bike a little easier. But if you look at the number of models they put out (maybe not available in the US yet) and their encouragement to personalize, you'd almost think they want you to have a wardrobe.
What I'd like to see from BMW is a bare bones R 650 or 750 RS 65-70 HP, runs on 87, with shaft drive, heated seats, heated grips and cruise control. Something that gets a realistic 70-75 mpg doing 55 on a 2 lane US highway. Yes full fairing and sell it for 11 to 12k. A really basic stripped down bike, no ABS, with wet clutch and hydraulic lifters.
The Triump Rocket III is undoubtedly the best bike on this list and I ALMOST bought a 2024 but I could not justify pulling the trigger at $22,000+ dealer fees? B.s. anyway I dropped $4k on a beautiful 2008 Suzuki Boulevard M109R with 7k miles and to say that I am pleasantly surprised at what an amazing bike this really is, is an understatement
The motorcycle industry is no different than any other product sales industry. They are trying to force customers to buy what the company wants them to buy instead of offering products that customers want to buy. Until that stops this will continue and it will get worse.
It’s not just these new big quirky bikes, look at the vintage and classic bikes market. BSA Gold stars, Triumph Bonnevilles, Norton Commandos are all struggling to sell to middle aged and old riders who are getting so frail they can’t use the kickstart. I fear for the future of motorcycling
Notice that most of these are cruisers and super heavy bikes. The world is moving to smaller, lighter bike. I can't even see Honda CLF300 in flesh since it is introduced 2-3 years ago.
I remember a day when the likes of BMW, and triumph built good looking high performance motorcycles, But they now look like over priced, overgrown toys, I have never met a true M/C lover who wants to ride an overpriced electric Bike, I know I don't and never will, The Guzzi, looked ok, But way too expensive, for the asking price I can buy a reasonable car and avoid the elements, The Ducati looks good, and it looks buyable, that is accept for the outrageous price!
Bikes used to be cheap fun . Now they want car prices for what is really two wheels and and engine. Smaller bikes 650 and under are still selling well . Under 400 are really popular outside the USA Enfields sold 79,000 bikes in just December 2024
I ride an old 2000 Night train on the road, and a 2020 KTM 300 XC off road. Was going to build my own v-twin hot rod but decided I would rather just have a bike to ride wherever so I went Beta 500 RS, got a 2024 for less than 10k, still expensive for a 'dirt bike' but I think I will enjoy this, and when I find places it's just little too hairy for, I'll go back with the 300 XC :). But to each their own, ride what makes you happy, spend the 40k if you have it, life is short, live it (that sounded totally stupid, but it is what it is)
Any manufacturer should know that nobody is gonna want a knock off of a Harley Road Glide/ Street Glide. As far as the Indian Scout bobber goes i guess everyone who did buy one lives here in the NY area because i see a ton of them. They look like plastic Sportster 883's
Excessive price tags, by a factor of 5x-10x. I'd pay 3,000 maybe for a new Harley Davidson Livewire, but not 30,000. I'd pay 1,500 for a new Honda Shadow, but not 8,000....
Everything is getting too expensive… even houses. The wages of the most people do not keep up the marketprices. A motorcycle is most of the time a hobby and not a priority. Bikes are just getting to expensive. I have riden Ducati’s for over 25 years and now I am at a point where I find them too expensive. I bought a Ducati Scrambler 800, and whilst the cheapest Duck it is really fun ! Back to basics, no riding aids and very easy to ride. Not overpowerd ! Why do you need 200 bbp on the road ? The speed penalties are also a big issue… in Belgium where I live, there is a lot of control. We have to drive very slow and the fun is gone…
Motorcycle manufacturers are falling into the same trap as car manufacturers to much technology, which makes it too expensive and unreliable that it can't be worked on by the owners and local garage.
The fact that half these bikes cost as much as a new car is most of the reason they don't sell. In what's considered the golden age of motorcycles they were cheap and affordable. They've also overcomplicated the designs in an effort to prevent people from repairing them and keep up with ever tightening emissions standards. Quality has fallen off a cliff as well. Harley can barely keep their oil contained within the engine in the current day. I find more bikes from the last 20 years in junkyards than the previous 60. Mainly they're junked for hard to fix electrical problems and exceedingly expensive repairs for what should be simple fixes. Pretty much the same problems as the auto industry.
