I’m in Martin county. The tornado ran right through my backyard. My window shattered, and my neighbors car and house tumbled throughout the streets. I thought we were going to die.
Mobile homes should not be allowed in FL, it's impossible for them to meet the wind load ratings. Even worse is for someone to stay in one during a major storm. Prayers to all involved.
Manufactured homes are made to withstand hurricane force winds. No home can withstand the direct impact of a tornado the strength that these were. That is why you see CBS home in the same community destroyed. Spanish lakes is a bit unique in so much as there are CBS homes built randomly next to manufactured homes. However, I do agree that CBS homes are overall better constructed to withstand hurricane force winds.

this was the east coast of florida.. the hurricane entered on the west coast and it didnt even make landfall until hours after the tornados hit. this was completely unexpected.
It wasn’t an evac area hello? What do you expect 22 million Floridians to evacuate on a couple roads?. They got hit by a tornado no where near the path of the storm. Apply listening skills and common sense
We know that but those people who were put in harm's way because of bad reporting. Didn't have a chance of surviving the cat 4 part of the storm. I saw footage of those tornadoes it gave me PTSD just looking at them. It was a night of pure hell for those folks getting those BACK, TO BACK, TO BACK , TO BACK TORNADO WARNINGS. Talking about dropping the ball.
Did you listen to the whole report, the reporter said most who stayed didn’t have the funds for insurance and couldn’t afford to evacuate I heard the Governor and Mayors tell ppl to evacuate, one mayor said if you don’t evacuate, you will die.
Get an interview of what it felt like to be not to be told to evacuate. The storm was a cat 4 when it first was over Florida, with 130 mph winds. Also, ask them what it was like psychologically going thru the storm while getting hit with multiple tornadoes. And, give us a regional prospect of what those people were going thru up and down Tornado Alley created by the first half the cat 4 part of the hurricane. What it also felt like to get hit by tornadoes and still had to endure the cat 3 portion of the storm.
Please someone help the people in Spanish lakes the owner of the community won’t declare it a disaster zone so FEMA can’t help the residents who have lost everything please someone investigate this.
Well there were 130 warnings issued, not all confirmed to touch down. However based on the number of observed, and especially PDS warnings issued yesterday there had to have been well over 50 or more. 20 is ridiculously low.
They genuinely had no reason to evacuate. They were on the OPPOSITE side of the state from where the hurricane would hit. They got hit with a cat 1 hurricane. Anyone who evacuates for a cat 1 is an idiot
Because Milton was only going to be a Cat 1 when it got here, which it was. Very little damage from that. Forecasting of tornadoes isn’t a thing. Forecasting the CONDITIONS that COULD create tornadoes is the best we can do, but that would have meant evacuating most of the state, which is a logistical impossibility. That’s why.
Evacuate where?, Florida is big. Some people where told to hunker down others where told to evacuate. Others didn't get told to evacuate until the conditions changed. Where would you go. I don't know how Florida does things. In Texas they will use the school buses to move people who couldn't leave otherwise. Some people never leave and your supposed to write your name date of birth and social security number on your torso with permanent ink for just in case to help with the id of your remains. During hurricane Rita lots of people got caught in a traffic jam due to how many people where leaving. It was an mess.

Tornados have 2X the wind speed of a Cat 4 hurricane, and a lot more destructive power; winds in a tornado are 200-300 mph.
Yeah, then imagine being hit by 2X the tornadoes. 🤯
Thats EF5 rating. Their windspeeds can go from 60-320 mph,
