OMG! This made my day, my week! I literally grew up only listening to hiphop, and in my group of friends if you said you listened to rock (or other) you'd be laughed at and ridiculed, so I never really knew any other music. Then when I was 16-17 we moved to Europe and it was just around the time Alanis came out big on MTV, and I somehow ended up with her album Jagged Little Pill..... and I loved it! I played it over and over. It was the first time in my life I didn't listen to hiphop and my mind opened up to listening to other music. I can thank Alanis for opening my mind to other music actually. As a teen we loved this angry empowered "boss girl" music, haha.... it was the Anthem for girls growing up in the 90s, and especially after a break up, along with the lesser known "Nobody's Wife" by Anouk. That's why there's a whole generation of us who were in totally dysfunctional relationships, haha. We thought that it was what relationships were supposed to be like. It's funny because in those days listening to angry songs like this was normal stuff, and now in hindsight, and the way the world is today, I'm like: "wtf, this is some seriously disturbing stuff" haha. That being said, one of the greatest albums of all time imo.
You have to check out the whole album… she is a phenomenon. This was the soundtrack to SO much of my life - came out when I was in college/nurse training. Continues to be one of my all time top albums.
This is from the era where musicians/artists/bands weren't afraid to be utterly vulnerable, speak plainly, honestly & bluntly....It was very cathartic for them & so relatable for a whole generation of listeners. I miss that freedom of expression, emotion & just pure honesty in music. There's some nowadays but back then it was everywhere & accepted by the mainstream. It helped untold millions get through so many difficulties in life. For example, this album sold 33 million copies worldwide, was nominated for 9 grammys, won best album of the year & is one of the best selling albums of all time....She was 21... Check out the song Uninvited. Alanis was a teen pop star from Canada & is versatile in what she can do & emote. Uninvited is probably my favorite song from her.
This whole album is loaded with bangers. This song featured the amazing bass played by Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers) and Dave Navarro (Janes Addiction) on guitar.
Uninvited is her best song it’s sooo haunting it’s about a stalker. U could react to her live performance at the Grammys or just the lyrics don’t matter it’s fire
This uninvited live performance will change any doubts u have about her amazing talent! She also did an acoustic version of you oughta know later on Howard Stern show that’s beautiful! Check them out BP!!!! ❤✌️
Whoa! Haven't heard this 'un in a hot minute. Time was here in the UK you couldn't sit at a stop light without seein' some girlie singing her heart out waiting for the lights to change. Good memories. She said it for a lot of us.
This whole album was the sound track of my early 20s. She and other female artists if this era allowed woman of our generation to be angry and pissed off when our whole lives we were told to be quiet and respectful no matter how we were treated. Because to speak our feeling out was unlady like. This still gets blasted in the car at least once a month. It has more than stood the test of time. Chinchiila reminds me a lot of Alanis, in her willingness to put it all out there. Raw and honest and beautiful.
It's not like she's the spokeswoman for empowered females. In fact, she's the opposite. She's the kind that falls apart over a simple breakup, and ends up with multiple restraining orders against her. If this song speaks to you as if she's got some line to your inner thoughts, then you might want to consider seeking help.

It’s always interesting to hear music from the 90’s now and realize how much raw anger was tapped into and how much iconic artistry came out. Alanis was a movement. Jagged Little Pill was a masterpiece.
Each decade had its aura. The 90s were about truth and honesty and really finding power in a story. The thing with this song is it is probably the most powerful voice of a woman and her feelings since Janis Joplin.

She wrote this for Dave Coulier (Joey from the show Full House) when he dumped her. She nailed the Lifetime Movie-level crazy woman vibe the way she jumps around with her thoughts throughout the song.
You'll be happy to find out that "No Scrubs" from TLC is also about Dave Coulier (as confirmed by Chilli in an interview in 2020). And while this song is totally crazy-woman vibes (as is Your House... the untitled track off the end of the CD... which is next-level crazy-pants), the fact that Coulier inspired two #1 singles with antics tells me it might not be totally her fault.

It’s so hard to think this is around 30 years old. I played the fool out of this cd. This album/cd started a whole side genre in rock, angry chick took in the 90’s. Her drummer is legend. Taylor Hawkins. He left playing for her & joined FooFighters. Sadly, he passed a just a couple years ago. He left a big hole in the band and with family + friends. Others will fill you in on the candidates for whom this song was about. Thank you for what you do, I always appreciate you authentic views.