Harley Davidson have lost the loyal buyers with there push for bikes that just aren't what we as buyers won't , triumph have listed to the market and doing well
This is like a video version of some whitepaper for mid-age businessmen and investors with nothing but numbers in it. I'm a motorcyclist and I am actually surprised how you've managed to wring all the joy from motorcycling related topic.
I really like the H-D Livewire...but in its current offering it still is not ready for prime-time imo. It has plenty of power. The range is way too short and to be close to practical it must have fast charge capability...all at a reasonable price. If these three "challenges" were corrected, I would consider it for sure. Range, how about 250 miles max so an everyday range @ 80% would be 200. Then you could max charge for those longer rides and still maintain good battery life.
Really simple. Why would anyone take out a 5 yr auto loan when 2030 mandates EV only, and no one knows if there will be petrol or where you’ll be able to ride. Meanwhile freedom and fun are being eroded by governments daily.
Mopheads are becoming the choice for drivers of larger bikes especially and Honda, yamaha etc are introducing Mopheads with hight outputs 600cc and above with luggage racks etc. No shame here with such a choice I feel despite being a goldwing rider and considering a Triumph rocket 3. maybe not a good idea.
Yeah well, you know that hornet 1000 thats only 9k in the us? Amd only 10k for the sp? Thats 14k and 15k in the netherlands, and we're not even the worst, just look at the nordics. I disagree about the design of the rocket 3..its a beautiful bike..its just nobody's buying any bikes with prices and interest rates on top of the already bad prices. That's the problem..not the bikes design..if prices was low along with interest rates I'd buy the rocket 3 in a heart beat.
i bought a very interesting Honda bike only made in Brazil and it's name is Pop 110i. so small, so ugly but imensely reliable. I can do about 59mph on 0.52 galon of petrol at a speed of 70-85km/h. it's amusing the questions I get asked. so far. As for the price, excluding fees for port legalization and import, I paid 1460 dollars 0km
If manufacturers think everyone should change bike every year or second or third then they have problems. They should be more than happy with that they have been sold. The salary is to low and everything around is way to expensive. When insurance have a price thats so high that you have paid your bike one more time after a couple of years. then its not even right to complaining over bad sales. 🎉
Moto Guzzi has modern clothes on an old lady, an absolutely ancient engine design. Harley CVO is the same. I will buy the CVO if they discount it $15,000.

Keep all that electronic boolsheet ! Just focus on making a bike to enjoy and is relatively inexpensive
Absolutely. I don't need a computer to help me ride a bike nor ABS braking- BULLSHIT built in at ridiculous pricing.
Sadly, it's government mandated most of the time.
I'd buy a Rocket 3 in a heartbeat if it came into an affordable price point!!!
Absolutely. Love to own one but damn. ($).
I understand this is in America, but gotta disagree with your assessment of the Rocket 3 GT. Its a great all round bike for everyday use. Use mine every day for work commutes and days out. Low speed handling is awesome for a big bike, even round busy UK towns. Hell of a machine.
Come on, this is a nitch bike.
@@petebusch9069 how so? Plenty of them around in UK.
No it isn't way more advanced than your standard HD crap
The problem is the Rocket 3 is a man's bike. Not too many boys are willing to take their dress off and man up. People that's never driven a bike that has all the power you can take don't have a clue. Ignore their ignorance.
Yes but the price remains ridiculous, I have a 2014 Trophy SE ????
The Moto Guzzi MGX-21?
It was discontinued in 2021.
What is that doing on a list now?
SV650?
Well... i have the triumph rocket 3gt storm and I love it! Use it in town as well. Incredibly easy to ride
Most of these bikes look horrible, blame the designers for the slump in sales.
What this video said to me is motorcycles are just way to expensive and the companies that make them dont care for what the consumers want
Prices of many bikes are too high for the average Joe to afford - *ROYAL ENFIELD* will continue to be successful while they keep their prices down.
$23,000.00 for 2 wheels & 40-100,000.00 for for wheels. Insanity. Plus taxes, insurance, plates.
The problem is cost, regulations, and unnecessary technology. Also, the cheaper finish on modern bikes.
The flying fortress is the best bike on the list, but who can afford $22,000 for a cruiser?
At this stage I can't imagine wanting anything larger or more powerful than my '16 FJR1300ES. It is comfortable, smooth and reliable.
yamaha don't mess around....That'll outlive you for sure...
