    It was an absolute CRIME that the Doobie Brothers didn't get inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame until late last year!! Especially considering how many crappy bands were inducted years before them!

      I wouldn’t be surprised that induction is tied to donations from bands. How did YES not get inducted into the RRHOF until 2017. RUSH got inducted in 2013.
      King Crimson still isn’t inducted.

      Well, I liked both incarnations of the Doobies. Michael McDonald joined the Doobies as lead singer when the original lead was ill and had to leave the band for an extended period, not sure but I think it was a couple years. When he recovered he was welcomed back into the band and both he and McDonald lead the band. McDonald began his career as a studio backup singer, you will hear him on a lot of Steely Dan albums.

      EXACTLY what I wanted to say. I can't remember what movie or tv show I first heard that quote, but yep. The fiddle is a different instrument all together!

    • @DeepThawts
      @DeepThawts 3 года назад +6

      According to a violin player I know, the technical difference between a violin and a fiddle is that there is a higher, somewhat more rounded arc on a violin's bridge (the doohickey that holds the strings up away from the body of the instrument) than on a fiddle's, which has a much flatter curve. The flatter curve makes it easier for the fiddle player to play double stops (which means, to play two strings at once with the same stroke of the bow).

    The Doobies have a wide range of sound..I personally love the early Doobies before Michael Mcdonald. My sons were blown away once when this came on, and me, my sisters and our husbands all stopped what we were doing and sang the whole song.. and we automatically fell into different parts when they hit the ending😄😄. They still say we had to have practiced! We also do a pretty good Seven Bridges Road by the Eagles😆. Great memories, guys.

    That is a swampy southern rock/ delta blues tune With the healthy dose of New Orleans Dixieland Jazz and Bluegrass. just a blend of great American music from the south makes this song groove so much. The instruments are the acoustic guitar tuned to double drop D and two guitar tracks, a bass guitar, Viola, an auto harp, wind chimes, drums and percussion. Plus 4 vocalists total contributing to the harmony vocals. Their best track imo.
