As a kid in the Sixties, I was a fan of The Beatles and my parents let me go see the band's movie, A Hard Day's Night, in which they play this song. Although I was a fan, I was stunned to hear this song for the first time. It showed a level of maturity that surprised me and I knew right then that they were much more than mere mop-top pop stars. I knew that the hysteria surrounding band was justified and I became an even bigger fan. They are the GOAT.
I agree with all your comments. I first heard this song in 1964 and also saw the film. in the Summer 0f 64 . Even as an 8 year old boy I was greatly moved by this beautiful song. To this day it remains my favourite ever Beatles track.
This song was ACTUALLY written by Paul and George, with John most likely having had nothing to do with writing it. Of course George received zero writing credit. In so much as the melody is heard in the lead guitar part which melody George composed, your statement is hereby proven WRONG.
George's gorgeous guitar riff was the perfect contribution to Paul's exquisite early ballad. George (and Ringo) often added just the right touch (on their own) to songs written by John and/or Paul.
Walter I agree so totally with what you say about George and Ringo, they were there to be in a band, to play their part and make the whole greater than the sum of the parts as they say. the Beatles are so great.
I'm pretty sure that the "video" that you're watching is a scene from A Hard Day's Night. You really owe it to yourself to watch that movie. It's a great comic portrait of their early days.
Yes, PLEASE do a reaction to the full movie! Not only a great movie, but it gives a wonderful idea of the personalities of all four. You'll understand why the world fell in love with them for more than just their music.
@@wrigleyville .... Thankyou.❤️ Also our vows were If I Fell. ( Truly ) Then of course, We've only just begun by The Carpenters for the big exit. It was fun!
@@ontarioguy4707 I've loved that cute Paul since I was eight years old. I always tied to call England to get a hold of him. My parents had to pay the phone bills and were very mad. But I bought everything I could read about Paul and The Beatles. I was a NUT. And still am. But now I have to realize he will never be mine. I saw him in concert 2010 and my heart was beating out of my chest. He played 3 hrs. Soooooo good. He was really just what I thought he would be. So no I didn't marry him but my passed away husband probably wishes I did. ❤️
I had this on a 45rpm single. This was the “A side”. The “B side” was “If I Fell” which has some of the most beautiful harmonies ever recorded. I would really love to see you react to that song. It’s every bit as lovely as this one (even better in my opinion). Great reaction my hunnie! 🥰
Totally agree .. "If I Fell" is a masterpiece ! .. It was an early reminder that although Paul was generally regarded as the king of the ballads, John could write beautiful love songs that were as good as anyone else could ever hope to produce .. One of my very favourites by the Beatles 👍 .. Wayne
the light sounds of the "bongos" is a great touch on this great song. This video was taken from The Beatles first movie, "A Hard Days Night". Thanks for doing these wonderful videos.
While each era of The Beatles is special and unique, I've always been partial to the "mop top" era, before their mass adulation drove them off of the stage forever. This era had the boys in their element as a performing act. The later years saw John and Paul working out most of their songs separately rather than the song writing team that was Lennon and McCartney. The harmonies from the two (and often three) were at their best during the early years.
They were still a tight, cohesive unit in those years with the rawness and drive from all those hours in Hamburg and the clubs in Liverpool and elsewhere still in their blood. John uses to say the best they ever were as a band was after all those thousands of hours playing and before fame hit. He said getting famous was the end of all that.
This song always makes me think more of Spain, and flamenco music and dancing, especially with the Spanish guitar work by George. Absolutely beautiful ballad from Paul.
OMG! This is paradise, so many The Beatles reactions!! Thank you for that. One of my favorites songs. The movie this is in is so funny, A Hard Day's Night.
Hi K.S.O., the drums you are talking about are called Bongos. Thanks to Ringo for playing them so perfectly! By the way, this video is from the film "A Hard Day's Night"! I sent you an email a while back detailing many of the Beatles' movies that I loved and recommend. If you haven't seen AHDN yet you should definitely see it!
I have just been transported back to a balmy late evening, strolling across to the NAAFI, HMS Terror, Singapore 1964 for a quick last drink. This and "If I fell" have stayed with me for some odd reason.
When I was younger I used to sing the lyrics "I give her everything....she gives me nothing" before my friend pointed out that I should actually listen to the lyrics.
Recorded almost 60 years ago - 1964 . Sounds as good as ever. From the film " Hard Day's Night " - an excellent movie and worth watching / reacting to in it's own right .
I remember as a kid sitting in the front row of the theater looking up at Paul’s giant face during this scene in A Hard Day’s Night because the movie was so jam packed full of kids that I couldn’t get a seat further back and lines went around the block for the next showing. Kids were screaming at the screen even though The Beatles were not actually there to hear them. 😂😂😂 Crazy days.
I Play percussion instruments, it's Bongos Ringo is playing. The rythyms,/melody are of Brazilian/ Cuban Eurythmics, Mambo/ Bos- sa- nova style sound.. sounds that all originated from Africa. Yes there are conga drum, like Bongo, are from Cuba Origin.
My favorite Beatles song! The beat, the melody, the riffs, and the words makes me feel so good. Glad I stopped by. And you're looking especially lovely today, K.S.O. God bless!
It was from A Hard Day's Night. I think I mixed it up with Help because they both have the same Letter "H". I also learned so much. Paul was a successful Singer/Songwriter but he couldn't open a Sandwich. In The US back in the day they had a place called Horn & Hardart where you could buy what you wanted in terms of food by looking at the Cubicles, putting Money in for your Meal and then Open The Door to eat what you wanted.
the video footage is from their movie A Hard Days Night...... you really should watch it.... great songs, but it also turns out the Beatles were natural geniuses at comic acting.. it's a very funny film and holds up very well... and captures perfectly the mood of the initial Beatlemania that swept the world
Ahhh! One of my favorite Beatles song! The lyrics, the soft music. That Bosa Nova rhythm. Excellent! Thanks for your reaction! Peace! P.S. React to their song "Something".
That's a scene from the classic Beatles comedy "A Hard Day's Night", which is like a couple of days in the lives of the Beatles (amusingly fictionalized, of course). If you want to know Beatlemania, watch that film.
Paul McCartney made a demo disk with Cilla Black (UK singer and old friend from Liverpool) for a theme song for Cilla's TVshow. Paul on guitar, Cilla singing and the great George Martin recording. One take, simple song, good stuff. Review it.
Reaction to "Girl", "If a fell", "You're going to lose that girl", "You've got to hide your love away", "here, there and everwhere", "Words of love".....
The drums are called "Bongos", from Africa, two relatively small drums binded together, one bigger than the other. Very warm and rich sound indeed, can be made by various materials, like clay or wood. Speaking of which, I recommend a song by Black Sabbath - "Planet Caravan", you won't regret it K. S. O.
Try their film A Hard Day´s Night , This song is in it ,, And it is very funny in an off beat sort of way and you get to see the kind of people they were then...
There are many sides of the Beatles. Multi dimensional. Soft, hard, deep, silly, thought provoking, original. They changed everything.
"If I Fell" is the logical next step.
As a kid in the Sixties, I was a fan of The Beatles and my parents let me go see the band's movie, A Hard Day's Night, in which they play this song. No one could compose a gorgeous melody like Lennon-McCartney
Heard a great interview with Paul where he said that George wrote the recurring guitar riff "the doo doo doo do" part that really makes the song.
Don't forget George

She's pretty & cute.
I believe Paul wrote this for his partner at the time , Jane Asher .

Paul wrote when I'm 64 when he was 14, almost 15 . His first song he wrote was I lost my little girl. He was just 14.