Building a 145 cu. in V twin for Bonneville & a quick trips to granny's house on Sundays. YEEHAW!!!
Now that's a great ride!! good choice....and out performs most others....
The motorcycle industry is no different than any other product sales industry. They are trying to force customers to buy what the company wants them to buy instead of offering products that customers want to buy. Until that stops this will continue and it will get worse.
The Moto Guzzi MGX-21 is not even in production anymore since a couple of years.
Guzzis are pretty much non existent in America.
Missing was the most ridiculous, BMW R-18, a German tractor for short-legged bikers.
Live wire tests show half the range you quoted.
Notice that most of these are cruisers and super heavy bikes. The world is moving to smaller, lighter bike. I can't even see Honda CLF300 in flesh since it is introduced 2-3 years ago.
A terrible highway bike sadly.
Excellent video, thank you
CVO. $42K? I'll take 2. How ridiculous. My truck was cheaper.
During a visit to Paris, the most common BMW I saw was the CE04. Popular there but not in the USA. Different use cases.
Under 400 are really popular outside the USA
Enfields sold 79,000 bikes in just December 2024
Qui in Abruzzo si dice "troppe accìse", troppo esagerato. La moto è nata per essere un trasporto snello, agile. Chi comprerebbe un TIR a due ruote?
So the US market is over saturated with cruisers and EV have limited range to attract a lot of buyers.. and a Ducati is hard to maintain.. No shit.
An interesting view of a motorcycle market that is alien to those of us in Europe
Motorcycle manufacturers are falling into the same trap as car manufacturers to much technology, which makes it too expensive and unreliable that it can't be worked on by the owners and local garage.
The Ducati V4 Pikes Peak has never been to Pikes Peak. What's shown is the 1260 V2 Pikes Peak edition.
Spring of 2025 , I am planning to sell my 1635 cc Victory and get a 650 cc Royal Enfield.
The content may be AI. It still points out the truth. About prices aren’t keeping up with wages. Only Lawyers and congressmen can afford a $42,000
Truthfully, all EV's, vehicles of a Fool's Paradise, are but a fanciful dream...a Wet Dream.
The Rocket 3 GT is very manageable. Its dry weight is around 650 pounds with a low center of gravity.
Maybe, but it's not selling.
Agree on everything except for the Harley at the end. The only thing holding that bike back is price otherwise it’s a phenomenal bike.
Yeah well, you know that hornet 1000 thats only 9k in the us? Amd only 10k for the sp?
Thats 14k and 15k in the netherlands, and we're not even the worst, just look at the nordics.
Getting japanese parts here is rediculously expancive compared to the east and north america, and ALL living expences are too high to even be able to have a roof over your head when you're on your own. If i dont have a home, how would i have a new bike??? Its 90's and 20's bikes for me. Not that those are bad..
Im just looking for a no tech 600cc half faired standard V4 for daily year-round commuting.
450lbs 70-90hp 65lbs of torque top speed of 135mph?
For under $10,000
Your beat for a V4 buddy. Maybe an Inline-3 but not 600cc. You better write the engineering depts a letter because we'd all love to see that
@davidlagno7717 Would love to try a 3 cylinder. I'll get Honda on the horn and tell them we want low-tech VFRs in every displacement with the gear driven cams..
Should start a petition...
I doubt you will ever get a "No Tech" V4 600cc.
V4's are not known for their simplicity
@jerzywoking1699 I know. It just stinks that every bike now has to have a babysitter on board. Plus you have to pay way more for it.
@nonyabusiness4151 I'll sign it. Tell the R&D dept don't waste a dollar on electronic tech and give us something for the ones who like it RAW
The electric HD here in Hungary cost around $38,000!
For a bike that can hardly make 150 km with one charge.
Why the picture of the Rocket 111
this is a usa video , the Rocket 111
sells in the UK and many other
countries, 2.5 litre sorted machine.
R.
I think this is a AI generated video. RUclips is full of them. You can use AI to write the story, pick accompanying pictures, and generate the narration. I typically block these when I see them, which is what I intend to do as soon as I reply to this post.