I remember driving & this song would come on the radio. I'd crank up the volume & sing right along. Jagged Little Pill is 1 of my favorite albums. ML&R
It’s hard to reconcile the fact that Alanis was a teenage bubblegum pop singer in Canada back in the day. Her music is so much more interesting now. She’s straight fire!! 🔥
I love this song and the video for it. Since you've recently started getting into Foo Fighters, the drummer for Alanis during her tour for this album (and you can see him in the video) was Taylor Hawkins who went on to be the drummer for Foo Fighters. At the Taylor Hawkins tribute concert after he passed away, she came and sang this song with the Foo Fighters in memory of him. He really liked Alanis, and made a really beautiful from the heart speech for her when he presented her with the Icon Award for Women in Music.
This is from her breakthrough album „Jagged little pill“, which came out in 1995. Two years after Nirvana published „smells like teen spirit“ and one year after „Zombie“. In a time before autotune, when real musicians still played real music. I mean - the bass on this track alone! Hello?!? You oughta know!
Alanis dealt with some pretty traumatic stuff in her younger years and she had to work through some pretty bitter feelings. It seems that she has steadily found peace and healing through the years. I'll echo some others to check out a live version of uninvited. Her voice will give you chills like no other.
I have the CD and still play it in its entirety at least once a month. When the album was released in 1995, I was 37 yrs old and, as a fellow Canadian up here in Toronto, I am VERY proud of our Alanis Morissette.
Before this album Alanis had been a girl who sang bubble gum pop music songs like An Emotion Away from the album Now is the Time. Jagged Little Pill came out in 1995 when she was 21
It was Dave Coulier, who was one of the hottest actors in Hollywood at the time. She was 18 and just getting started. In any event, he was driving somewhere, listening to the radio when the song came on. He said the voice sounded familiar, and as he listened, he recognized some of the phrases... Mr Duplicity during the middle of dinner.... because that had happened. He then said it occurred to him that, 'I might have hurt that girl'. I also recommend 'Uninvited'. Funny how she scares most men..... and how most women identify to the song/sentiment.
Alanis Morissette is Canadian 🇨🇦 She does have that lilt in her voice like a number of celtic singers have. My favourite song by her is Uninvited. Very haunting.
Alanis is from Canada and she was first a tv star on the show You Cant Do That On Television before she went into music. She once told Madonna to go screw herself when Madonna offered to 'connect her to the right people' so that she could earn as much money as possible if she only had a makeover and get more sexy. She also wrote a song about Kevin Smith called In The Front Row that is about how they almost got together during the filming of Dogma, where she plays God.
@@MelaniaX-l2g Yeah, there's a clip somewhere where Kevin talks about it during one of those q and a shows he used to do. And the tv show she was on was a variety show for kids; she was about 12 or so when she was on it.

And let us not forget Taylor Hawkins on drums! (RIP)
Taylor was a touring member on drums only.
@@ajbailey01and in this video
Thought it was Chad Smith on the album, along with Flea on bass.
A guy named Matt Laug played drums on the album.
Uninvited is her best song it’s sooo haunting it’s about a stalker. U could react to her live performance at the Grammys or just the lyrics don’t matter it’s fire
Yes! That is my favorite of hers.
Uninvited is truly the best song she sings!!
This uninvited live performance will change any doubts u have about her amazing talent! She also did an acoustic version of you oughta know later on Howard Stern show that’s beautiful! Check them out BP!!!! ❤✌️
Sooooo good
Whoa! Haven't heard this 'un in a hot minute. Time was here in the UK you couldn't sit at a stop light without seein' some girlie singing her heart out waiting for the lights to change. Good memories. She said it for a lot of us.
Alanis is 🔥and she's got a great sense of humor...you should watch her cover of My Humps, it is not what you might expect haha.
Full House star did her dirty and so did other producers. Listen to the whole album.. ya will get it
This whole album was the sound track of my early 20s.
So true! Mad respect! That's exactly how I'm bringing up my daughter!
@@Mr.Ekshin I highly doubt anyone has cared enough about you to feel anything at all when they broke up with you beyond relief.
@@Mr.Ekshin you should really do a bit of research before you make assumtions of how some woman must be this or that in your lame thought process. Read her bio *sshole, do the work before you mouth off, or just do us all a fav and dont say anything!
@@Mr.Ekshin Thank you for that perfect example of why Alanis and other artists who give me and so many others the power to embrace and express all our feelings, dark and light are important. Your insight into my mental health and your opinion on how I should process my own feelings based on a small paragraph in a RUclips comment, show the depths of your empathy, self awareness, and understanding of the female experience. ❤️
It's a piece of art . . . . it makes you feel.
