. . so we get a ride to the Doobie's concert an hour away , from an older friend w/a station wagon. we're all in summer school w/the two skips behind us and there is no such thing as late. our ride ditches us and we had to break up into groups of two in order to hitch hike. we got rides from cops , hippies , people and we walked a lot. some rides would pick up our friends ahead of us but if not we'd just yell and bust on them as we rode by. we all met in our village as it was getting light out , too early for school and too late to go home. Oh the concert ? it was awesome , we knew all the songs. peace. circa 70's
The Doobies are a great live band! Saw them many years ago when they did a co-headlining tour with Foreigner and they were superb. They have so many great songs - Taking It To The Streets, Listen To The Music, China Grove and Jesus Is Just Alright to name just a few
Hey it's Lare & Ethan .. better late than never .. wink wink. Hope u r enjoying ur summer so far Ethan. This Doobie Brother's track is definitely some good old southern rock to chillax to while ya get some fishing done in the black waters & later dance a jig😁 Y'all have a great evening .. love u guys .. Ta Ta👋🏼
@@66edoug I heard this alot on the radio. I also remember them featured on a TV show called What's Happening where a guy wants the kids to bootleg a concert in exchange for front row seats.
@@cherylreichardt That's funny, I was going to ask you if you saw them on What's Happening. I had heard some of their songs but that was the first time I actually saw them. At least I think it was.
Very nice and mellow song. Doesn't sound familiar and didn't chart in the UK, but a #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1975. A bit early for me musically, my main musical and holiday memories around that time consisted of annoying most of Europe with some Suzi Quatro as a 12-year old pushing a few coins into a jukebox every time we stopped for lunch at a cafe someplace. Kids! Who'd have 'em?
Well it was either the Doobs or ELO playing while eating bologna sandwiches with my friend on lunch break from school. She really had no choice about what I played or fed her. 😆
There are a ton of great Doobie Brothers songs, but Pat Simmons was always my favorite writer in the band and this was probably his masterpiece.
This and "South City Midnight Lady", another Simmon's song from Doobie Brothers Capt and Me album. Such an excellent, melodic song!
The Doobie Brothers had a bunch of good songs, like this one. Next one to check out - Takin' It to the Streets or What a Fool Believes
Great tune from a great band. Saw them in concert about twenty years ago in a smaller venue. Great band live too.
Highly recommend giving "South City Midnight Lady" from their "The Captain and Me" album a listen. An incredible song by them!

That sounds like the plot of a horror movie. How many were able to make it home? ;)
unlike a horror movie@@66edoug, we got in the running car. ;)
@@im-already-tired-tomorrow And you lived to tell the tale. But I guess they do have to leave one survivor so it can be told.
Lots of people hitched rides in the 70's. Sounds like a phenomenal time y'all had. No doubt the concert was great. Thnx for sharing ur memory Yogi😊👍🏼
@@66edoug had i missed school this tale (much condensed) would have an horrific ending.
"School's out for summer"
Wasn’t “Rock Around The Clock” one of the first songs that they labeled “this is Rock-and roll”. It came out in like 54’

I think my 3 favorite Doobie songs are This one, "Takin It To The Streets" and one of their last hits "The Doctor"

Hello there guys! This is a fine song! It's got that sweet Southern groove. One of their best by far! Taking It To The Streets is great too!
Hi Cheryl! Not their most well-known song. I wasn't sure I knew it. I do. Not from radio but it must be in a movie or tv show?
@@66edoug I heard this alot on the radio. I also remember them featured on a TV show called What's Happening where a guy wants the kids to bootleg a concert in exchange for front row seats.
Hello there! I think What A Fool Believes is the only one of theirs I know.

@@66edoug Rerun jumping up and down and the recorder comes out. But all there was on the tape were the kids singing and eating popcorn 😆
Fun tune. Glad you got to hear it, Ethan.
You guys should do a reaction to The Moody Blues: Nights in White Satin. The long version with the poem Late Lament at the end.
For the 50's poll I'd love to see Blue Moon and Get A Job on it
☮Peace☮
😎👍
Stick with the 70's........... Peace!
What about a 40's poll? As far as The Doobie Brothers are concerned, try some music from the Michael McDonald era like What A Fool Believes.
Is there any chance you guys will react to 'Hi Ren' at some point? Just wondering : )

The fun of youth. To annoy people and they weren't allowed to beat you up. Fun times.
@@cherylreichardt - never give them a choice. Never explain. Never apologise!
@@66edoug - what did they think was going to happen when they put a jukebox in their establishment? I mean... come on!
@@davemac1197 Same thing when we went to a pizza place. There was a jukebox. My friend kept hogging it. Only Bon Jovi played.
All these rock songs and still can’t believe no Slade…couple of songs of theirs known as were hits by Slade’s cover band Quiet Riot
How about some more Blue Oyster Cult?Too many to recommend...
50's? Buddy Holly, anyone?
Rave On is a classic among classics. It's kind of like he built early rock n roll. Everyone copied him
And wait til you hit the Michael McDonald era of the Doobs