@@shenmisheshou7002 Spot on. These AI generated videos are full of errors. Like showing a Triumph Bonneville halfway through the piece on the Rocket 3
I disagree about the design of the rocket 3..its a beautiful bike..its just nobody's buying any bikes with prices and interest rates on top of the already bad prices. That's the problem..not the bikes design..if prices was low along with interest rates I'd buy the rocket 3 in a heart beat.
The Rocket 3 is an interesting bike that needs to be restyled. It's hideous, just like the Harley Sportster.👎
The New Sportster. Love the old ones.
Just like auto's and trucks. Everyone played Richie Rich and everyone woke UP! Welcome to the REAL World!
BMW should get their electric scooter in the next James Bond Movie.
That is all.
The biggest misstep is the overpriced bikes!
Yep...way too expensive,i will just build my own
i bought a very interesting Honda bike only made in Brazil and it's name is Pop 110i. so small, so ugly but imensely reliable. I can do about 59mph on 0.52 galon of petrol at a speed of 70-85km/h. it's amusing the questions I get asked. so far. As for the price, excluding fees for port legalization and import, I paid 1460 dollars 0km
It's like the person who made this video doesn't know the first thing about bikes.
I'll stick to my Hertiage Classic, great price and great bike. Yes I bought a new one in 2024.
Middle class buyer's inability to keep up with inflation, in addition to price gouging more responsible.
Livewire has been a stand alone company for 2 years. It had no effect on Harleys bottom line.
And I dig the Batmobile Bike from Moto Guzzi.
Rocket 3 maintenance is not that much. 10K miles between oil and no chain adjustment, as it is shafted. What ya talking about?
The dollar is worthless
No surprise. Bikes shown are to high. Especially if you live in America where our economy has been destroyed by liberal design.
Moto Guzzi has modern clothes on an old lady, an absolutely ancient engine design. Harley CVO is the same. I will buy the CVO if they discount it $15,000.
Crap. I own a 2022 rocket 3 gt, very friendly at low speeds, fuel economy is good for 165hp 630 lbs bike. Extreme fun to ride.
They have the same problem as cars! Unjustifiable price and pointless features!
I have a bike with 16 miles. No time and no safe places to ride.
The big Guzzi is long sold out. Even a used 1 is hard 2 find.
Ducati Ghost needs to take the title from Kawasaki year….with some specialized series
WHY, just WHY are there infotainment systems on motorcycles.
Wait a minute . . . If i lived in the US, i would surely buy a livewire first before buying other toys. Livewire is absolutely one of the prettiest bikes of aaaaaalll time.
6:34 An Indian Challenger gets almost 50 MPG. What on earth are you talking about? Did you do any research for this video?
I'm not buying because they should be getting at least 50 to 70 -80 miles per gallon
A new Honda Goldwing in Australia, is $53000!
Harley bent itself over with Corporate culture/ideology.
This appears to be an AI generated thing that seems very awkward, not very credible and full of mispronounced words etc - Harley "liv" wire. Not a very documented piece and that Guzzi is several years in the past at this time.
AI voice over is too annoying to watch. I suspect the entire video is AI generated with stock promo footage pulled from the internet. And I expect to get an AI response to my comment thanking me for watching. The www is no longer filled with people
Scout Bobber surprised me.
BMW needs to triple scooter range
Bikes in Ireland are just a huge rip off and very little verity at least 3 to 4 grand more expensive than other parts of Europe
AI garbage, stopped at 9 seconds to leave a thumbs down, then bounce
I love my indian scout rogue.
Here is the issue regardless of who made these. Be original, this remake trash talking over someone else's video.
cars and trucks and motorcycles and trailers. the market have to crash before they change there ways. there put out a bunch of overprice junk.
Yeah it's December, motorcycles don't sell in December. Sell snow mobiles and stop winning.
😅 If you had to charge your cell phone for every hour of usage... You'd be using electrified transportation. There is not an electric motorcycle option with value... And every electric car option is more expensive than it's counterpart in the internal combustion engine propulsion category.😂.... Tesla has proven that, Toyotas prove it as well... Every hybrid concept proves it... And worst of all are the hydrocarbon oil and maintenance requirements of electric windmills pretending to power the electric grid😅
Yep, motorcycles are the future 💣
There are way too many brand models with ridiculous prices and spares prices, the manufacturers are hanging themselves, BMW and Triumph have set the prices for all manufacturers, thank you for
f😂😮😮king the motorcyclists.
Get your acts together and concentrate on quantity sales.