The hidden track on Jagged Little Pill
Your House
An a capella banger
Alanis is Canadian!!! Canada really has quality artists!!! ❤🇨🇦❤
French girls represent, lol We have everybody fooled. They think white European women are demure. Only in public.
Totally agree and I've always got on well with you good folk. Musically, The Tea Party is one of my favourite bands. Not sure what you're going to do with that PM though. Good luck with that. Cheers from downunder.
@@achebwahs1111
Hahahaha!! Cheers!!! I don't know what to do about our PM!! I voted for him, but I am more than disappointed. I watched him grow and quite respected the programs he was involved with for young people.
That being said, I guess power corrupts.
Have you heard of The Tragically Hip?
Australia has put out some of my very favourite bands and musicians!!
Anyway, Cheers, again!!
@@PJAC1 It's not just you folk with leadership dramas. We're suffering our fools too and a quick look abroad show's it's definitely trending haha. Yep the Tragically hip are awesome. We've had some cracking home growns over the years. Ren has been refreshingly timely. He goes a bit better than alright. Have a cracking day and keep that brass monkey weather away. Still scorching here and flooding on weekends, but I wish these fecking flies would bugger off already. They become part of our staple diet in summer. One a week easy where I live. always mid conversation. Hilarious when it happens to everyone else. The different ways people react and the things folk try to get em out is too funny. This summer is off its chops though. Old Klausy Schwab should jet over and put his money where the bugs go. Cheers
@achebwahs1111 Right on both points!
She’s so talented and worth diving into. There’s probably a lot of women that feel this way but she’s just saying it out loud.
I absolutely love that she said what we are actually feeling 😂
I sing it at the top of my lungs, with feeling, and I haven’t been “wronged” in decades. 😂
Alanis was a game changer. Love her and love her music.
@@butterbeanqueen8148hehe
Jagged Little Pill is one of the very best albums from the entire decade of the 90's. You can't overstate what an important piece of work that was. I'm so glad I lived through the 90's and saw some of the very best musical talent in history.
Great reaction, BP. I'm a classic rock head, but I love me some Alanis!
superb song amazing voice great bass playing by flea of the chili peppers
She wrote this for Dave Coulier (Joey from the show Full House) when he dumped her. She nailed the Lifetime Movie-level crazy woman vibe the way she jumps around with her thoughts throughout the song.
I knew that and for some reason I always thought that was hilarious
Thanks betsy! I remembered it was about some actor, but I could not remember which one hahaha
Wasn't she like 17 years old when she was with Dave? If I recall correctly he denied the relationship for years.
@@newgrlsounds like Mr Coulier was definitely "a bit loose in the elastic"...😉 🤣🤣
🙃🐨🇦🇺
This song is FIRE! A woman's anthem!!! You go girl!!!!
Now you HAVE to react to "Univited" and "One Hand In My Pocket" by Alanis Morissette💯
This song put a chill down the back of every player out there
Im 44 now. I was 14 nearly 15 when Jagged Little Pill was released. Went staight to the record store and bought the CD. I still have it to this day & its oneof the very few albums where there isnt ONE SKIP on yhe track list. And then Uninvited. IYKYK 😂
My niece just graduated high school and I gave her a vinyl copy of this album... she hasn't stopped playing it!! This album really still stands up!
Homie!!!!😅😅😅😅 yor face on the fuck drop was precious to behold dude😅😅😅😅😅😅
Pearl clutching generation
That whole album was a masterpiece. The production and instrumentation as well as Alanis amazing vocals are just on another level.
Jagged Little Pill is my favorite album from the 90's. It definitely had all the angst and venom that I needed to hear.
Bro, the musicians on this piece. Flea on bass and Dave Nevaro on Guitar. And in the video was Taylor Hawkins (Foos) on drums.
Fantastic song. Also check out Hand in my Pocket, Head over feet, You learn, Thank you.
You wanna get onto stuff from her first go-round in the industry, check out Too Hot by just "Alanis".
I was 24 when she came in the scene. Perfect for young women to scream out their hurt! Now we are menopausal, LOOk OUT! 😂
one of my favorite singers please do more of her music she from Ottawa Canada she has so many great songs please do thank U next then one hand in my pocket. head over feet . you learn . not the doctor
Great vocalist!
I remember when her drummer was the late great Taylor 'F' kin' Hawkins.
This song was also on the same album as Ironic. Jagged Little Pill still holds up after 29 years.
My favorite of hers is Uninvited ❤
I turn 40 in July and my nickname in high school was Alanis because I constantly sang the songs off Jagged Little Pill ❤ took me a few years to fully understand but I can’t believe this album slipped you by. You come home and your girl is listening to this you need to head out and buy some flowers 😂
This song was written about Dave Coulier, who was on the TV show Full House as Joey.
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned!!!
I laughed when he was shocked in the first verse. Ummm...just wait! 😂 She PIIISSSEEDDD!
But she wasn’t really scorned. A seemingly casual relationship ended and she went crazy over it
@@Stevie8654Yeah right, because casually you tell someone you'll love them until you die! 🤦🏽♀️🤣😂 It wasn't a casual relationship.
So you think a woman speaking strongly and plainly after being mistreated by a more powerful older man is a hellish fury? Okaaaay
I didn't say that this was a bad thing.@@lindascott6902
Jagged little pill is an album everybody should have - every song hits
Love your reactions. The guitarists are Dave Navarro from Jane's addiction and flea from the red hot chili peppers. It's speculation that the guy she is singing about is Dave collier who played uncle Joey on full house. Lol
Great Song!!! My absolute favorite Alanis Morisette song is “ Uninvited” the live version with the Orchestra. Mindblowing
Alanis Morrissette is Canadian born in Ottawa, Canada, the capital of Canada.
Thanks, history and geography all in one. ✌️
Love Alanis. Besides all of the stuff in the other comments, she also is in a movie called Dogma from Kevin Smith and she plays God. She is an icon
Wooo, Dogma!
Awesome movie
She was so perfect to play that role, for the time, she was always a bit of an enigma
insane she got Dave and Flea from RHCP's to record and a young future drummer for Foo Fighters, Taylor Hawkins. Band was stacked.
Great song and rip Hawkins the drummer from foo fighters ❤
One of the best albums of all time.
ML&R
You mentioned her band. The late great Taylor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters was her drummer.
I used to listen to this album all the time as well as The Cranberries. I'm a Gen Xer.
Best break up song ever written. Your reaction was the best
The entire Jagged Little Pill album is a master piece .🙂
This is from her breakthrough album „Jagged little pill“, which came out in 1995. Two years after Nirvana published „smells like teen spirit“ and one year after „Zombie“. In a time before autotune, when real musicians still played real music. I mean - the bass on this track alone! Hello?!? You oughta know!
I agree with others on here, "Uninvited" live is a must. 🔥
Alanis dealt with some pretty traumatic stuff in her younger years and she had to work through some pretty bitter feelings. It seems that she has steadily found peace and healing through the years. I'll echo some others to check out a live version of uninvited. Her voice will give you chills like no other.
Classic. I love going on a 90s kick every now and then. Brings me right back to my childhood. In the back of the car driving around with my dad.
This dudes facial expressions are priceless 😅😂😜🤯😁😁😁
Oh shoot. His expressions are priceless. 🙂
I have the CD and still play it in its entirety at least once a month. When the album was released in 1995, I was 37 yrs old and, as a fellow Canadian up here in Toronto, I am VERY proud of our Alanis Morissette.
"It was a slap in the face how quickly I was replaced" is my favorite line!
I gotta admit, I’ve heard this song 100s of times, and I’ve seen many reactions, but I never laughed so hard at your reaction video😂😂. Thank you !!
Before this album Alanis had been a girl who sang bubble gum pop music songs like An Emotion Away from the album Now is the Time.
Jagged Little Pill came out in 1995 when she was 21
Yes this was '90s along with The Cranberries (Dolores O'Riordan). It was a fantastic time for women in rock music.
It just occurred to him then? What a douche.
Alanis Morissette is Canadian 🇨🇦 She does have that lilt in her voice like a number of celtic singers have.
My favourite song by her is Uninvited. Very haunting.
I think most peoples favorite song is uninvited, very haunted
Alanis is from Canada and she was first a tv star on the show You Cant Do That On Television before she went into music. She once told Madonna to go screw herself when Madonna offered to 'connect her to the right people' so that she could earn as much money as possible if she only had a makeover and get more sexy.
She also wrote a song about Kevin Smith called In The Front Row that is about how they almost got together during the filming of Dogma, where she plays God.
Interesting, didn't know about that song and Kevin Smith, or about her being on TV before singing.
@@MelaniaX-l2g Yeah, there's a clip somewhere where Kevin talks about it during one of those q and a shows he used to do. And the tv show she was on was a variety show for kids; she was about 12 or so when she was on it.
The 90's was the decade of my favorite female artists. Music was just so much better in general, but dayum.
Whole album was great!
